I don't know what to think of this recent winning streak as it's quite unclear which direction the team is going.. Like last season when Buck took over and the team finished the season dynamically.. Then this season came and the expectations were for the O's to finish above .500 only to have pretty much the same outcome...

EDIT: lol at this spam filter

i hope the yankees arent like "hey lets give them this series" no they wouldent do that! nvm!!
Yup, not when they're fighting Boston for the division... this was supposed to be an easy 4 or 5 wins for them.

Boy, Matusz is some kind of terrible...
His velocity was in the upper 80s to low 90s in the first two innings, and all of a sudden it was 86. His stamina is awful.

Also helped that the umpire had a bigger strike zone than normal. He made Colon and Britton look unhittable

Speaking of Colon. There's no way that guy isn't juicing. You don't add 10 mph to your fastball the older you get without some "help"...

What about Granderson lol!? He's leading the league in home runs, and he's tiny compared to other power hitters.

Yeah, who knows what's going on with that... Ellsbury has had quite a jump in HRs as well, but some will say he was due for a breakout year, and I guess Granderson was as well. Also, Yankee Stadium is a HR machine, especially for lefties.

That was close to bad we didn't win!

Yeah, not much of a realistic chance with Guthrie going against C.C.

Orioles' MacPhail could start GM exodus with departure

By Bob Nightengale, USA TODAY

BALTIMORE – Andy MacPhail, president of baseball operations, has reached a decision on his future with the Baltimore Orioles but plans to wait until season's end before announcing his intentions.

"Let's just get to the end of the year and see what unfolds," MacPhail told USA TODAY. "We'll see. We'll see."

MacPhail, according to two high-ranking Orioles officials, plans to leave the organization after his contract expires Oct. 31. He will not pursue an extension. The officials are not authorized to discuss the decision publicly because it is not official.

MacPhail stays quiet on future with Orioles

President of baseball operations won't comment on report he won't return next season

By Jeff Zrebiec, The Baltimore Sun
12:21 a.m. EDT, August 31, 2011

Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail remains mum about his future with the club even as a report surfaced Tuesday night that he will leave the organization when his contract expires Oct. 31.

USA Today, citing two high-ranking Orioles officials, reported on its website that MacPhail has decided he will not return for his fifth full season heading the front office.

MacPhail declined to comment on the report, saying that nothing about his situation has changed and he can't help "speculation."

McFAILED. I hear Cashman is on the outs in NYC... Just saying!

About Granderson.... Notice guys that have sudden power increases always wear BAGGY uni's? They don't want to to get an idea of why they have fat faces but jacked bodies.... Case in point, MANNY....

I'd loooooooooove to get Cashman, but I wonder how he'll do without a seemingly endless budget?

Last night was ugly. Glad I stopped paying attention to the O's.

Me too. If there's nothing else on, I watch it. But now with college football, the Ravens, and the US Open, they arent even relevant.

Well, starting of this season I thought we really had a chance. The sweep of the Rays was encouraging. But, its turned into another letdown season. Come on guys, I love the Orioles, but I get tired of the jokes when I wear my Orioles stuff in public.

Soon it will all be over hopefully. I keep hearing "give it a few more years", and I keep believing it.

Patience guys. That's what it's all about. It may seem unlikely now, but one year it will all come together and our Orioles will be contenders once again and our unbelievable patience will have payed off tremendously. Just imagine how rewarding that is going to be.

Another loss to the Yankees... Matusz rightfully kicked out of the rotation for being an epic failure this season... here's to another Top 5 pick though :)
