Whats The Scariest Thing That's Ever Happened To You?

45 posts in this topic

I'm pretty interested in scary stories, true or fake. True scary stories are more detailed and a lot more interesting because its real, but fake ones can come with more imagined things, and as a result, be just as interesting as true stories. Over time, true stories get carried with fake details to make stories more interesting. Ghosts, U.F.O's, dreams, strange occurences, I love to hear them all.

This introduction serves the purpose of setting up my question:

Whats the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?? I am interested in hearing your stories, whether True or Fake. I'd like them to be true stories, but if they have some fake details in them to make them scarier/more vivid, then its fine with me. If your story is purely fictional, can you please say "Fictional" at the end of your post??

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing the stories; as I believe everyone has their own story to tell. Just open up about it!

You may be interested in the youtube series Slenderman started by Marble Hornets

Others have started their own similar series, but this is the original and the best. I didn't find it too scary while watching, but it springs up in my head from time to time while closing up the office in the evenings.

or
Marriage.

while I am trying to garner real stories, I'll have to admit.... this was pretty funny, Pu!

I woke up one morning and she was still there. I asked her what she was doing, and she told me that she made breakfast. I told her I wasn't hungry, but she got upset so I had to eat. I told her that I was late for work, and I had to leave, then she offered to drive me because her kids elementary school was on the way and she could pick them up after she took me back home in the afternoon. I told her that was too kind and she insisted that it wasn't a huge deal. She then offered to make me dinner and asked if I wanted to go out again sometime.

It was a nightmare.

Quagmire and I share the same feeling.

A lot of people don't believe in clingy women. They call it "superstitious nonsense". But to those of us who have witnessed these paranormal beings - we know all too well.

One time I thought I had a cling-er in my house. It turned out it was just a ghost, but for that moment was scary as hell. :bitenails:

Oh thank goodness it was just a ghost. If not, you would have had a real problem on your hands. There's nothing scarier than what we've both encountered at least once in our lives

A priest can get rid of a ghost, but a girl can get rid of a priest. It's like rock paper scissors where the ghost beats the clingy girl - unless the ghost has a cute butt. In that case you're stuck!

When I was 14 I got shot in the legs riding my bike.

This sounds weird but I've always wanted to know what it feels like. I'm one of those people that likes pain. It makes me feel alive. I find a rush in getting hit, hitting things, getting cuts and saying "that's a nice one", etc

Well it wasn't pleasant, more surreal than anything especially considering what happened after. It's not so much pain as a sort of pulse followed by a sharp burning feeling, the rehab sucked.

Anyone that watches Haunted History knows Gettysburg Pa is one of the most haunted places on earth, so they say. Couple years ago we met my best friend from grade school and her husband there for dinner, he is a huge Civil War buff and they live in NJ. I have heard about strange stuff that happens on the battle fields but never gave it a thought. We were traipsing around looking at the monuments when a thunderstorm came up. I tried to put my van window up but for some reason it would not go up and the radio would not turn on, of course by now I am soaked so we decided to go to head home. We got off the battlefield road and the radio came back on so I tried the window and it went right up. Don't know what happened, and it never happened again in that van, just very strange and freaked my kids out.

I've seen/gone through a lot of crazy stuff.
I can't recall everything at this very moment but here's a few brief stories.
I'm not going into details, but everything is true, and in some cases I won't explain much or what I've seen just for personal reasons or some things/stories I won't talk about openly over the internet.

The first, is sort of a perfect beginning to a weird horror story, I was either in pre-school or in early elementary.
I was in the living room with one of my brothers and a cousin. My brother is 8 years older than me, and my cousin a few years old than me.
They were on the couch, and I was walking around the room and noticed something outside of the screen door, which had been unlocked (since then I have never left a door unlocked, and people even get on me about it today for this)
I walked closer towards the door and noticed a skinny, short, pale and bald old man standing sideways to the doorway with his hands together, praying and mumbling to himself. That image alone, sticks with me for so many reasons. Think of the old man from Poltergeist.
I told my brother and cousin because it was a strange site as well as scary, and as they got up and saw him he walked through the door towards us, and he was still mumbling something.
Being that young, we didn't know how to defend ourselves so my older brother and cousin ran and hide in the other room, so I ran into the bathroom where my mom was and told here about it, so she came out, freaked out like the rest of us, and you know when you here of people, particularly mothers having super human strength in times like these, she screamed at him so loud and threw him out of the house.
At this point the yelling had been heard by some lady that was apparently looking for the guy.
He was just some old crazy guy that had gotten away from the person looking after him.
Nonetheless it was terrifying at that young of an age, and the image of him was crazy too.
A week or so later we saw him again walking the streets...

A couple years later, early to mid elementary, I was playing soccer or baseball, can't recall, outside in a field behind my house, with a few friends. The field was a school field that was surrounded by houses on each side.
We heard screaming from little girls a few houses away from mine, near where we were playing.
We saw them running out of the house, I immediately knew who they were since I went to school with them.
They were running around the yard screaming things and it turns out the father had just murdered the mother...

A few years later, when I was in 6th grade, across the field behind my house a woman was found hanging in the front doorway of her house. Later I had heard there were stab wounds, but I'm not sure whether they were self inflicted or she was killed...creepy.

In that same house, which is a funny story, I was walking up the steps to the bathroom, which is weird because there was a bathroom on both floors. I walked into the bathroom and was about to turn on the light when I saw something in the bathroom, in the dark.
I freaked out and jumped down the entire stairs case, all 20 or so steps, landed and smashed my knee into the door, denting a steel enforced front door, with no injury to my knee somehow.
It turned out, after one of my brothers investigated, that I saw my own reflection in a mirror...
It's amazing, not only that I was able to leap the entire staircase, but that I didn't injury my knee.
However a few years later I had quit soccer and field goal kicking because of that knee, actually I think it was discovering girls that made me quit...

A couple years later, in the same house, 8th or 9th grade, I was talking to my girlfriend, at the time, on the phone late at night, 2-3am-ish, and I was looking out my bedroom window into the field I've talked about earlier.
I saw this white blur moving around the field, and as it got closer to the house, I had noticed it was a girl.
She walked up the fence in the back of house and walked away. It was strange. I had told my girlfriend about it because the situation was so strange.
A few minutes later she came, back and decided to lay down against the fence, for no apparent reason, right against the fence, couldn't be any closer. So it weirded me out I decided to knock on my brothers door because I knew he was still awake, so he and my dad went downstairs and outback to see what was going on with her, and if she needed help.
Turns out she just got up and left. Looking back on it, she was either on drugs or crazy, maybe both.

In Highschool I had cut class with friends and went downtown to the city, and anyone familiar with Baltimore City, we were on Charles street and that was when I saw my first dead body, at a gas station no less...

More recently I've seen the actual Baltimore City projects. A lot of people have an idea of what the ghetto is, but when you actually have been to the projects, deep in them, at night, you haven't seen the real thing. That was a very scary moment for me. The type of places that cops tell white people not to be in because they think you're either buying drugs or are in harms way. I was simply in a car with my friend, dropping a friend from work at home.
Honestly, on our way there, you get the feeling like ok, I need to watch out around here, but then the deeper you get, it's like wow, the cops wouldn't even come here if something happened, not without enough back up.
I know that might sound terrible, but it was very scary, and I've lived in the city for a long time, lived a street away from the ghetto, but really, it's not like the projects, and it's sad.

That's off the top of my head, and not all UFO or ghost type things, even though I have plenty of those stories, I'm not going to get into them, age does that to you.
Some other good stories are best told in person.
I've tried to be brief with these stories and not say too much, or explain too much emotion or detail.

I hope it's been good for an interest or at least a laugh.
These aren't the scariest things I've ever seen or been through.

Back in the autumn of 2007, I went with some friends of mine to attend a speech in Oak Ridge, and after we left, we had to stop by to check on some rental properties over in Oliver Springs which my friends owned. While on the way to the property, we were driving along a fog-shrouded road, missed a curve, and the pickup truck we were in fell into a large ditch. I can recall the truck tipping and leaning, and then falling into the ditch, and I was fearful that we wouldn't get out of the truck for a while. Fortunately, there were some local residents in the area who saw and heard what happened, and came to our aid. Local authorities were also notified, and we were rescued from the truck. We managed to get home with the help of another friend.

I was scared for the rest of the week, and into the weekend.

When I was 18, I was driving my brother and I to school and we were in the left lane of the highway. A van decided that it was going to make its left turn from the street to get onto the highway and jumped out after the car in the right lane went past, but the idiot didn't pay attention to the fact that I was in the other lane. I saw it coming and quickly yanked the car over into the center turning lane to avoid hitting the van. Right then a car started to enter the turn lane in front of me, so I had to quickly yank the car in the other direction. Executing two fast emergency turns like that threw me into a full skid and I ended up in a spin across the two lanes of traffic. Ultimately I ended up stopped sideways across the highway about 2 feet from the sidewalk and miraculously I hit nothing. All the traffic was stopped dead for a few seconds as they watched this happen. Then the van that started the whole thing gunned it to run because I think the driver knew he was in deep **** if he got reported. After my brother and I took a few seconds to breathe, I started the car up (killed the engine during the spin since it was a stick and I was in gear) and managed to drive to school, still shaking the whole way.

Since you mentioned dreams: I've dreamed that I couldn't get my family out of our burning home. Nothing is more terrifying.

Scariest dream: When my mom was a medevac nurse, I dreamed one night that they were transporting a patient and the engines failed and the plane crashed. Scared the hell out of me.

It didn't help that two weeks later their plane had one of the engines fail as they were starting to leave the area. Luckily they were able to turn around and land the plane. :o

Flying in general scares me these days (Ever since that Delta flight in Pittsburgh crashed in 1994. Turned out to be a bad rudder actuator and the pilots were powerless to stop the plane from going inverted and crashing).

In the Coast Guard, I was on a many a plane that lost an engine, but when we lost the #1 hydraulic system I was a bit nervous (made an emergency landing).

I have a dead body story too: Had to pull a corpse out of the Atlantic Ocean. Dude committed suicide about a month before.
