A Week Later, Where Does This Loss Rank?

124 posts in this topic

It's #1 for me all-time in terms of hurt, given the way that it happened. It's #1, followed by:

#2. the 06 loss to the Colts, at home and holding Colts to 0 tds and 5 fgs

#3. 03 loss at home in the playoffs to the Titans that I attended and watched Derrick Mason burn Gary Baxter for the game winning td

2006 Colts loss was worse. You could even throw in the 2007 loss to the Patriots, I still get mad over that one if I'm reminded of it.

Id rank it at #1 as well. The way we had them in the palm of our hands and just completely buckled in third quarter kills me. Not only that, to see the Jets beat the Pats means we would of had a home game that everyone wanted. We beat the Jets in the season, I feel like we could do it again, then we had either the Bears or the Packers, both of which dont have a very good OL.

Man, I'd blocked out that 2007 Pats loss. That one was a bad bad bad loss.

2006 loss to the Colts was bad and it was worse for me because we fought our hearts out that game. Any time you hold Manning to 15 pts and 0 TDs, you deserve to win.

This one was bad no doubt, but our play the 2nd half did not warrant a win. It hurt. I felt bad for guys like Lewis, Reed, Mason. But in the end, we gave the game away.

Yeah... good times... That, plus it was at home. The entire city of Baltimore was filled with energy, heck, the entire state of Maryland! The Colts were coming back to town and we were going to show them what's up! I was a little bit younger, too, so I had naive expectations. The offense came out and laid an egg... Boo.

I say it is fate. All we can do is trying our best, and the rest is to leave it for fate. 70% is effort and 30% is fate, so if things didn't go as plan, at least we try out best to pursue it.

If you don't try your best, you will not know the results.

I remember in that Colts game Ray tipped two passes that would have been interceptions for Reed and McAlister I think. So unlucky.
But still, that Steeler game. To go from such a high to a low in a matter of 30 minutes, smh

I agree the one against the Pats, even though meaningless, meant everything. But for me its the AFCCG loss that sent the Steelers to the Superbowl, where they won. That was bad. One game away. Made me feel so dirty for months.

I don't think I was civil for a month after the Colts game, my family threatened to leave lol. Maybe with everything going on with my mom, the flu and breaking my foot no room to get too evil. NFLN is dead to me until July. The AFCCG the team was lucky to field a team so I was just surprised we made it that far.

Your right we got lucky to get that AFCCG. No bye week, crazy amount of players on IR. Rookie QB, HC. Losing it wasn't that big of a deal. But the fact that we sent the Steelers to the Superbowl, and they won was why it was a tough loss for me.

This loss definitely ranks a distant #2 for me. The 2006 Divisional playoff game against the Colts is far more painful to me. We were 13-3 AFC North Champions. #2 seed with a 1st round bye playing the Colts at home in Baltimore. There was an opportunity there to help expunge 22 years of hatred and anger. It was all there in the palm of the city's hands. They lost it and to make it that much worse, the Colts went on to win the Superbowl.

That one sticks with me to this day and doesn't get any worse. I think the younger fans will have a different view, but if you were alive and a fan in 1984 and watched Irsay again and again deny and yell about how he was not moving the team only to move the team in the dead of night. And then to have the NFL allow them to take the name, the records and the trophies with them. Oh man, that loss hurt bad.

I was over this one in a couple of days. I am -still- pissed off about 2006.

#2. While we spent all of 2010 bickering over a team that we thought should have been a Super Bowl team, the 2006 Ravens looked every bit the part. The Super Bowl was on my mind for the entire year, I rarely even though about not winning it all. The Chargers worried me but if we could avoid them (which we would have) I have no doubt that we would have won the whole thing. The 2010 team had a shot, but nothing was ever certain. I didn't feel entitled the way I did in 2006. That Colts game was beyond heartbreaking.

Also, I woke up the very next morning with a horrific stomach virus and the worst pain I have ever felt, which lasted through the next day. So yeah, not a good weekend.

2006 Vs Colts is probably 2nd, in my opinion, since I had the displeasure of watching it unfold in person. The only reason I felt somewhat compensated was because I had the tunnel seat, and I had the chance of a lifetime to scream at Peyton Manning. And since most people around me left their seats at Halftime, I was basically the only fan left within a 5 row radius. I don't even think he was ready to hear the terrible things I fit into a 15 second stare down, and he's probably heard everything before.

I happen to think that the AFCCG was the worst loss, just because we had the chance to come back after the great punt return, until the 15 yard penalty on a Mr. Daren Stone. No single play was as heartbreaking as watching Troy cross the line with his arms out in celebration.

This one actually became laughable after a point. There's only so much yelling that a person could handle before realizing that his team is about to shoot themselves in the foot for the last time this Season, you know?

I'm still stinging from this past loss. It's not necessarily the loss itself that is unbearable. It's the way the game was given to the Squealers in a perfectly wrapped package adorned with ribbons and bows. Time heals all wounds.....unless you keep picking at it. I'm not finished picking at the scab

after the fumble by rice I was like okay fine, after the interception I was like alright. after the fumbled snap I knew it was over. I just stood there dumbstruck

The fact that we were blowing out our biggest rivals in their house during the playoffs, then let it all go makes it the worst loss in team history for me.

I don't think I've ever seen a team play with more passion than our boys did on that Monday night in 2007 against the evil undefeated Patriots. That was our Super Bowl not to mention it was the first game after Ed, Ray, Willis had lost their Miami brother Sean Taylor. SOO much passion in that game. And to see a 4-7 team play such a great game against probably the best team in the history of the game had they won the Super Bowl was just unforgettable. But to come up with the loss especially with how it happened was heartbreak that was just out of this world for me.

Same. This one is probably number 1 for me. However, the most upset I've ever got during a game was the 2007 game against NE as Brady ran for the first right after we stopped him twice.

This loss does not bother me that much, possibly due to the way in which the Ravens lost.
The loss to the Steelers in our own house, which basically set up the outcome of the playoffs, hurt a lot more than this loss to me.
While I didn't lose hope for the season after that lose, it did show me that we weren't able to stand up and be the team I thought we were moving towards.

And to be honest, once we got Boldin, and a lot of the other players we got in the offseason, I had said to myself that it was too much at once and we'd have to wait until next season to see a strong push.
Some of our players we got in the preseason may not be around for this season, but ultimately we need to simplify our offense and change the scheme.
It was just too much for a 3rd year QB and an offense that has been lacking since the debut of the team.

Some might argue that it shouldn't take a whole season to get used to throwing to a new receiver, but when you have a 3rd year QB, and 3 new WR's and 2 new TE's, and the WR's are big names and need the ball, it's hard to work that into a gameplan, while keeping it a winning formula, even though we did very good this season.

id rank the '06 loss to the colts first then this years playoff loss to the steelers. i know the steelers are our hated rival but we had a chance to pay back Irsay and the Colts for what they did to us and my family 30 years ago and we didnt. i dont know tho, the more i write this the more i get pisst, i guess both those losses should be a tie for the number one loss in ravens history!

Oh wow...yeah I had kinda forgotten about that game against the Patriots.....we almost had them....I remember crying for a couple days after that one.
Yeah this year's playoff exit against the Steelers hurt but not nearly as bad as that loss to the Patriots did.....

I respect your opinion, but I can't really understand that one.

We were terrible that year. Not sure what a win over the Patriots would have done for us.

How doe falling one game short of hosting the AFCC compare to that?

Nothing. But it felt like a Superbowl. It was about respect. We were this team that was falling apart giving monster hooks to Foreman. We had ourselves so invested and entrenched into that game. Sure it meant nothing, but it felt like everything.

The 2006 loss without a question. I was only 10 years old during the 2000 season so I couldn't really understand/remember how great that team really was defensively. 2006 was my favorite team because the defense was nothing short of amazing. What was it? 9 pro bowlers, 12 points a game, 28 interceptions, and 60 freaking sacks. That was the realist example of "Organized Chaos" I have ever seen. I really thought they were the team of destiny and couldn't be stopped.

That loss hurt bad. The offense failed the defense yet again at getting their chance to win the Super Bowl. I don't know what happened to McNair, he looked like he had lost heart during it as I remember seeing him on the sidelines. That pick on the goal line sucked the air out of the stadium. Those disappointed faces still stick in my mind even now.

I guess I had a totally different mind set. I was sad to see the Ravens lose after such a hard fought battle, but at the end I was just proud that we might have been the closest team to beat NE that year. (until that point at least)

Maybe its because I'm not a Pats hater. I really wanted to see a team go 19-0 and win the SB, and I would have no problem if that turned out to be the Pats of 07.
