We are quickly becoming a punchline yet again... here's to a 14th straight losing season?

P.S. Is it just me or does anyone else notice how often Markakis chokes in key situations? He's just not a clutch hitter at all and has consistently GIDP or had unproductive outs in general with men on base this season. It's really quite sad.

At least our season started well this year. That first week was a lot of fun. I guess we'll have to be happy for that little gift from the baseball gods. Now we're back to the realm of reality. Drat!

I didn't think Cleveland was that good... maybe we're just that pathetic? Yikes.

They got the hits they needed right when it mattered most and their pitching was stellar throughout the series. We didn't do either of those two things and got sweeped just like that. Oh, as some have already said, Gonzo sucks.

It's still early. I think the team can still break .500 even though it may be a ludicrous thought right now.

As for Nick, let's be fair to the man. Looking at his situational stats, he's been pretty damn good in "clutch situations" this season.

I don't know how many unproductive outs he's had but Markakis has grounded in to two double plays this year.

That may be, it just seems like he's become ineffective in the 2-spot during this streak and maybe should move down to 3... the problem is who would take that spot (Adam Jones, maybe?).

Adam Jones is so frustrating to me. I love his ability, but he needs to learn how to work the count. He doesnt get on base enough to bat higher in the order. I think Nick needs to bat #2 because we dont really have a better option.

Kakes comes up short in a key situation once again. Absolutely no patience at the plate for most of our guys... something has to change and fast.

That's more like it!

Too bad Markakis doesn't show up once again and Reynolds can't seem to hit the broad side of the barn either.

He's in a funk. You know he'll correct himself though.

I know, it's just so frustrating that every time he's up now you can pretty much predict that he's going to get out, especially with RISP or any other key situation when we need baserunners. Maybe it's time he moves back down to #3 in the lineup?

That would be premature. Especially considering his history and who's on the team.

On another note, Wieters continues to rake. The batting stance adjustment has really helped him.

Kakes may have found something tonight... Britton is a stud... Gregg tried to blow it but Jones said no... love seeing Wieters heating up :-)

Buck Showalter:

Showalter was then asked if anyone has more fun playing baseball than Jones, who is batting .232 with three home runs and six runs batted in this season.

“Yeah, but they don’t wear it on their sleeve like him,” Showalter said. “Nicky [Markakis] has a blast. He’s just not going to let the whole world see it all the time.”

“Wieters,” he continued. “I’m going to start keeping a notebook of Wieterisms. He’s funny. He said a couple of things in the dugout last night, I almost peed my pants. He didn’t even know it. He’s sharp. He’s quick.”

Making Buck Showalter pee his pants? Now that would be some Orioles magic.

It's only been 10 games and he hasn't hit a homer yet but Manny Machado has torn up Singe-A ball so far.

Those stats are 3 games old... he's down to .280, but he has 3 doubles, 2 triples, and 8 RBI which are still pretty good this early on.

Mr. Jones, when hot can carry this team just like Roberts or Markakis. It seems Vladdy and Weiters are swinging it pretty well. If only D. Lee and Reynolds can get going!

Reynolds was pretty hot early with RISP, but has significantly tailed off the past 5 games or so...
