How Do You Cope With The Loss And End Of The Season?

24 posts in this topic

How are you guys handling the greatly dissapointing loss and the end of a good season? This loss has been incredibly hard on me and I'm still haunted by it nearly a week later and that will probably last for a while. It just doesn't seem fair to me. After all the aganizing defeats we've suffered at the hands of the steelers I thought we as fans deserved to win this ONE. After 2 quarters it looked like FINALLY it was our turn and then to see us self destruct like we did was just a horrible thing to see. Anyways, it's all over now and I avoided this site and any sports website for a few days and still haven't watched sportscenter since. I usually just watch MLB Network now. I can't handle all of the news about the upcoming games when I know it should be us preparing for a HOME GAME with the Jets for the AFC Championship. I already miss my Ravens. It's gonna be a LOOONG offseason. I guess I'll have to resort to watching college bball and then hopefully the Orioles can put together an exciting season. I just want it to be September. How are you dealing with it?

There really is no way to stop the pain.

Time is the only thing that lowers it for me.

I think this loss will stick with me until after the SB.

I usually shift my attention to the draft and it helps, but this year its kind of hard.

I don't watch or read anything about football unless it specifically centers around the Ravens.

I wore black the whole week...topped off with my Black ravens cap with the team logo emblazoned on it...not
because I'm in "mourning"...but because I want the rest of the footbal fans around me (especially the steeler fans!)
to know I'm all Raven...all the time.

The owner Mr. Bisciotti probably said it best..."I'm proud of the succes; I'm frustrated with the loss."

...(and rooting for the Jets to crush the steelers helps a lot..)

I feel the same way you all do..........this one was tough to take. I too thought this was the year we were going to finally beat those guys in the Playoffs, and we had them right where we wanted them! I was so fired up in the first half, screaming and yelling, acting like one of them out there.........but then the second half came and I was sitting there depressed.

It's weird though, even though the season is over.........I still find myself online everyday looking for Ravens news and articles to read because I still want to follow everything that is going on. I am still so into the team and everything even though it's over. I am still searching for Ravens gear online and in stores, it's just not as fun to wear it now of course. In fact, tommorow I am going to my local mall because this little sports store had a Ravens Hoodie that I saw a few weeks ago but did not buy. It has been on my mind since then and I still want it.

It is also especially hard because when it ends like this, now I have to start worrying about who we might lose and who might not be back. I hate this......I love this team and this group and I want them all to come back!

Well the loss is nothing compared to what early Saturday brought--my mom's funeral.

Other then the fact I scared the bejesus out of my family that has never watched football with me and my brothers best friend--not for the faint of heart lol

I know so many people are disappointed, but no matter what I think this team is great. The Ravens belong to and are part of Baltimore. Its so fine to have such a great bunch of guys to help remind us of how much we have to be proud of as citizens. It is so amazing to watch the teachers and students every Friday wear their Purple. Then you go the the grocery store, post office, gas station, and everyone is wearing their Purple. Never forget, never let anyone else forget; Fear the Birds, whether winter, summer, spring or fall. The last three seasons have been awesome and there is more to come.

Alright fine. I'll skip the sarcastic inappropriate remark (that got deleted).

The way I cope with a loss is vent for about 1 hour. This means taking off all my Ravens gear in an aggressive fashion, swearing off the team, freaking out about all the other teams still in it, just let out all that anger.

Then I take a deep breath. Realize that this thing is only a game. Something that I choose to participate in and spend money on. Then I get on the optimistic bandwagon.

Football is too much obsession. Now perhaps I can get some work done.

No, no. Nothing against you. I said something immature as to what I do to cope with the loss. Much like Sizzle said (which his post got deleted as well). Just trying some tasteless humor.

It is really sad.
I am still wearing my purple on Friday - can't help myself.
It's something we wanted to have so, so bad. Kinda like breaking up with someone.
Now we have to sit and watch other teams.
I will be rooting for either NFC team to win the Super Bowl.
Until next year!

I cheer when a team loses, and I boo when the other team wins.

I don't like any team not named the Baltimore Ravens, so I have no need to cheer any of them on.

If I see a team I can't stand, I flip them the bird. (Childish I know.)

I'm lucky if I even watch a full quarter of the game because the teams bring absolute no interest to me.

Thank God for College Basketball & Bud Light.

To deal with the ugly loss in the playoffs, I bought The Punisher with Dolph Lundgren(hadn't seen it since I was like 10), bought new hiking shoes because my old ones were done anyway and I bought a collector's edition of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that includes all 4 movies, a comic, character cards, a signed drawing and a beanie hat. I've been a TMNT fan since I was a kid. This loss was the hardest to cope with.
