Gaither Update?

22 posts in this topic

It seems alot of people are talking about getting him back, personally myself too, but I haven't seen any update on the guy yet. Is he up for a deal or not?

Since beginning of last season, the guy is disappeared as if he was kidnapped or something. If anyone has update on the guy, post here, so we all can know either he's coming back or we need to draft or coach the next LT.

Well Harewood started working out recently, so he should be good to go for next year (barring a second injury). We might need him to fill in Gaither's shoes the spot. Here's hoping he can end this mysterious and unreliable Gaither talk.

Ramon Harewood: 6'6 340bls. It will take time for him to excel at LT. I think he's abit short though....

A player can still be effective at that height, especially if his arms are long.

Not really, Dbrick is 6'6, I think Orlando Pace was too, Joe Thomas is 6'6, Matt Light is only 6'4 etc. Height isnt a necessity, arm long is far more important IMO.

Yes we do. He has 35 3/8-inch arms. Here's a list of the arm lengths of NFL tackles from last year.

Could really use Gaither back, 3 sacks allowed all year? Oher did that in 1 game
[/quote]

Yep. I was looking back and this is what The Fifth Down had to say about Gaither on their top 10 LTs list(he was #4).

The largest and perhaps most talented lineman in the game. Hard to believe there are whispers about his work ethic.

I think we all forget how talented he really is. He was an elite blindside protector in his 2nd(?) year starting, and he had yet to hit his ceiling. Maybe this year's debacle with him is a blessing in disguise if we sign him to a cheaper contract and get elite left tackle play out of him. Of course, there is huge risk involved as well. I have faith that Ozzie will make the right decision.

Agreed Harb. needs to realize Oher is better on the right side, and Gaither is a natural LT. I dont know why they were even planning on putting him on the Right side before he got hurt, were they planning on running it the right side, i dont know.
If the Big G does come back and i hope he does, he needs to be on the Left side, theres no if ands or buts about it. Hes the best player we have to mimic J.O.
I like Oher but we all know on his rookie yr as a right Tackle he went to the Pro bowl and deserved it, he needs to stay there. Maybe Harb. has been watching Too much of the Blind Side and is scared Sandra Bullock will come out from the stands and yell at him for not playing LT.
