Manning Has Knee Surgery

7 posts in this topic

Watching NFL Network they seemed to think he'd be back for week 1. Although only because 'he's a warrior' so hardly a conclusive medical diagnosis.

Anyway, I'd rather beat them WITH Manning behind center, rather than the mighty Jim Sorgi.

Bursa Sac

I had one of these guys a couple of years ago. Basically, they're a fluid-filled "sac" that cushions your bones and tendons in your joints. They're in almost all of your joints; shoulders, knees, elbows, etc.

Sometimes they "inflame" and cause you pain. I'm a cross-country runner and I got an inflammation in my right knee, it's a sharp kinda of pain that you can work through, but it's a hell of a lot more safe and healthy for your body to get it treated. I, of course, didn't have surgery, I just sat with an ice pack on my knee and did some stretching. It went away in a few weeks, and I haven't had any problems with it.

Infected/inflammed bursa sac or not, Manning is still a freaking machine when it comes to staying healthy...that offensive line is beyond ridiculous (in a good way).

I'm just glad that media outlets aren't turning this into a tabloid-like story, instead of the common procedure that it is.

He stays healthy because he's smart about what he does after he throws the football. He doesn't admire the bomb he just threw. He gets the hell away from the pass rush to avoid cheap shots. Brett Favre does the same thing. Obviously The O line plays a huge part in keeping him healthy, but it's his intelligence that does it too.
