I wouldn't say that's snobbish so much as it's "showing your age"

I'll have to check out the original.

There are several ways to answer that question actually. And location, time of day, day of the week and present company have a lot to do with the answer.

Since I'm only 26, it's more snobbery than anything. Since I hadn't been born when the original was released.

Thumbs up: The next three days (Russel Crowe), Takers (Idris Elba, Chris Brown, Clifford Joseph Harris JR aka T.I. and Hayden Christensen)

Thumbs down: The Green Hornet

Really, Takers is an awesome movie, it's worth seeing.

The next three days is a real thinker, not Inception thinking though, but it's a good movie.

The Green Hornet.... Well, it sucks.

"The Crazies" was horrible. The dude from Hitman (can't remember his name, Olyphant), should not be the main actor in any movie.

I just saw "Just Go With It". Brooklyn Decker and Adam Sandler delivered, the rest of the movie, not so much.

Watched a little known film from 2003 called Saints and Soldiers. Not exciting or action packed and made on a low budget. But if you're a history buff like myself, then I would recommend it.

Saints and Soldiers is a really really good Indy movie I thought. Its very low budget but I think the script is outstanding, it was produced by the Mormon Church so theres a Christian role in the movie itself but nothing particularly Mormon about it. The sounds to the movie are identical to the big budget WW2 flicks I thought, and they got some German Half tracks and US Army Jeeps/trucks and a P-51 Mustang for the final shot which was a good touch.

Its definitely worth seeing IMO, it plays more on the characters than huge battle scenes but theres a pretty extensive skirmish at the end of the movie.

Ryan23945, I can't agree more with you about the hero movies. If I wanna see a good zero to hero movie, I'll watch the Mask with Jim Carrey. And yeah Thor looks bad. I'm looking forward to Captain America since "American" is one of my favorite adjectives to use for things I like a lot.

The Eagle SPOILER ALERT

The movie "The Eagle" was pretty horrid. It was 2nd in warrior movie letdowns(Alexander with Colin Ferrell being the worst) It started out great, but it just slowed down. And there were a few parts I thought the two characters were going to start kissing each other. My girlfriend and I were close to leaving. And the end line lead you to believe they might actually think about a sequel, but I really doubt it. I just think it was a bad exit line to try and make them look hardcore. Don't get me wrong, the acting was great, but I thought it was going to be a lot more like 300.

I think you have to go into The Eagle/Centurion with background information on the movies so you don't get a grandiose vision in your head like its going to be like Gladiator. The Eagle is based on a British novel written in the 1950s and tried to stay somewhat true to the novel. The Eagle was also produced for only 15 million dollars. Neither movie had a budget over 15 to my knowledge. I think Fassbender is a pretty good actor himself and if you switch out Tatum and Fassbender from Centurion to The Eagle I think The Eagle would have had a stronger acting presence. But being somewhat of an amateur Roman military historian the historical accuracy to The Eagle in the first half hour when Tatum is at his outpost was pretty impressive imo. Roman forts were designed exactly like that, ramparts, a huge ditch all the way around, sentry towers in the corners, legionnaires practiced for hours on their swordsmanship on wooden stakes constantly practicing thrusting and slicing. Then you see the Testudo infantry formation and the Orbis when Tatum leads his cohort to get the prisoners. Gladiators opening scene shows a massive battle scene but you really don't get an impression of the hardy discipline the legions fought with, it just ends up with two lines running into each other.

The Eagle isn't a great movie by any means, but for 15 mil I thought it was decent...but maybe thats just the historian in me.

Yeah the beginning of The Eagle was the best part, but I just couldn't deal with the rest(except for the scenery which was nice). I'm going to see Unknown later today with my Dad. After Taken, I'll see anything with Liam Neeson. He was also good in Kingdom of Heaven and not bad in Batman Begins. And as much as Owen Wilson's nose irritates me, I gotta see Hall Pass.

I'll keep saying this, Punch Drunk Love is the best movie Adam Sandler ever made.

Punch Drunk Love is an excellent movie. In terms of best movies in general, Punch Drunk Love is Adam's best.

But in terms of the Adam Sandler genre, Happy Gilmore takes the case. "The Price is Wrong, B..."

I just saw Unknown today. I wouldn't say it's like the one critic said(Taken meets Bourne Identity) I will Say it has a lot of twists and Liam Neeson again delivers. I'm going to have to see it again though, because we had 3 idiotic teenagers in front of us who wouldn't stop talking and a man with a low IQ who also wouldn't shut up behind us. I think I'll go in the middle of the day on a week day next time I see it. But it is worth seeing.

I've never seen The Net, but it's not Taken meets The Bourne Identity. I'd say it's The Bourne Identity meets The Departed because it has a lot of twists.

I just watched an older movie 'Just Cause' (available on Netflix IW). Stars Sean Connery and Laurence Fishburne. I thought it was going to be one of those racial tension flicks. But it really duped me in the end. Not a bad flick.

Ed Harris plays an amazing bad guy (Locked up psycho killer).

Taking a film class this semester, so far we've watched...

City Lights by Charlie Chaplin - silent film, laughed a little and then fell asleep

Casablanca - unmoved by romanticism, would've flown away with the girl

On The Waterfront - "I could'a been a contender!", pretty good movie with pigeons

Psycho - best out of the four, a genuinely creepy plot with the whole mother/son insane relationship

/expert film analysis

Next up is Bonnie and Clyde

I wouldn't say The Crazies was horrible, me and my girl enjoyed it. And how dare you, sir, how dare you bad mouth Timothy Olyphant. Go watch "Justified" on FX and eat your words. =P

I really liked "Just Go With It" actually, but I'm a huge Sandler fan. Is it weird that I enjoyed see the lovely Miss Aniston in a bikini more so than Brooklyn Decker?

That's why he is the main actor in a TV series :)

No, it is not weird. Aniston is quite the beauty, that smile is amazing. You can't go wrong if you have her and Decker jumping in and out of hidden Hawaiin water in bikini's lol

I couldn't help but bust out laughing when Norman Bates came out of nowhere, dressed like his mother and cackling. It wasn't supposed to be funny, but it's so cheesy today, tears were coming out of my eyes from laughing so hard. My professor shot me a look but then couldn't help cracking up himself. I had the whole class rolling and we went back to that scene and watched it twice more for laughs. :P

HA, I know exactly what you're talking about. The over-the-top music and the drawn out knife sequence add to the humor, too
