Where's 1/28/01? This topic was made for him!

You read my mind. He must be sleeping in.

THE greatest day on earth. At least one of them. The other, my birth.

I wasn't that heavy into football at the time (I didn't watch regularly until 2003), so I regret having missed out on that experience. That's probably why I'm so starved for a championship. I still get goosebumps watching highlights of that game, though, mainly because I love the name on the front of those jerseys so much. It's as if I got to bask in that championship glow by proxy.

My girlfriend is from Houston, TX, and she never was a football fan. Then she moved out East, met me, and got to experience the Ravens every Sunday. Now she's a fan of the sport, but most importantly of the Ravens. She didn't see the Super Bowl 10 years ago because she wasn't into football at the time and even if she had been the Ravens wouldn't have meant anything to her then. But she's a crazed Ravens fanatic like the rest of us now, so tonight we're planning to sit down in front of the TV and watch the game.

Same here man. I watched the game and have vague memories but I was only 12 at the time and not that into football. Still it's exciting to watch clips from that season.

If only we took care of business in the 2nd half of the steelers game we would be making a new memory this year as well. Oh well theres always the year after this one.

In related news, 25 years ago today, the space shuttle Challenger blew up a minute after launch.

Debbie Downer!

It was great driving home after watching the game at a bar. People were in the streets, high fiving me as I drove by.

I was in the 8th grade. We watched it live. Horrible.

Congrats on the Ravens anniversary. I remember that day too; it ruined my Father's weekend. lol

I was only 10 at the time and had absolutely no idea what was going on since I didn't follow football at all, but I cheered for the Ravens since I was living in Maryland. I can barely remember what happened and actually thought the game was boring because the Ravens defense completely shut down the Giants. I wish I had been able to really follow that season and just see how great that Ravens defense was. That's why 2006 is my favorite season because I finally understood the game and could appreciate a great defense. Unfortunately the end result wasn't the same, but I still love that year.

okay I full admit this is a hijack but I just joined this message board and it's not letting me start my own thread. My question is somewhat related since it has to do with Ravens history. :)

Can any of you diehard fans tell me what year the Ravens switched from wearing white road pants to their dark road pants? Has this change been done permanently or do the Ravens sometimes cart out their white road pants? Thanks.

i remember it too, I was in fourth grade. We were living in Tampa at the time, and the whole school was directed out to the yard to watch the space shuttle take off (yup, it took off in Cape Canaveral and was visible across the state in Tampa).
Fortunately all we could really see the entire time was the smoke trail of the launch rising and rising, then all of a sudden it stopped. I think some of the teachers must have seen it explode cause they had a shocked look on their face before we even heard over the intercom what happened.

and glad to hear about your dad lol, hopefully we ruin another day for him next year.

3 years ago when Harbaugh came. They still wear the white on white usually in the warmer months.

Funny, I was wondering that myself a few days ago. They wear the white paints with the purple jerseys consistently though right?

I can only recall white on black though in the last few years when they're on the road.

I was sitting in "Raven" James Stadium with tears running down my face, happy as all get out that I had run up my credit cards to be there for our first Super Bowl win. It's an experience that can never be repeated. I still wonder if the purple and gold confetti would have been used had the Giants won. Do you think they had separate pre-loaded confetti cannons for the two teams?

Now, if only I could get the opportunity to go into debt to see our second Super Bowl.

They must have. I think that may have been the last SB to do that too. The confetti they use now seems to be SB themed. Ours in 2008 was green, blue and orange.

The Pats got Red, White and Blue, but so did everyone for a few years.

Sure do. Two different cannon sets as well as two sets of Superbowl clothes. The losing teams clothes get donated to third world countries. True Story, I think.

You would think it wouldn't be too hard. But there must be a lot of Bills fans in third world countries. 'Back in the 90's, we use to get a lot of Bills Superbowl Champion shirts'.
