If you wanna calling it "playing".

In all seriousness thought, baseball season, for me, starts on opening day then ends when FA starts.

All i know is that they take the field every night but not sure about the playing part. As always O's fans hope to avoid a one hundred loss season.

Nice win in extras today over the Yanks though. I enjoy watching the yanks and sox lose any day of the week. Even the rays a little bit too.

Indeed. I feel like I can really relate to the O's fans because it's always just another year to look at the young players while the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays battle it out for the AL East title and the Wild Card berth.

The Jays have been up there for the first half or so each of the last two years. They don't help their future by trading guys like Aaron Hill though, eh? Btw, I figure you're as good of a person as any to ask: why do you think Bautista all of a sudden has power over the last two years?

Well actually Aaron Hill hit just above 200 last year and then this year he was only hitting about 225 with 5 HR so there was much speculation that his option wouldn't be picked up this year because it seemed like he really could use a change of scenery. To be honest, Jays fans were more sad (but happy that they will get a chance in the playoffs) about the other guy that was included in that deal, John McDonald.

As for Bautista, he gives a lot of praise to the hitting coach for the Jays and says that between him helping him to get his leg kick timed properly and the regular starting spot (it was by default at the time) to start the 2010 season that helped him and then he started to gain confidence as well. He's a very smart hitter with a good eye as well and he waits for his pitch and with his very level swing he just crushes the ball.

Honestly I didn't get to see him a whole lot before he came here, but he has said that it's because he was pressing really hard to lockdown a starting position and so he became inpatient but apperently he always had the power but he also struggled to get his timing down.

So basically with his incredible confidence that he has now as well his him not having to worry about being in the lineup everyday and his adjusted swing that's basically let him take unlock his potential.

He could easily have 50+ homers this year as well but no body will pitch to him. They always just give him breaking balls down and away and walks him whenever there is a running on.

Honestly though he is a great all around player on and off the field and I really can't say enough great things about him.

Haha ya he owes the jays a few after last season... I was very happy to see him stay in the division, but I think next year he'll be out of the league.

So I just turned on the O's game, saw Evan Longoria hit a 2 run bomb to take the lead, and immediately turned it off. Then I started thinking....I am actually going to root for the Rays to beat the O's just so they can take the Wild Card from the stupid Red Sox. Our season has been over since May so I may as well route for the Red Sox to collapse.

Wieters is quietly having a pretty decent offensive season, and coupled with his Gold Glove caliber defense, I'd say we have one heck of a player.

After seeing Verlander win his 23rd game, I went back to the 2004 draft (where he was selected 2nd overall) to see who the O's got in the first round and noticed we picked Wade Townsend even though Jered Weaver still on the board... yet another draft mistake by the O's <_<

I understand what people are saying about our draft... The thing you have to consider though is that MOST of the players taken are also HIGH prospects on teams drafting near us.. I n other words, If we hadn't taken them, the next team probably would have. This leads me to think the Minor League development is GREATLY FLAWED! I'm not a Joe J fan at all but his picks are logical, the rest might just be a curse... LOL. I hope D. Bundy, Machado and Espisito work out.

They need to work out, or we'll have another 14 straight losing seasons.

Agree. The point I was trying to make is I don't always think it's the players. I think its the handlers.
