I apologize in advance for mostly copying and pasting stats, it was needed to provide info for those too lazy to look.

CBs
Domonique Foxworth ($4.4M), Lardarius Webb ($480K)

S
Ed Reed ($6.5M)

K
Billy Cundiff (5 year, $15 mil deal, probably around $3 mil or less.)

Exclusive Rights Free Agents:
"The Ravens can retain the rights to these players by tendering them with a contract of $330K, $405K or $480K, depending on the player’s length of service in the league."

LS – Morgan Cox
LB – Dannell Ellerbe
LB – Sergio Kindle
RB – Matt Lawrence
OT – Bryan Mattison
OC – Daniel Sanders
DT – Kelly Talavou
CB – Carey Williams

Restricted Free Agents:
"These are players whose contracts have expired and who have more than 3 years of league service time. The team must tender the player with an RFA offer. Once done, another team can sign the RFA to an RFA offer sheet, but the Ravens then have 7 days to match that offer sheet and retain the player under the terms of that offer sheet. If the Ravens were to choose not to match the offer sheet, then they would receive compensation based on which level of RFA tender was made to the player."

"There are 4 RFA tenders:
High Tender: Allows the team to receive the other team’s 1st and 3rd round picks - $3,317,000.
Middle Tender: allows the team to receive the other team’s 1st round - $2,611,000
2nd Round Tender– Allows the team to the other team’s 2nd round pick - $1,835,000
Low Tender: allows the team to receive a draft pick equal to the round in which the player was originally drafted (as noted above after each player’s name) – $1,200,000"

RFA's:
OL - Oniel Cousins (3rd)
DT - Lamar Divens (Undrafted – No Compensation)
LB - Tavares Gooden (3rd)
LB - Jameel McClain (Undrafted – No Compensation)
S - Haruki Nakamura (6th)
RB - Jalen Parmele (Undrafted – No Compensation)
WR - Marcus Smith (3rd)
S - Tom Zbikowski (3rd)

Unrestricted Free Agents:
These players are free to choose what they want to do and where they want to go.

QB – Marc Bulger
LB – Prescott Burgess
CB – Chris Carr
OG – Chris Chester
OT – Jared Gaither
LS – Kevin Houser
WR – TJ Houshmandzadeh
P- Sam Koch
S – Dawan Landry
FB – Le’Ron McClain
OT – Tony Moll
DT – Haloti Ngata
WR Donte Stallworth
CB – Fabian Washington
CB – Josh Wilson
OG – Marshall Yanda

*Highlighted players of importance from my personal opinion.

The Ravens also have 7 Practice Squad players who are free to sign anywhere at this point:

OT – Brady Bond
QB – Hunter Cantwell
CB – Danny Gorrer
WR – Justin Harper
LB – Albert McClellan
OL – Andre Ramsey
RB – Curtis Steele

Now that we have that taken care of, the Ravens have a total of $94 Million dollars invested in the signed players. The link I provided says the cap for 2009 was $136 million. (I've seen on various other sites that it was around $128 million.) For the heck of it, we can use $136 mil for predicted annual increases.

Now what I think we need to do to keep Ngata and other key players is to cut or trade McGahee (love the guy but gotta do it.), cut or resign Gregg, cut or resign JJ. That would open up hopefully around another $12 million.

If you guys had a chance to be the FO what would you guys do?

And for you guys who want to sign Asomugha, lets see your theories on how we make enough space for him while keeping key players on the team.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading. :)

Latest Update: Resigned Billy Cundiff!

Depending on the CBA. It certainly looks like McGahee and Gregg will be cap casualties. But the team is going to have to rely upon guys like Kelly Tavalou more.

Jarrett Johnson is making a pretty penny as well.

Curtis Steele will be signed to the active roster in lieu of McGahee and McClain's departures. The Ravens will reserve the rights of Kindle and Cox.

I thought Foxworth was a FA this year as well?
I am not on the Asomugha bandwagon. It is not that I don't think he is a good player. I just think with Carr, Foxworth, Webb and Wilson we'd be pretty solid. I think there are more important needs we need to conserve our money for (anticipating a cap year).

OT – Brady Bond
QB – Hunter Cantwell
CB – Danny Gorrer
WR – Justin Harper
LB – Albert McClellan
OL – Andre Ramsey
RB – Curtis Steele

Of these I'd like to see them keep Steele. I believe Cantwell was on the PS? If Bulger departs for a starting job we could bring him up. Most likely though we'd try to get a veteran in.

QB – Marc Bulger (most likely will leave for a starting job)
LB – Prescott Burgess (on the fence here, didn't show us much)
CB – Chris Carr (sign this guy!)
OG – Chris Chester (think it is time to cut these ties)
PK – Billy Cundiff (sign this guy!)
OT – Jared Gaither (mysterious back ailment, injury prone, if no better option is available, short term sign.)
LS – Kevin Houser (?)
WR – TJ Houshmandzadeh (for the right price, I'd like to see Housh back)
P- Sam Koch (sign this guy!)
S – Dawan Landry (seen so many missed tackles. sometimes it seems like he's not even trying out there. If no better option out there, short term/low money)
RB – Le’Ron McClain (would like to see him back but in reality, probably will go elsewhere for better opportunities)Oh he's a FB btw
OT – Tony Moll (?)
DT – Haloti Ngata(priority #1)
WR Donte Stallworth (would like to see him back if the price is right)
CB – Fabian Washington (wave bye)
CB – Josh Wilson (would like to see him back)
OG – Marshall Yanda (sign this guy)

OL - Oniel Cousins (3rd)
DT - Lamar Divens (Undrafted – No Compensation)
LB - Tavares Gooden (3rd)
LB - Jameel McClain (Undrafted – No Compensation)
S - Haruki Nakamura (6th)
RB - Jalen Parmele (Undrafted – No Compensation)
WR - Marcus Smith (3rd)
S - Tom Zbikowski (3rd)

Smith, Zbikowski, Parmele. Cousins,Nakamura I'm on the fence.

Ah totally skipped the first group.

Cox, Kindle, Talavou, Williams if possible.

I remember being impressed by WR Justin Harper at training camp.
He just always seemed to have costly drops. But then again, all of our receivers did in that last game.

I thought they signed Foxworth to a 4 year deal meaning he has 2 years left.

Fixed the RB to FB, but Im on the fence with LeRon. If we part ways with McGahee, I would like to see him return as a RB and we draft or pick up a traditional blocking FB. If he goes then I would be content with picking up a traditional blocking FB and if we cant nab a low costing RB, I would be content having an open competition between Steele, Lawrence, Parmele, or whoever.

Your right. Foxworth isn't a FA until 2013. Hopefully he can perform when he comes back. We have a lot of money tied up in him in the remaining two years.

You could be right about Foxworth. I thought I'd read in a post somewhere that he was a FA this year.

That would work for me as well. We definitely need a solid RB. Rice is multi-talented but does not punish defenses and tire them out like McClain/McGahee. Need to keep that tandem thing going on to keep fresh legs on Rice as well.

I disagree on the QB move. We need a vet with experience in there IMO. If Flacco goes down with an injury in the thick of the playoffs, do you want to have to throw a rookie into the fire? Not me. Give me a vet.

"Throw a rookie into the fire" Yeah that has never happened here before! LMAO

Had to go there. But in reality it would be idiotic for this team to not have a vet behind Joe. I don't know how many times you can roll the rookie dice and come out like we have with an exception like Joe. The kid is solid and seems to play to a high level every season with or without injury, but you should always have some good insurance especially for that spot on the field.

I hope they can get Bulger back for the right price, but I seriously doubt with all the teams out there that need that starting vet with great experience (Bulger) once those money figures start getting thrown his way, it's going to be Bulger on that first plane out of B-more quick fast and in a hurry.

It's hard to think about this amount of money, in fact I'd like to go to bed and wake up with all of it.
I agree with CapoRocky, with the possible exception of Bulger. We do need a veteran QB to back up and teach Flacco, since he hasn't it in the NFL yet, while it is also important to consider a new young QB in case Flacco doesn't pan out.

Other than that I'm going to have to go down the list...

Willis McGahee ($6M) - I love Willis, but getting as few carries as possible, and Rice is making about 5.5 mil less, it doesn't make sense. If Willis can take a pay cut and remain a Raven, that would be great. But who wouldn't want to have a few carries and make $6M?

Derrick Mason ($4.5M) - I also love Mase, but that is a lot of money, and Housh could sign for less, and most likely have the same kind of production, besides, Mason almost retired last season.
I wouldn't mind seeing Mase back, and I bet he wouldn't mind coming back for his 4.5M.

Davon Drew ($405K) - Probably sent back to PS.

Matt Birk ($3M) - Should probably retire for his own sake.
He's up there in age and injuries.
If he wants to live a good life I think he should just retire.
3M might be hard to pass up, and he was great in his day, but it's not happening for him anymore.

Kelly Gregg ($3.5M) - Same idea, too old and injured. That's a lot to pass up, but I don't think he can do it anymore.
Let's see Cody more.

Domonique Foxworth ($4.4M) - We'll have to wait and see, but I'm not so sure he's worth that much.
I wonder how much Webb will be worth...

We have to remember that we'll sign Ngata to at least 70-75M, possibly a lot more, which will fill in the cap fairly well.
Soon enough we'll have to sign Rice and Flacco given how they do this season.

I think we should try to keep Housh, let Mason retire, if he doesn't, we can't keep both.
McClain doesn't seem to want to come back in this offense, which sucks, but if that's the case we'll have to let him go.

I don't know how the organization figures this all out, plus the draft and getting FA's, it's crazy, but at least we've had an organization that has done well at this, and hopefully will continue to do so.

Even as I typed it, I had this thought lol

Still, it is rare to get lucky with rookie talent and my thought was more that we would be throwing one into a big game if Flacco went down with an injury.

I agree exactly with this list. People who will be under contract but I think might not be back are:

Kelly Gregg - We saw definite decline for the most part this year, he has a sizable paycheck for next season and we have plenty of capable players at the position for the future.

Willis McGahee - We didn't use him much, which was a mistake, but I think he is cut (not traded, not enough value for his contract) and the team re-signs McClain instead. They use McClain as the change of pace back to keep him happier.

Derrick Mason - We know he might be retiring, so I don't know what he will do. I like the guy, but he was frustrated with the offense this year, and I think it unlikely he'll be much encouraged to come back again.

Domonique Foxworth - This is purely theoretical, but if the team did take a shot at Asomugha, Foxy would take the bullet. He's on a big wage and this season just passed proved that we could just about get by with Wilson, Webb, Carr. Putting Nnamdi at the top of that list would be ridiculous.

Players that need their contracts restructured or let go:
Foxworth
Gregg
McGahee

Derrick Mason is tricky. I want to go completely young behind Boldin but we don't know if he's retiring. I think we need to start building for the future at WR. Add a couple pieces and rebuild that position

Don't think they should bring Housh back. Landry is replaceable.

Last year of it. He'll be a free agent in 2012. But it doesn't really matter, the worlds going to end anyways. John Cusack told me so.

No one talks about this guy, but i think the most important guy to get back (other than Ngata) is Josh Wilson. He was an interesting guy to watch in the draft, he wasn't going to be a 1st round pick and people knew he would be a project. But he showed a lot of promise on the Hawks, with time he could definitely be a starter. But the hawks lost the investment they made when they traded him in the final year where he could've shown them whether he was worth the pick or not. On the Ravens he played 9 games had like 15 passes defensed. Even without the stats we saw something from him that we haven't seen since the c-mac days. A physical presence at CB, not just a track star. Despite his size he could play physically against bigger corners and make solid hits. He also had 3 picks and and a td. Hes not shutdown corner but we finally got a legit #1 CB. We also traded a draft pick for him, at a just 25 years old his best is yet to come. It would be awful if we let this guy go.

Well, I'm hoping we can resign Ngata, Koch and Cundiff. Josh Wilson and Carr would be nice to keep as well, but if we are able to sign Nnamdi then we can let one of them go I suppose.

I think we ought to give Gaither a shot as well if he's deemed healthy enough to play in 2011 and beyond.

for the ERFA I would keep Morgan Cox, Dannell Ellerbe, Sergio Kindle and Kelly Talavou

for the RFA I would keep Haruki and Zbikowski.

If the CBA is done before the draft and includes a rookie salary cap then I would think that would free up some cap space usually spent on rookies.

Yeah, Josh Wilson is the man. If I remember correctly didnt we trade a conditional pick for him depending on how much he played?

Anyone know what it turned out to be?

I believe it was a conditional 5th rounder in which could turn into a 4th. I think it did turn into a 4th. Either way, it was worth it. Giving up a 4th at worst for a starter is great value.

I would look for the Defensive tackle and kicker to be signed first. Then there is significant amount of chemistry with the 2 Safeties we start so I would sign the strong safety. Then later we start working on the offensive side of the ball...

Look for Leron McClain to be wearing the silver and black uniform next season. First his cousin is Raiders mLb Rolando McClain and second he seems to like Hue Jackson. Raiders have a serious weapon at FB Marcel reece but he isn't the blocker that McClain is and probably not as good pass blocking as McClain. He will be a nice addition to the second best rushing attack.

Maybe, I dont think he is fast enough for Al's liking.

All puns aside, I dont think he would commit there because he is looking for a more traditional RB role. He doesn't want to be a full time FB. You might be on to something with his cousin and Saunders though, I wasn't aware of those factoids.

Again Raiders have a dangerous weapon at FB in Marcel reece(look up his numbers) Raiders would use Leron MCClain at FB (blocking run downs) and as a RB( probably replace Michael Bennett) . Also he would add alot to their offense. Just say the Raiders version of wildcat. You have D MCfadden, M bush and McClain etc. Also you can move a Marcel reece or a darren Mcfadden outside before the snap and pound a defense with McClain.
