Ipad Vs Android Tablet

6 posts in this topic

We are in the market to get either of the aforementioned items in order to "stimulate" our son when we're driving, at the folks house, friends house etc etc etc.

My brother in law has the Ipad and his youngest LOVES it (evidenced while we were in the Philippines ALL DAY LONG).

Now, I'm all for the lastest and greatest, but I have a droid and never made the switch to Mac computers, so the Ipad would be like going abanist the grain for me.

Anyone out there have either? Any insight?

Side note: If we go Ipad, we're going to have to wait until spring time for the newer release since it will then come equipped with a camera.

The Android seems like the better operating system after using both. Android has many more options, and is more flexible with setting and personalization. The operation seems more seamless and fast, with fewer lock ups and crashing.

I'm also going to be in the market for a tablet in a few months. My partner just got an iPad and while he likes it, I noticed something that would annoy me. He was trying to download an MP3 from a website the other night, and the native Safari browser would not let him do that. He ended up trying 2-3 different apps before he could finally get it to download. If that is going to be the experience with the iPad, that I have to try different apps in order to do simple functions like saving and downloading files that are available on websites, then I won't be a happy camper.

Also, I do already own an Android based phone and I like it a lot. However, I want to try out any tablets that are running the Honeycomb release before I'd make a final decision.
