I'll stand by my opinion. But I really do like Bale. He was the right guy for his universe. Affleck in a series of more realistic movies wouldn't have super villains, cause he'd kill em all easily.  His version of batman wouldn't fare well in this one.

I prefer bale bale as an actor overall fwiw. Affleck is a much better director than actor

I do agree Afflecks batman was better,  loved how brutal how he was.   But your right,  they were different styles so bales batman wouldn't have worked in this last one.

Keaton would work in both(if they gave him a better fight choreographer lol). He's smart enough and calculative enough to pull off both an emotional Bruce Wayne and a badass Batman. Affleck pulls off a badass Batman better than pretty much anyone could in addition to being hyper intelligent. He's a gorilla in battle lol.

Bale needed to carry more emotional weight. Which is kind of what he does best anyway as an actor so it works out.

Thats more a thing of Bulk vs. Lean Muscle(fwiw. Bulk turns into fat. I'd prefer lean muscle). Bale's batman was still jacked, Batfleck had to have taken steroids or something. Again, a universe thing. In the comics batman is a peak level human, meaning he was as strong and fast as a human being possibly could be. Batfleck was clearly this, rewatching the warehouse fight. He was one shotting dudes and was taking on as many as four people on at a time(which is helped by his advanced martial arts skills that Bale doesn't posses). Bale's batman is a lot slower, and while he's ripped he isn't peak human. Batfleck is. They were going for a comic accurate interpretation of Batman(at least in combat. Snyder's stupidity messed up his overall morals). So I don't mind.

See that right there is why it's terribly difficult comparing Batmans.

I watched Suicide Squad last night and Batman convo came up after. Bale did suit the more modern Batman universe in his films and I think that's part of the reason I didn't like Bale in BvS is because I was putting him in Bales films which simply doesn't fit. Last night when Batman came swopping down on Deadshot I must admit I thought that same shot with Bales Bat wouldn't have worked. So a lot is to be said for the environment these Batmen are playing in.

Watching Killing Joke tonight mind.

In regards to Suicide Squad, truly don't understand the hate. A visual treat and the soundtrack arguably one of the best in years for any film comic or not. Just the right dose of humour, generally a very good movie that certainly doesn't deserve the horrendous ratings it is currently receieving. Are people just writing bad reviews becuase that's the 'cool' thing to do?

Thank you.  Might check it out.

You have to. It's easily been the best movie of the summer, though that's not saying much. But this is a movie that's straight FUN. The plot is as simple as they come, but holy crap it's FUN.

Will do.  Didn't like the original direction of the trailers, but haven't heard anything bad about it.

The marketing team should be fired cause I hated them too. I went in with very low expectations(I Was in town, and my dad is a Trekkie so I went to watch the movie with him).

Why cant those actors from that Trek movie do a new Star Trek TV series?

1. Chekov is dead. You can't really have Star Trek without Chekov

2. Chris Pine has become a good head listing actor. He'd want too much money alone. Zoe Saldana has built her name, Zachary Quinto is a good actor, and Simon Pegg is too big of an actor in England to take a TV job here.

Someone can replace Chekov. Those actors can make good money if its done by HBO. So why not HBO pick up the trek series?

I'd be shocked if Simon Pegg was signed up to a TV show in the US not to mention the guy earns boat loads of money on stuff here in the UK, and he has a lot of commitments this end that he just wouldn't give up.

Watching Suicide Squad tonight, will post thoughts. Really curious to see how this is after hearing so many different opinions. I'll try to look at this like a critic and like a fan.

Didn't have anything to eat at the theater as I ate before I went like a smart person.

As for the movie, went about how I expected which was mixed.

The entire first half of the movie is pretty much a giant exposition dump which makes sense with all the new characters but is not done as well as it could have.

The villain is also not good. I mean I don't expect a great villain in a movie where the members of the suicide squad should be the draw(kinda like how Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy don't have great villains and are pretty standard plots) but the dancing in front of the "machine" that will kill everyone was a bit off. Pretty forgettable.

Was a bit disappointed in the Joker, just wasn't feeling it in the scenes he was in.

I did like most of the suicide squad when onscreen though. Wasn't as big a fan of Killer Croc but maybe they can make him better. Harley Quinn is great as is Deadshot and the other members were done pretty well too. Well except Slipknot...

I also found the second half of the movie to be better than the first half and the bar scene where we got some character development was good. Was missing a lot of that and overall the movie felt pretty cluttered.

I also liked the struggle to deal with Waller and Flag which was pretty fun. Waller was being a bit careless with that phone at the end with her fingers over a couple of the members which was pretty funny(not in a good way)

As for Batman, well he is hardly in it except to capture Harley Quinn and Deadshot, don't expect much. You would think Batman and Wonder Woman would have noticed that there is a giant "machine" being built in the sky and would have shown up, especially considering it had been there for 3 days before the suicide squad showed up apparently. They had time to do a mass evacuation of the city, I think they could have at least showed up.

Wasn't a huge fan of the soundtrack either as they must have paid half their budget on royalties alone. I mean I like the songs but the first 3 scenes all had some song going for them and it got old fast.

Overall I think there are some big plot holes, the first half is a bit of a mess, the villain is weak, and they tried to put too much in a 2 hour 10 minute movie. With that said I did like the suicide squad itself, especially Deadshot and Harley Quinn, and the action in the second half was pretty good even though I wasn't a fan of the villain. It wasn't a total fail and there are flashes of a good movie in there but they are nothing more than flashes.
