Lets pray that Rex doesn't get to him before we do..
Why would Rex go out sign Gaithers when he has a probowler D'Brickashaw Ferguson as LT?

No one is going to shell out huge money on a lineman with back issues that sat out/ired a year, It would have to be an incentive laden contract.

I don't think Drew Rosenhaus see that.

lol....have you reigned in your desire? Cuz there are a lot of things I would do that I'm not proud of if it put enough zero's in my bank account.

Nothing we can do; Jared wants paid, the Ravens know how to wheel and deal with the best of 'em...whatever happens is probably for the best.

Exactly. Like PU said, all Drew has to do is point out how bad our offensive line was without Gaither and use that to try to get more money out of us. Now it's too bad this meeting has probably all ready happened but who wants to go find Drew and lock him up in a closet and make sure we never see or hear about him again?

and all we have to do in response is point out how many people played out of position, and remind Gaither who's fault that was.

Our best bet is to have them look for a contract from another team and hope nobody gives them one.

Then after a while, we come back and say "Look Gaither, we've seen that you haven't signed with anybody, we are willing to sweeten the deal (just a tad), we want you to remain a Raven. And Bam! Gaither is back.

But knowing how many stupid owners there are in the league. This outlook could be tough.

Anything to have Oher switch back to the side where he should be. A little off topic, (kind of) but I was thinking about McClain as he was defending Jared. Why don't we just release McGahee, draft a true FB who can block and start Rice and have McClain be the change of pace back?

Not just the Ravens--no one is going to roll up the brinks truck--even Synder, Davis and Jones can't be that stupid.

Yes Good point.... I just hope that we get something done like a 2-3 year deal and just get it over with and at the end of the day we hear that Gaither will be back at LT, Oher back at RT and Yanda back at Guard and everything will fine on the offensive line.

I'm not totally against this idea. A pure run blocking FB would do wonders for McClain. I'm just not sure if McClain wants to return. But if you make the move to release McGahee early, you might be able to swing it if there are negotiations with McClain and his agent.

If we deem his back healthy, and that he is 100%, than we can throw whatever we want at the guy. I mean we gave Dominique Foxworth 35 Million and he missed all of last year and isn't in the conversation of top ten at his position and Gaither is. Staying healthy is a problem all athletes face, the fact that the Ravens are talking to him in the first place is a good sign.

Apparently his back issues are 'chronic' (not that type stoners!). So even if he is feeling 100% now, it doesn't mean it'll stay that way.

I feel it. I'd just rather have McClain back there than McGahee, so I hope we can work something out.

I fully understand and appreciate that view, and I would be telling a lie if I was to say otherwise, but if he truly wants to stay here, he could drop his financial demands some.

Put it this way, I'd accept less money to play for the Ravens over a different team.

If the Steelers Organization wanted to pay me 3 fold what I'm making now to be their Controller, I'd be there. I'd even wear a 'Golden Rod' tie to the interview.

LOL you could never, EVER get me to work in any shape, fashion, or form for either the Steelers or the Colts. NOTHING, not even a billion dollars, would make me change my viewpoint on that.... thats how much I hate both teams.

No your just being naive. A Billion dollars? There's a lot of things I'd do for a Billion dollars. Working for the Steelers would be the least worrisome of them.

Same. Then I'd mess up their franchise :D

The point being that I don't really know how high on Gaither's list of priorities money lies. We know that it's right at the top of Rosenhaus' though.

You could just do a really crappy job. Have them sign Troy Smith and ditch Roethlisberger/Manning.

If I had a billion $, i would buy the steelers and burn them to the ground.Muahahaha
I second this. Can fans unite around the country (Dallas, Redskins, Ravens, Philly, Cleveland, Cincy, etc) pool their money and do a hostile takeover of the Steelers organization (I know they aren't a corp)? There has to be a way. There's enough Anti-Steelers fans out there.

Then once we have ownership, we'll change the team name , color and we'll move them to a New Mexico. Please welcome the New New Mexico Pink Badgers!!!!!! We've just cut Troy P and Big Ben! Gilligan is the new HC.

No, that's too cut and dry. Better to stock them with the worst players you can find and make them be the worst team in football for decades!!! Yes!!!

There are a lot of organizations out there that love to over pay guys. LT is a dire need for so many teams. If they test the FA market, they probably will find a better deal than what we'd be willing to give him

I agree we should make every attempt at bringing Gaither back to the line. But we also can't be slaves to their demands at the cost of signing other guys.
Bringing in a new guy with an injury history and paying him a lot is stupid, but I'm sure some owners out there wouldn't mind. That is if there isn't a healthier tackle available in FA. But I think Gaither and his agent understand the circumstances, and although he should get more pay than the minimum would be for his tender, I think they know he doesn't deserve a lot YET. This organization already knows what they're getting into and maybe because of that we have an upper hand and less of a risk once he is brought in, if he is.

I think I read somewhere that this meeting was suppose to be a FO conference call with Rosenhaus. If that's the case, I wouldn't expect the "GBA" (Gaither Bargaining Agreement) to move along quickly.

As long as they can get a fix for tackle outside of the draft. Bring the big man bag, or try to bring in Light(it's very possible). Try to get the sitch fixed so the team can focus on other things during the draft.
