Demaryius Thomas Injury

12 posts in this topic

After a disastrous season, things haven't got any better for the Broncos in the off-season. Receiver Eddie Royal had hip surgery that may affect him going into next season and now, Demaryius Thomas has torn his Achilles tendon.

ESPN medical analyst Stephania Bell doesn't think it's "the end of the world" but this article is pretty sobering.

Ask Troy Polamalu how it feels.

At least he was doing something worthwhile, working out, while he got hurt and not something stupid (falling down the stairs, slipping on a McDonalds bag, etc). That said, this isn't good for him or the Broncos. Thomas has a reputation of being injury-prone, this doesn't help his case.

Schefter tweeted that 36% of players who suffer this injury, never play again. That is a pretty high rate. I am sure DT will play again, but he does seem 'fragile '.

Could you imagine if Denver didn't pick him, and we took him in the 1st and took Kindle in the 2nd?

I know the Ravens were interested, so thank god Denver took him off the board.

Yea I was thinking that myself. What a disastrous draft that would've been. Ofcourse time can still prove that statement wrong. That's why in 2011 we should go BPA 'safest' pick. No project guys early, no guys with history of injuries, no guys with off field issues. We need a solid draft class that can contribute.

The Broncos helped our whole draft last year haha. They gave us a few different picks from different rounds to get a couple of good players, and they also took Thomas off the board, who may end up becoming a big bust. When Dez Bryant is on the board, and you need a reciever, common sense tells you to take him. McDaniels probably couldn't handle someone who questioned his coaching decisions though (Marshall), and that is a big reason he was fired from his job as HC this past year.

I still wish we picked McCourty though....

In hindsight, yes. But I'm pretty sure most of the people on here would have preferred Wilson. (including myself)

I wanted Wilson first, but McCourty was extremely close behind.

I wish McDaniel can still qualify to be HC for another team cuz we like our trades with him: can't turn down 1st pick for multiple picks.....

I didn't get Kyle Wilson's hype. He was a mediocre, undersized 2nd-3rd round prospect who went in the first because he had a good Senior Bowl.

I wish we could go back through the 2010 draft thread so I could quote my believing that Wilson sucked, without hindsight.

Anyway, Bay Bay does seem like a guy that can't, and wont, stay healthy.

I do recall someone saying they didn't believe the hype. I'm one of the people who believes that the senior bowl and combine are both extremely overrated. But I'll admit, I was a victim of the hype.

I also hate the fact that we totally took out last years draft section, like I've previously stated. Its always great to go back and look at peoples thoughts on certain prospects.
