Ravens To Discuss A New Contract With Gaither This Week

Great news, indeed, if he can come back healthy and play like he has in the past. The OL being shuffled was a much bigger part of the offense's lack of success than Cameron's play-calling.

Excellent news IMO.. if Gaither accepts, and is happy to be with the Ravens, then this would help our O-Line needs be fulfilled, other than some depth. Gaither at LT was the missing piece this year, just look at the year before WITH Gaither at LT, and this year with the complete void of Gaither.

I would be thrilled if we got Gaither back. Hopefully he'll be back on the left and healthy.

Gaither back on the left side would improve our running and passing game instantly. Hope he stays, he's a top 3 tackle when healthy.

It's the "and healthy" that worries me. In 2009 we were constantly juggling the line to make up for Gaither's absences. That's why the Ravens wanted to put Oher on the left this year; they were hoping for stability. We got stable, but we didn't get real good.

I definitely feel that this could be a tremendous step in the right direction if we can get him on a low cost, highly incentive-laden deal.

Well in fairness to Gaither (with that injury in 09), he got stuck up in a Pats DE and jammed his neck pretty bad.

I just hope Rosenhaus doesn't make negotiations difficult. He and his client have little leverage but you never know.

We'll go on a witch hunt if he does.

WOO! hopefully they can work something out and then put him back at LT if hes healthy. can he actually resign and everything though? or do we have to wait till a certain time?

Love the move, but his health is a big question mark, so he should come nice and cheap. Make it incentive-laden so he'll have some more motivation.

This is great news, hopefully it's a decent 3 year deal and Gaither moves back to Left Tackle. Oher is a better RT and getting Gaither back at LT would be huge. Hopefully after Gaither, Yanda is soon to follow with a new contract and back to playing RG.

This is great news.

They should give this boy an incentive laced contract. If he gets out there and is beastly, its a win win scenario. If he's always injured, than it's a win-lose (even though we'd still be losing games).

In my opinion this is the single most important piece of news for our offense. Bringing him back and moving Oher back to RT, move Yanda to RG, wow our offensive line would be elite. Run game solved. Pass protection solved. This HAS TO HAPPEN.

If the "league source" in the article that stated Gaither was healthy is correct this is HUGE for the upcoming draft. Allowing Ozzie to focus on WR,DE/OLB, MLB..../BPA

Exactly. Most Mock Drafts I have seen have us taking a OT as early as the second, most are still giving us Brandon Harris in the 1st. The Minute Gaither signs a new contract, our offensive line becomes strong once again and we would only have to worry about getting Yanda signed and drafting Birk's replacement in the draft.

That's what I'm waiting on. Back problems are concerning because they aren't hard to alleviate. But being an NFL athlete sure has an advantage. Next up is Kindle.

If we get Gaither back to where he can play LT again, and Kindle back to where he can play football again. Plus the 6 new draft picks coming in, we arguably will have had the best off season possible.

Don't forget Foxy comin' back.

Unless we get hit with the injury bug this offseason, our team's looking a lot better.

Damn thats right, and our #1 corner comes back. Pft if Ozzie pulls off this Gaither deal, and we get Kindle some magic sauce this off season went from dog doo doo to pretty damn good in about 1 day.

I'm really excited about Foxworth and how much he stepped up in '09 when called upon. 6 passes defended and 3 INT in his last 3 regular season games, and 18 combined tackles in 2 postseason games. He wasn't a shutdown guy but he stopped being picked on.

Funny how things change. This time last year (before Oher's season) we were practically taking a collection to put Gaither on a plane to Buffalo.
