Yea, brutal decision!
I think they're all awesome, Iron Maiden, Killers, Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind. I just like Powerslave a little more because of Harris' work. Of course, his work on all their stuff is amazing, I just like Powerslave the most. Seventh Son has some amazing bass also.
Powerslave was the first Maiden album I bought, so I have a soft spot for it lol Rime of the Ancient Mariner is epic on multiple levels.

On a personal note, how did I never know that Coheed and Cambria covered "The Trooper"? I'm a huge Coheed fan, and I cannot figure out how I missed it.

Indeed it is! I was in a band that played the entire song. ;)

I believe there are several Maiden cover albums. The one that has Metallica's Remember Tomorrow is tough to find. Is that the one the Coheed song is on? I believe Kerrang released it, I could only find it on European websites, for about $95. I'd like to hear it, but sure as heck not for that much!

Yup, both Coheed's and Metallica's covers are on Miaden Heaven, which was released by Kerrang.

Just caught the Coheed on youtube. Sounds pretty good. I believe Dream Theater does a song on Maiden Heaven also. Wonder if I could find it on ebay or somewhere else for less than $95??? Do you have it Demon?

Nope :( I've never been a big reader of Kerrang. I was just looking up Maiden covers and saw Coheed's.

No worries. Piece of Mind was my first Maiden album. I bought Number of the Beast after that (yes a bit backwards)

OK, I'm drunk and just listened to my favorite Maiden song "Where Eagles Dare"

10 bonus points for whoever can say what is interesting about the cymbals.

Another 10 points, to what area are they referring to which only eagles dare?

Big Metallica fan. If you like them, good chance you would like Avenged Sevenfold. Any A7X fans out there?

Sorry, but if you like Metallica that doesn't give you a good chance of liking Avenged Sevenfold. They're not the same style of metal, nor do they share very many similarities. Avenged was good back on "Waking the Fallen", and started going downhill quickly.

I love Metallica. When i first heard Unholy Confessions i was hooked on Avenged. I find alot of fans are similar, but no 2 persons ears are the same though everones entitled to their own opinion. Avenged cites Metallica as a major influence. I think Avenged is the most talented band out there. Every album has a different feel and no 2 songs are alike. City of Evil is one of the best albums ever. From Beast and the Harlot to Trashed and Scattered they flow into each other amazingly. They have evolved so much from what the waking the fallen, they`re song writing is next to none. Afterlife is the most well constructed song i have ever heard. The self titled album is a treat to listen to. I dare anyone to listen to Gunslinger at full volume and not get chills. A Little Piece of Heaven is the most crazy and beautiful song, written by the late Rev on a 2 day binge were he never left the house. After seeing these guys live they do not disappoint. Matts voice is so powerful and raw. Synester Gates is one heck of a guitarist. Jimmy the Rev, bless his soul, is the greatest drummer in history. Just listen to Pinkly Smooth his high school band, amazing drum tracks and he is singing at the same time.
Sorry, but no. Matt's voice is powerful? Seriously? There's nothing about his clean singing that stands out, but then again neither did his screams. But at least his screams were interesting. Truthfully, Gates is the only person in that band with any resemblance of talent. Their songwriting is "second to none"? I can probably name a dozen bands who are better at songwriting than Avenged. "City of Evil" was not a bad album, it had some good songs, but their self-titled was terrible, "Afterlife" was the only good song on it.

However, it's very, very obvious that your a fanboy, so it really doesn't matter what my opinion of the band is. But I'm not the only one who feels that they're a decent (at best) band with average musicians (save one), who make average songs. Not to mention, they've gone from "metalcore" to just rock. It's the metal-ignorant that claim they're "real metal".

They dont claim to be under any particular genre, they have openly stated that. You could say that every album could be classified under a different genre. They make the music they want and have never claimed to be metal. Theyve constantly evolved as a band from Sounding the Seventh Trumpet to Nightmare. No mention for the Rev? One of the greatest drummers ever.

Iam a big fan yes, but im also open to every type of music every band. Compared to alot of music ive heard, id say there a little more then average musicians though.

The Rev was good, yes, but not "one of the greatest ever". Mike Portnoy, who temporarily replaced him, was a much better drummer. Like I said, Shadows is nothing to write home about, Vengeance plays second fiddle to Gates and is decent, and Christ is unheard of on every nearly every album. "Nightmare" was better than their self-titled, but they could have wrote an album in an hour that was better than it (since I assume they wrote their self-titled in half an hour, and fifteen minutes of that was put to use writing "Afterlife").

Not trying to be a jerk, just my feelings on Sevenfold.

Haha no worries bro, entitled to your own opinion. I saw Portnoy live last summer with the band he was so sick, not close to the rev though. Zacky definetely plays second fiddle, but he can shred it when given the opportunity. Christ is kept fairly quiet, tracks like Brompton Cocktail and Scream they really turn up his sound. Dont agree with you on the self titled album though, plus Afterlife is on Diamonds in the Rough. Self titled was kind of a concept album, toying around with different feels and melodies. They put alot of work into that album, i think its genious. Nightmare was supposed to be something completely different then it is, but with the death of the rev it obviously changed to a little more mellow and sullen. Trippy thing is Rev wrote and recorded his vocal tracks on Fiction 3 days before his death.

Avenged headlining the Revolver awards April 20th cannot wait!

I saw Machine Head open for Metallica back in 08, I wasn't impressed. They opened for them for half of that tour, the other half was Lamb of God which I'm even less a fan of.

Yep, that's how I heard they sucked. I was actually supposed to go to one of those shows in Newark, but I opted for the SB instead.

Did you guys know you can now go to the Metallica Web site and download the audio to the show you were at? It's free and they also have a sleeve download w/ set list for your CD.

I saw them live at the first Mayhem Fest and they didn't suck in the least. Amazing performance actually, and I'll be seeing them again at this year's Mayhem Fest.
