Phillip Hunt

What is everyone's take on Phillip Hunt? If you don't know him let me tell you [i]aboot [/i]him. He is 23 years young, 6'1, 250 lbs on pass rushing material. He led the CFL with 19 sacks over the last 2 seasons, 16 of which in 2010. He drew interest from the Patriots back in December and 3 teams are currently bidding for his services: Texans, Eagles, Vikings.

I know we all like to make a topic anytime there is a free agent but look at his age and what he did over there (YES I KNOW IT'S THE CFL, NOT THE NFL) and tell me you wouldn't at least like Oz to give him a try out since Pass Rush is one of our weaknesses and voids we need to fill.

Would you like him for a situational pass rusher?

Cameron Wake syndrome.

He looks pretty decent, though. Found [color="#0000FF"][url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8r7XKd3Gaew"]this video[/url][/color] of him back when he was going into the NFL draft, he's built like a bowling ball. He was very successful in college, too. We need pass rushers, he looks to be a good one - even if it's only situational.

I just read on Rotoworld that teams have between till February 15th to sign CFL players. I'd love to see the Ravens swoop in sign this guy.

He had a great career at the University of Houston and was with the Browns for training camp but got cut after one pre-season game. He's no Cameron Wake according to this article([url="http://nflbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/nflbuzz/sources_third_team_in_pursuit_of_cfl_pass_rusher/4139244"][b]link[/b][/url]) but he'd be an interesting player to bring in.

If the guy has a motor I want him for at least a training camp. Not saying he is a Cameron Wake or James Harrison ( I know He didn't play in the CFL but he did play in Europa), but does it really hurt if we give him a chance when our back up pass rushers are Edgar Jones and Prescott Burgess....

Don't know much about him. But its worth a try. We need a pass-rusher. Lets bring some bodies in. Plus look how Wake has turned out.

Pretty sure Jones isn't on the team, anymore... although, he was going to be the next Adalius Thomas...

Anyways! If he can adequately adjust to the NFL game, he could be a much better option than Burgess - I agree.

I'm all for it, but just a heads up like the article says this guy is no Cameron Wake. He could be successful in the NFL but he won't have the impact Wake has.

Wake had 20 sacks in the CFL in [u][b]one[/b][/u] season.

Correction - he actually had 23 sacks in 2008, 16 sacks in 2007, almost 40 sacks in 2 years is straight ridiculous.

We already have a raw international product in Ramon Harewood, so it's not out of the question in my eyes that we'd take a look at Hunt. (CoughTerrenceandPhillipcough)

A lot of guys are "s'posed to". Remember when Eli Manning was supposed to be the next Peyton Manning? How dumb! Hunt only bares resemblance to Wake because he's in the CFL.

Looks like he is more suited for a 4-3 end, but from that short video he shows some good skills with his hands and arms.

Pft! I brought up Hunt's name like 3 months ago when we were talking about Wake in the CFL and how I took responsibility for not letting Ozzie know about Wake myself lol. Hunt has skills, and was a good player at Houston but Wake's explosiveness blows out Hunt's when you compare the 2.

lol I understand the question about 5 times better now. He's worth a flier in training camp imo without question. I think he's a better talent than Burgess who is our only depth at OLB for some unknown reason. He's not Wake, but he's a good player, my only thing is I wonder if he struggled standing up with Cleveland and thats why they cut him. Really all we need is a situational pass rusher anyway and for that he's worth a TC spot.

Wow, 25 sacks and 36.5 tackles for loss his final 2 seasons before entering the draft? That's ridiculous production. I'll take him, even if just for training camp and pre-season, although it looks like neither are guarantees at this point.
