RE: Window of opportunity

Bisciotti: "I've read some of the comments ... We think Joe [Flacco] has the ability to be one of the top quarterbacks in the league. We've got to do what we can do to help him get there. It's fluid, it's ongoing, it's constant. His star is riding. You can parce stats to make any point that you want ... We have three elite QBs in this league, and everybody knows who they are. ... Is Joe ever gonna be in that conversation? We hope so. ... We're not cutting bait with Joe, we have high hopes for him."

Nice joke about killing off Peyton Manning to accelerate that process  (couldn't get the whole thing).

RE: Steelers being called the gold standard
Bisciotti: "Y'know, we're close. We're close. They are, what you all said they are. They are the gold standard. We're trying to be there. We're close. They don't take us lightly. So, we've got their attention. They make the extra play; that's what championship teams do. We're not there yet. They have the confidence. Does confidence beget success? Yeah, it does. ... We've gotta get there, we've gotta be more confident."

It appears that team president Dick Cass is joining the conversation for the first time in a couple of years. Should be interesting; usually, it's a three-man presser.
Off-Topic: I was in the elevator with Dick Cass at the Bank. We talked about the weather. Go figure.

RE: Offensive problems
Harbaugh: "We need to run the ball better ... That opens up more possibilities in the passing game, play-calling... If I was gonna say one thing, that would be the #1 thing we need to focus on, going forward."

Yep. Because they could if they really wanted to. Sometimes I wish we were like other teams and could always pick up tickets on the cheap.
I agree, they definitely could... and even if some PSL holders refused to renew, there would be no shortage of people who would pay. But still, with the economy... classy PR move.

#1 thing you should work on is the O-Line. If you build it, the run game will come.

Ozzie Newsome: "We can get better players."

Can't wait to find out who they are. Offseasons are so exciting.

Harbaugh is getting a new contract soon, so I doubt that. Hope I'm wrong. Because if Harbs brings Cam back and can't get him to make this offense a little more productive and creative then he shouldn't be back. That was his promise so he better keep it now. I'll deal with Cam another season if we're gonna cut them both loose if they can't get the job done.

RE: CBA factoring into roster moves

Ozzie: "I know John said this going back into the last Owners' Meeting in March, Haloti is a priority. That's not just John saying it, that's Steve saying it, that's Dick saying it. ... It could create some problems getting a deal done before work stoppage, but I don't think, other than preparing for the draft, there's anything that has more importance than me than getting a player like Haloti under contract."

He mentioned that players that perform well, get the opportunity to play in Baltimore for a long time. (Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, etc.)

Wouldn't be surprised if it is just a two-year deal. But we'll find out.

RE: Uncertainty of offseason

Ozzie: "The #1 thing, and I think John spoke about it in his press conference...this is the first time where, if there is a work stoppage, the draft could happen before free agency. ... A lot of people have wanted [the draft before free agency] to happen for a long time."

Ozzie basically said that resigning Haloti is one of his top priorities.

(Sorry...didn't get the exact words).

That is a great attribute this franchise has. Other teams always seem to part ways with their top talent eventually. The Ravens ensure that these type of players are taken care of. Not many teams can say that.

RE: Character, personal conduct, etc. (Andy Moeller's arrests, etc.)

Bisciotti: "Yes, we're very concerned [about Moeller]. All we can do at this stage is see how Andy responds to this. He's taking the right steps. Obviously, it's a very personal issue. I don't think there's anybody in this room that hasn't been affected by alcohol. That's not a character trait, that's a disease. ... As long as he does what he's expected to do, he has our support, the caveat being that it's his last chance. ... He's gonna get it under control or he's gonna spend a lifetime of misery, being affected by that. ... He knows he's one step away from not being a Raven, then probably not being in the NFL at all."

Harbaugh: "Cam and I have had extensive meetings. ... Where it starts, Mike, is you listen. ... It's amazing the amount of information and input you get from guys when you ask. We'll go to the Senior Bowl this week (?), and then we'll meet on Monday. ... We've gotta go back and take a look at what we do and how we do it, and how we tie our players into it. ... See if we're all on the same page. ... It's the first time I'll be involved on the offensive side on the get-go, and I'll be very excited about that."

Interesting to hear Harbaugh say he'll more involved with the offensive game-planning for the first time going into next season.

How is it a bad sign? And how exactly do we know he likes him as a person?
If he (Cam) fails, it makes me think that John would have second thoughts before he made the decision to part ways. I think we've heard that Cam is a Harbaugh family friend? If not, forget everything I've said lol.

RE: Labor problems
Bisciotti: "It doesn't do any good to be a pessimist. ... We've got some work to do, there's no doubt about it. I am very limited in what I can say. I wanna keep my money. [joking]. ... I know how intelligent and committed our group that's representing our side, I know how intelligent they are. ... I just have to have hope that a bunch of intelligent people on both sides of the argument will get it done. ... I have high hopes that we'll have a full season next year."

Very telling. And what a head coach should be doing. Harbs is a smart guy, let Cam hear someone else's input for a change.

Actually, the way he said it, it's the first time he'll be involved immediately, rather than involved after the fact.
