I liked what Bobby Andion and Reimold have done for us! Andino is very capable with the glove, he might very well be our second basemen. I personally think he has the pop in the bat to hit close to 20 jacks. Reimold has just now gotten about 700 at bats... He's a solid player and he's very good in the clutch. I will never really understand why he wasn't the everyday left fielder?!

So, will Luke be back next year? Will Weiters continue the power stroke? Most importantly , which of the young guns will really step up and who do we bring in as a Vet pitcher? We really need a number 1.
C.J. Wilson could be that young, veteran pitcher we overpay to come here, but that still won't be enough to get out of the AL East basement... the new GM is going to have a ton of work to do.

Would be nice if we land Prince Fielder
I'd rather have Felix Hernandez.

Rumor has it that the Dodgers will push hard to get Fielder...They are going to free up over 50 Million and hopefully an owner too.

They are unloading over 50 Million in salaries this offseason and time is running out on Frank McCourt and his bankruptcy protection(Oct12th) and there is potential ownership waiting in the wings with heavy bankrolls.

Why is it taking so long for the O's to fire Andy Mac, Joe Jordan, et al.???
Apparently they might keep MacFail in another role, or keep him in the same position. Why am I not surprised.

I dont really understand why fans blame McPhail for the O's performance. It is unreasonable to expect much in free agent signings considering A) our team has been terrible for years and not exactly a place where free agents flock to. B) we still have the worst owner in the universe.

What has he done poorly? Failure to acquire International Talent is my main gripe, but once again I have to believe some of that stems from Angelos and where he is willing to spend money.

What has he done well? Our Drafts have improved over the past couple years IMO. We have acquired an extraordidary amount of talent via trades: Adam Jones, Luke Scott, JJ Hardy, Mark Reynolds, Josh Bell, Chris Davis, Tommy Hunter, Robert Andino. All players we have acquired via trade that have contributed significantly to our team and many are going to be featured on the team for years. Who did we lose in these trades? Miguel Tejada, Erik Bedard, Koji Uehara, George Sherril, and David Herndandez. Only Hernandez was a piece that still has any real value for the future.

The only thing that has taken us even close to the right direction since he's been here is hiring Buck. The same happened with Flanny. I just feel that the majority of the FO has to be revamped but, as you said, the biggest thing keeping us from going anywhere is Angelos.

Is it bad of me to wish for Angelos to go bankrupt?

What exactly would you define as "close to the right direction" We don't have unlimited spending like the Sox and Yanks. We have tried to build young quality pitching, but it just hasn't worked yet. I just think a lot of fans think there is some magic button that can be pushed, but in reality it just doesn't exist.

Buck gives us a winning mentality. Angelos has more money to spend than you think, but like you said, we keep trying to build up our farm system to give us a good team. Fact: our farm system is dried up, and we have a bad team. Time for a change.

He has money to spend but refuses to spend it. There's no excuse for our payroll to be below $100 million.

It's common practice to wait UNTIL the World Series is over to make big announcements like this!

Not necessarily... the White Sox announced Robin Ventura as their Manager yesterday.

Was he with another team though? Maybe the O's are grabbing from someone in the playoffs?

I don't believe so...

People have been speculating that, and I think that's certainly a possibility.

Sources: MacPhail out as Orioles press of bb ops. Will not return in any capacity. Showalter expected to remain mgr; situation fluid.

Expected obviously, but its finally happening!

After more than a week of speculation following the end of the season, Andy MacPhail is indeed stepping down as the Orioles' president of baseball operations after four-plus years at the helm, according to a club source.

MacPhail is leaving the Orioles to tend to family and personal obligations, the source said.

An announcement could come Saturday or perhaps early next week.
