yea.. The mascot thingy is over unless someones tries to bring it up again. But what we were sayin before is how can you be a Raven fan and despise Ray Lewis?

If I was a hardcore Raven's fan first and foremost...you know Colts fan from the beginning and all that jazz...then I wouldn't stop being a fan because of Ray Lewis even though I don't like his antics. And thats the case with the Ravens fans that I know of that agree with me. They don't like Ray's antics but they aren't going to stop being fans.

In my case I was a fan before I moved to Baltimore and before Ray Lewis really began his antics. And I wasn't a huge fan, I was just happy to have an AFC team in MD to root for. I'd watch the games after the Redskins games were over. So, for me it was easier to say, "I'll give 'em another chance when Ray isn't there anymore."

and what antics are you speaking of? the murders that he never committed?? or could you be talking about his desire to win and make every player around him a better player and better man? or could it be the thousands of dollars he donates to charity each and every day, week, and year?

Heres the way I kinda think about it. If you dont like the main player on its side of the ball. That has done a lot for the team. "I hate the players on the team but I like the team." How can you do that?" thats like doing it with a girl to get your virginity back. Cuz theres no way you can get your virginity back after or when your doing it.

I'm not trying to denegrate Ray Lewis as a player or person. I just don't like him.

As for what I mean when I refer to his antics, I'm not talking about the "murder rap." I don't beleive that he was guilty of that. My distaste for him has more to do with his leadership style. The screaming and yelling at his own teammates. See, I knew too many guys like that in the Army and that style of leadership doesn't do anything to build teamwork. I don't like that he has so much say in what goes on. I don't like that he has a direct line to Steve Bisciotti. I think that it undermines the coaches.

This is all just my feeling on the dude. He turns me off. It cools if you don't feel that way. I wouldn't expect you to.

but has his passion for the game and his encouragement he gives to his teammates ever get old?

I don't see it as encouragement. If I was on his team and he did that to me there would be an 85 person brawl as well.

Honestly, no! But the dance; yeah...that got old a long time ago. Again, that's me. ;)

Watching Ray dance before a game or get rowdy to pump His teammates up is WAAAY better then having to watch Clinton Portis run around in stupid costumes, Thats just my 2 cents.

Grand Weepers is entitled to his opinion. Its like being on a team and not liking or getting along with a teamate. You dont like that person, but you're still gonna go out there for your team in general. So GW can not like one player but still cheer on the team.

Does it get you that far if your on a team but dont like a person? Your either going to be traded to a different team or just end up quiting it later on.

Man , you're so right.

Also, grand weeper were U ever in the army? Because my dad was. ANd let me just say this. If the screaming and the Rah-Rah doesn't get you pumped, something's wrong with you. I get it all the time. "Clean the dishes Adam, Clean 'em NOW!!!! " Jk. But c'mon how else do you get someone pumped before a game, reading poetry?

okay Im sorry if I ever misused a word. Theres just no one a fan cannot hate a player from his favorite team unless the player has been doing bad stuff. Is screaming and yelling at your teammate fired up for a game? Yes it is depending on what the person is saying. If hes saying our team sucks then no... Thatll get your team nowhere. But if hes saying...

They aint ready for this.

What time is it?

This team cannot move the ball on us.

and other stuff thats motivational to the team and brings out the best of them then why not say it? Im glad Ray Lewis is on the Baltimore Ravens.

Im glad to have Ray on the Ravens too. He's one of my favorite players on the team and I love his passion for the game. But, some people, like GW, see it a different way, and its his opinion about one player. thats all im sayin. But that doesnt mean that he cant be a fan of the ravens.

I wouldn't consider that screaming at teammates, He comes up with motivational speeches for the game and and gets vocal to pump up the team. Tell u the truth when I hear some of his speeches I feel like jumping in the game and playing. And yes even though that ''what time is this'' ''gametime'' thing got old and that dance is goofy, Ray Lewis is the best defensive player our franchise has ever witnessed. Because of ''that fire'' that burns inside him, the will and his determination to get just 1 more world title. (he also watches the movie ''Gladiator''to get pumped up before some games. That movie definitly pumps me up!

OK I was with you until you said the chant was goofy. The chant is not goofy. The chant is gold. When I hear that It's before I do play. My teammates have adopted that chanting tradition and it gets us seriously pumped. Seriously pumped. I'm talkin don't leave that feild until the other team is crying in the middle of the feild, PUMPED!

well I didn't say the chant was goofy, I said that it got a little old. It's just I wish he would come up with some variety, some new chants, and not use ''what time is this'' ''gametime'' every game you know, maybe just once in a while. Don't get me wrong I like it but just not every game. Anyway I dont dislike him in any scense, I hope he feels good enough to play at least 2 or 3 more seasons.

For starters, I like to say that everyone is entitled to thier opinion. GW, you are totally entitled to the way that you view a person, whether you like them or dislike is up to you... Thats just silly to say that there would be a 85 person brawl, cause that would imply that someone was fighting on your side. A soldier doesn't fight a respected general and stay a soldier much longer (Did you like that Army referance?)...

That said, i realy don't see how you can be a ravens fans and not like the heart and soul of the team. The face of the franchise. If you ask a non-football fan to name one Raven player, i can almost guarentee that if they can name someone then it would be Ray Lewis. Thats like liking the Packers and not liking Brett Favre, or liking the Colts and not liking Peyton Manning, or liking the Patriots and not liking Tom Brady, or liking the Orioles and not liking Cal Ripkin, etc. I could go on and on, but I think that you get my point. Ray Lewis is the Baltimore Ravens, if you dont like him then it is hard to believe that you really like the Ravens right now. Maybe you just like Maryland teams and you want to like the Ravens, but you are not a true fan of a team if you dislike the face of the franchise.

I personally like Ray Lewis's motivational tactics. Thats the way a defense is suppose to think. Riddle me this: How many star passive defense players are there?

If you can name one, then i would be impressed! Defense is about swagger and toughness. Ray Lewis is the perfect embodiment of everything that you want in a defensive leader. Heart and Smarts with a bunch of desire and attitude mixed in. Off the field, Ray is kind, given, and caring, but on the gridiron- in between those white lines, it is war! No prisoners, no mercy! Think you will score, quote the Raven: "Nevermore"

Btw, Congrats Poe on winning as a underdog. Thats Raven pride!

Didnt Ray win a SuperBowl with that type of leadership?
