Ice Football?

Ok so I was thinking what if they mixed Football and hockey together. I thought of ice football! Its just like football but on ice and indoors of course. The rules are the same except the field would have to be smaller I think to fit in an ice arena. The game itself would be easier i think this way too. Then I thought is this sport even possible.
Here are the problems:
1. safety-ice skates are sharp and the risk of injury is high. Would lots of padding help?
2. Field goals and kickoffs- i do not know if its possible to kick a football with ice skates on.
3. The ball- keep it like a football or make an entirely new type of game ball?
4. Would you do it?

lol I know this sounds kinda weird and bizarre but would you do this sport?
I think its possible. Thoughts? Just imagine a NIFL-National Ice Football League!

Sounds dangerous. I think you would need to take the tackling out of it. Make it more of a flag type of sport. Those blades can be dangerous. Hockey guys still need to make legal hits. Maybe use those type of hits.

Make the ice the size of a field, keep the players limited, and a person is down when they are 'checked'.

Flags sound cool. Maybe if the wore neck pads and helmets and lots of other pads it could have checking. If a person slips he is automatically down. Maybe even two hand touch?
This could be the next like super dangerous sport.
i think it would be hard to pass. It would be more running.

Sounds like a concussion nightmare if you ask me.

They should just call the sport 'Concussion'.

Better yet...What about tackle Baseball...The runner is rounding third and is tackled by the third baseman before he gets home. Since this is end of season chatter i would throw it out there!

Advantage me haha, I would so be down. Like someone stated you wouldn't be able to have tackling, too many heads would be slamming off the ice, you'd have to turn it into hitting or checking like hockey. It would be extremely tough to be an Olinemen on Ice or a DB, it'd take too long for the linemen to get setup with the way they have to setup, the Dlinemen would blow right by them or just bowl them over haha. DB's would have to be the fastest skaters in the world because half the time they'd be backing up.

Safety would probably be the funnest position if they added Ice and skates.

How would you throw the ball? So much of throwing a football is about how you torque your body. It's like Baseball. If you see a pitcher's front foot slip a bit on the mound while he's throwing the ball, speed goes down drastically.

I can't see how that's done on skates.

It's all about the plant foot, and you can plant your feet in skates, that's how you stop. It would be tough stepping into the throws, but even when throwing you're suppose to rely on your arm more than stepping into it. 50 yard bombs would be unlikely.

If you want to keep tackling, instead of skates, wear the shoes that the trainers use. You get some, but not a lot of traction. But tackling on that hard ice is just asking for a concussion. Better use a helmet with padding on both sides.

They should combine every sport into one mega-sport. Then they should make everything that isn't a sport into a sport, such as putting away tupperwear and waking up in the morning. Then combine those sports with the mega-sport and call it "life". Last one standing wins. Ice is also involved.

Now your talking. Bats, Pads, Skates and tall guys (NBA's contribution). Throw in a puck, football and Basketball. Then put in a net, FG post and hoop. Blow the whistle...and go!!!
