Ravens On PFW's Super 50

30 posts in this topic

Pro Football Weekly has started their "Super 50" list which ranks players strictly on what they did during the 2010 season.

"Coaches and evaluators" league-wide contributed to the list so it's got some merit.

Here's the first entry.

Link

Flacco is an honorable mention. Matt Cassel is ranked #47.

Ray is ranked #42, sandwiched between Larry Fizgerald and DeSean Jackson and ahead of first team All-Pro Jerod Mayo.

I'd struggle to finish that list of forty remaining names given the ten already in place and the honorable mention list.

Brady is surely top, however.

If they got Tamba Hali, Peyton Hillis, Brandon Lloyd and McFadden as Honorable mentions, this list better be good....

For what those 4 guys did for their teams, I would put them ahead of Larry Fitzgerald....

Cassel over Flacco is a joke..look what happened when Cassel actually played a good team in the playoffs

Yeah but Cassel was more valuable to his team. He started off slow and turned it up with Bowe in the last 10 games.

I think Flacco could of went there instead but It's whatever.

Part 2 came out today.

On the Ravens' front, Rice is ranked #37 and in between Asomugha and Tramon Williams.

I'm taking note of the QBs to get an idea of where the league sees Flacco fitting in. Jay Cutler is ranked #40.

I don't know about a "joke". I could see an argument either way, but you have to admit, the Cassel to Bowe connection was pretty nice there for a bit. You can't throw one game out there. I mean, look how Flacco played against the Bengals, and they sucked this year. That wouldn't be a fair assessment of his whole season.

Fair point, but the Chiefs had a doo doo schedule this year. Anyone who doesnt admit that is kidding themselves. Flacco would have done more than Cassel did this year against some of those defenses Cassel played.

Cassel had one of the best O-lines in the league and the best running game to set up his throws. Not to mention the lack of good defenses he had to play against. No QB had an easier time under center.

so this list is based on what the player did during the season right? or is it who was most important to their team?
Seems to be a combination of both, which adds to the confusion...

then it should've included the playoffs too right? lol cause then Flacco should be where Cassell is IMO. Flacco didnt have any like "huge" games this year, but he was good enough for this team to make it to the playoffs and blowout Cassell's chiefs.

I agree, Flacco should be over Cassell. Especially when you consider how utterly crappy our running game and offensive line was, the burden of moving the ball fell on Joe and the receivers. But, who cares about these? They're not official by any means.

By the way, when do the MVP, OPOY, and DPOY awards come out?

Like you said, nobody cares about these, not even our own fans. Get Joe a good offensive line, get the running atack going again, inject some youth and quickness into this offense, and Flacco can put up AR numbers. But for some reason, the FO seems to neglect one or more of these areas, repetitively.

Not true.

The o-line was addressed but nobody anticipated Gaither losing 30lbs. and going down the entire season, or the two backup tackles both getting hurt before the season started.

The WRs with quickness and speed caught two balls between them, ran 6 end arounds and the two fastest TEs were often forgotten.

Andre Johnson is #21.

JOSH FREEMAN makes the list at #27.

Flacco would be at the bottom of the list if it included play offs, a pick, and a bobbled fumble in the 3rd quarter on the first play of 2 drives right after Ray Rice fumbled on the first play of the first drive, letting the steelers get back into the game. I love joe but...come on mannnn..

That play wasn't his fault.

This list claims it's the "Top 50 players of 2010", and the league interception leader and the guy billed as the most dominant defensive tackle in the league don't make the top 20?

It's definitely losing credibility in my eyes.

Yeah, that wasn't a bobbled fumble in any way shape or form. Center snapped it into his own leg and it bounced forward in front of him, Joe couldn't get anywhere near it and never touched the ball and it wasn't his fault.

Here's part 5. Link

I think I gave the people who helped create this list too much credit. The top 5 QBs and Peppers aside, none of the other four are top 10 material in my book.
