Why Are The Steelers So Good Consistently?

Pretty much if your team is in the Superbowl everything is put under a magnifying glass, you have to take the good with the bad
[/quote]

It has definitely become that way, but this guy and his article are a little over the top. His charges are only of the Steelers when in fact nearly every team has the same skeletons (Steroids, arrests, deaths, dirty play accusations, rule changes and on and on).

Yes, that is not a mystery. However, once they turned it around, they've been pretty consistent (more so than most) with regards to winning and playoff appearances and obviously Super Bowl appearances/victories.

No offense ward, and I really like you, but at a time like this, you will get many haters by rooting and backing up (with your right) your team, but right now it does feel like you are just wiping it in. I have nothing personal against you, note that.

I never rub anything in. I was clearing up exactly what was being discussed and asked about. It wasn't the Steelers from 1933-1971. That's all.

Do you guys really want to know why the Steelers keep beating the Ravens? It's because God hates Jon. Get rid of him and we're toast.

You make a very convincing argument.

I 3rd that, lets try it for a season and see how we do. If the Ravens win the SB he can never come back!

It's all about Ben ... you know?

Cuz he ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells
Doesn't see clock a flashin'
Plays by sense of smell
Always sheds a tackler
Never throws pics at all
That smart, focused and driven kid
Sure plays a mean football!

I don't like the Steelers or The Who, but at least that was creative.

You're not worried that Hines will sprain his wrist when attempting his famous "Flying Body Spiral" on the local pole? He performs with reckless abandon.

Seriously, though, doesn't matter. As long as they get their work in and don't get into trouble, they can go anywhere they want. Especially Hines Ward, who hasn't done anything remotely troublesome off the field.

Now I know times have changed and it really has become a "What have you done for me lately" league but just look at how many Head Coaches they have had... 3. Throughout their whole Franchise, just 3. That does say something about the coaches they have had but they also have the patience of letting a coach implement his system. Chuck Noll was hired in 1969, and based off his first 3 seasons, in today's NFL he would have been fired; 1-13(1969), 5-9(1970), 6-8(1971) those records today would get a coach fired and rightfully so. Steelers didn't fire Chuck Noll after those 3 seasons because the Rooneys knew that it takes a while for a Coach to get his players and system in place. Thus in 1972 Chuck Noll led the Steelers into the playoffs and the following 7 years after which saw the Steelers win 4 Super Bowls. They later hired Bill Cowher in 1992 after Noll had retired and later Bill finally won a SB and retired in 2006 and Tomlin is now only the THIRD Head Coach in Franchise history.

All I'm saying is maybe teams should start letting coaches play it out for 4-5 years to give them the proper time to turn a team around, there is a reason the Raiders aren't never any good, Al Davis keeps changing the Head Coach. If he would have gave Cable another couple years the Raiders would have been a solid playoff team. Look at Mangini, no team ever gives him anytime to turn a team around. He had the Browns going in the right direction but instead Mangini got fired. It has worked for the Steelers and that will be a reason why they won't be hiring a 4th Head Coach anytime soon and why Tomlin will be Head Coach of the Steelers for a very long time.

I agree, teams should definitely give coaches a longer time to get it done.

However the Steelers had a handful of coaches from 1933 to 1968 before they hired Chuck Noll.

Technically, the Steelers/Pirates have had 17 coaches in their 77 year existence. They've only had three since they became relevant and people started giving a crap about them.

Despite being the losers of the NFL, they always had a stadium full of loyal fans. The Steelers were not a priority of Art Rooney for a while. In fact, he sold them and then bought them back.

Why don't you leave the Steelers history up to me. ;)
