OLD SCHOOL SMASH BALL

Packers Are Super Bowl XLV Champions!

1,031 posts in this topic

Since it hasn't been posted yet and nobody cares for the Pro Bowl, here is some major SB news. Rookie Center Maurkice Pouncey is OUT for Super Bowl 45. It was confirmed by Adam Schefter earlier this morning that he will indeed miss the Super Bowl.

http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/story/09000d5d81e009da/article/ankle-likely-to-keep-steelers-center-pouncey-out-of-super-bowl?module=HP_headlines

How will this effect the Steelers offensive line against BJ Raji and Clay Matthews? I think this could open the door for Matthews to have a big game next week and Raji could certainly wreck the steelers offensive line, maybe he'll get another interception and return it for a pick 6.

Well good thing you wouldn't need to worry about that. But I agree. It would just be awkward and plus I wouldn't be allowed to have my 'Ravens' man cave.

Very good point.

I've read all the In's and all the Out's. Reports seem to contradict each other on daily basis. Pouncey is out only if he doesn't dress come Sunday. If he is indeed out, Lagursky will fill in just fine. It looked to me as though Steelers went into cruise control the 2nd half of Jets game, but not because of losing big P ...

Watching Media Day. Brett Keisel started growing out his beard in June of 2010 and he hasn't touched it since, no trimming no nothing. Well if there is no Football Next Year he can kill time being Santa Clause during Christmas time lol.

I now know what needs to be done to ensure the Steelers lose. We must find Keisel and we must cut off his 'playoff' beard. It's the only logical solution. Who's with me?

LOL than we'll lock him out of any job if there is no NFL, I mean it's obvious he is growing the beard to be Santa Clause during the winter time lol. I'm with you.... but we are going to need a weed wacker and I'm not sure if we can get a weed wacker on a plane so we'll just need Ray Rice to send us a bunch of Gilette Razors and blades... or we can do both!

I'm just hoping the commercials are better this year... they've been pretty awful the past couple of years.

Companies just don't have the amount of money to afford high production cost commercials right now.

It has been announced that Walt Anderson and his crew will be officiating Super Bowl 45 on Sunday. This is Walt's second Super Bowl appearance.

Is there anyone else who isn't going to watch the SB?
[/quote]

Still debating. Last time the Steelers were in the SB, I turned it on for the kickoff then I asked myself "Why am I even watching this crap?" and turned it off. Might do the same this year. But at least the Packers give me more hope than the Cardinals.

If the Packers do win the Super Bowl, or overall even if they lose, the way the Packers developed Aaron Rodgers letting him sit behind Favre for a couple years, will this change the way teams go about Rookie QBs and letting guys like Gabbert, Locker, Mallett and other QBs sit for a couple seasons behind a veteran QB because they see what it did for Rodgers?

You would think. But the way coaches get fired so quickly nowadays, it almost forces the coaches hands to start their young QB if the team is poor. Usually that's why you draft a QB early, because your sucks.

Not all teams have the luxury of drafted a young guy and letting him sit behind a HOFer. Look at who Sanchez, Flacco, Ryan, Henne, McCoy and Clausen followed. Nobodies.

It's tough for teams to hold off on starting their QBs when the fans and owners are clamoring for them.

Today on Sirius they (the crew and Joe Montana) were discussing college QB's spending too much time in the Shotgun and not enough time under center and learning the basics of good foot work. With this in mind, unless the guy is indeed an instant starter like Peyton, Ben, Carson and perhaps a few others, it'd probably be better to be an understudy for a little bit.

Like Flacco. He used the gun all the time in Delaware. He should have been groomed for a while with a clip board. But he has really done a good job coming from a small football school where he ran the gun.

Yea, so did Ben for a few games, but I believe they both could have started right away.

No idea. Never watched a single game of his.

I DO know that he only started one year at QB in high school though. Apparently the coaches son was a QB too. haha. Wonder where he is these days.

IM RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!! jk lol

I wanna know how many other kids have had that happen to but still go on to play pro. I just read an article on Shaun Hill who's dad was his HS coach, but clearly Hill wasn't just a "daddys my coach" player.

And thats what makes Andrew Luck one of the best prospects in a loooooong time at QB imo.

That reminds me of a joke: How do you spell "rap?" C-R-A-P... the "C" is silent.

I like some rap, don't get me wrong, but that "cover" was pretty awful.
