New Game-"homefront"

34 posts in this topic

So there's a new war game coming out March 8, called Homefront. I saw that it's about North Korea becoming crazy strong, and invading the USA while we are in a terrible economic depression. Your character takes on the role of almost guerrilla warfare and fight within your own country to kick the NK out. I've watched trailers on youtube, and it looks like a sick game. Anybody else heard about it?

Yeah, I saw something about it - looks good. It's gearing up to be a good year for video games. I'm not really into them - only play during summer/winter break - but a lot of great titles are coming out...

Yeah. Not to sound like a traitor, but I liked in MW2 where the Russians invaded DC, because you got to fight them in your own surroundings and feel good when you kick them out. It's just a fun change of scenery other than invading the Middle East or Russia.

The first time I played the "Wolverines!" level in MW2, it gave me chills. The suburbs of Baltimore aren't much different than the suburbs of DC/

Yep, there's a lot of similarities. The thing with Homefront is that it's scarily possible, since it's based in 2027 or something like that. North Korea unites with the South, and forces Japan into surrender so they have a huge force. They eventually capture Hawaii and take San Francisco, is what I just read.

I read about Homefront a while ago, but I haven't followed it very much. Despite that, I'm relatively interested in it, I like games with similar storylines. While I may not buy it, I'll rent it.

I heard about this a year ago . this game almost didnt make it past phase 1 testing because of outcry from people that this was a Negative Story line . however I see it as Red Dawn: The Game which I always wanted

I don't see it as a negative story line at all. I would get a thrill from protecting my own country on our land.

The campaign looks like it's going to be good, but the gameplay seems a bit mediocre. I'll try renting it first before buying it.

I think it's this company's first try at a game like this. Nonetheless it looks good.

It's just like Freedom Fighters on the PS2 and Freedom Fighters was one of my favorite games of all time.

Don't know if I'll be getting it with Socom 4 U.S. Navy Seals coming right around the corner. That's the only game that matters to me.

Story seems fine but I was watching a gameplay video and it does not look as good as expected. It seems like it is based off an engine from the early 2000's. Just looks incredibly slow.

There's a lot of competition in the shooter market, to make it as a front runner developers have to make their game really special, anyone see the Battlefield 3 gameplay footage?

With that in mind, Homefront fails to stand out from what I've seen. Even though it's set in America, I don't think that's enough to set itself apart, because like every other shooter it's always "Go team America" and the enemies are communists/terrorists/other countries in general. Not saying it's a bad premise, it's just that there's way too many of them.

Cracked.com has an accurate (and funny) chart about modern war FPS. Link

I like the game, myself. It's a plausible story, which makes it slightly unsettling. It's very... I don't know, odd and chilling to see broken down (both in structures and emotionally) American neighborhoods and seeing Korean soldiers beating and dragging off everyday citizens.

My major gripe is definitely the length, one day and I got to chapter five of six... and they aren't long chapters.

Yep. It's very disturbing to see dead Americans being picked up by a bulldozer and but into a massive ditch. The major issue I have right now is that I cannot find a single game online. It's ridiculous.

i was told the graphics were pretty bad, like compared to a PS2 or Xbox system.. which in this day in age, are below average

Ok so I just finished it. Great story, very fun to play. Not Crysis 2 graphics but very good nonetheless. Wayyyy too short, not worth the full price. I beat it in about 4-5 hours so renting it would be your best option. The ending needed more but overall I would give it a 7/10.

If you have an extra six hours, you can finish the campaign in an afternoon.

From what I saw in the commercials, the game didn't look like anything special aside from the story and setting. Glad to have missed this one.
