Reports: Ray Lewis Linked To Banned Substance

77 posts in this topic

Whats odd is Ray was arguably at his least athletic ever in 2008 as he was 260 pounds. He lost 10 of those for the 09 season and has been visibly quicker.

Hasn't Ray added/lost weight multiple times over his career though?

I just have a hard time believing that Ray (and all the other athletes) would be so open about this if there was any wrongdoing.

I am very annoyed by the incorrect reports too. It is frustrating!

Take this for what it is worth before the 2008 season (just found it kind of funny). Watch at the 1:42 mark.

There must be a jinx that goes with being the Raiders HC. I cannot recall a Raiders HC in recent years who was not mixed up in some controversy.

The Ultimate spray contains the chemicals what the heck – !! and omg – n000, which when accidently combined, can have severe side effects. LOL

So Ray took (maybe) a substance to improve as a football player. Big deal, most NFL players take vitamins, performance pills and so on. I see no issue with Ray Lewis, one of the greatest LB in NFL History.

He was never as heavy as he was in 2008, and has never been close to be back at that weight. He plays now at 250, I have the Super Bowl run in 2000 on DVD and in multiple games the announcers state Ray is 250 pounds (at 6% body fat or something ridiculous lol). He looks huge with the shoulder pads he used to wear back in the day. But even now at 35 you can see he moves alot better laterally and straight line speed than he did in 2008, he was all downhill in 2008.

Honestly, even if Ray did take this, who cares. It's obvious from all the testimonials that he wasn't the ONLY one using it (allegedly) and I doubt it would surprise anyone if it was found to being used throughout the whole league. Not to mention that the spray doesn't actually contain HGH and the other "I" thing (forgot the other letters/numbers and don't really care lol).

I've been away from my computer and just watched the end of the season Ravens presser, heard the question, and researched the article about Ray, and others using this spray.

The article is convincing that is has been used by many athletes, yet, how do we know the truth.
It does name a strange mix of players, and some headlines provoke it being true because it highlights current NFL stars that will make it to the HOF, but are in the late stages of their career.

If this was used by Ray, I hope he used it without the idea of abusing it, or the rules.
I don't think ray ever needed anything to enhance his performance, especially with the way he talks/preaches and the way he works out and watches film/prepares. You don't use the spray and then go watch hours of film, and spend hours working out, not to mention the healthy diet he's spoken about eating.

If he did use this stuff thinking it would extend his career or that he was doing something risky, abusive or wrong, than it would be incredibly depressing, but I don't think ray would do that, and I hope not.

We'll have to wait and see.

When this first hit, I went and took a look at their site. I don't know what it looked like 2 years ago or whatever, but something struck me as odd. If these guys are selling a product that contains IGF-1 which is a substance banned by the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, PGA and NCAA among others; then why are there so many athletes from so many sports allowing themselves to be listed on the site as users and/or endorsers of the products?

That doesn't make sense. If you are knowingly using a substance banned by your sport, why would you allow your name to be used anywhere near that site?

The whole setup of the S.W.A.T.S. site is anti-cheating/anti-steroid/etc. This feels to me like a whole bunch of athletes from diverse sports (they got bull riders in there) not knowing what was truly in the product, buying into the marketing and/or listening to coaches they trusted. Just take a look at the list of sports personalities listed on that site.

I noticed this as well and had the same thought. Not to mention, while the article mentioned that it contained this banned substance, there has been nothing come out from the NFL. The only reason this made news was the NFL's policy about being involved in such a business or whatever (as the article stated it) and making Jackson cut ties. It really was not about this being a banned substance and players who used it.

Hue Jackson probably took that stuff to Oakland with him, which would explain Run DMC's sudden ability to play.

It doesn't really matter what he's allegedly done. If it didn't show up on the NFL's tests then there's no way they can prove he took the illegal substance and no way they can punish him.

We'll have to wait until all the information comes out before we jump to conclusions.
[/quote]

I agree with you, PuRock, until we get all of the facts, we will never know whether or not Ray Lewis ever used it. I don't believe he did, but that's just my belief.

The naivety here is staggering. I can guarantee Ray Lewis is using this banned substance because he knows it is untraceable using the current NFL testing standards. As is probably 40-50% of all the elite players. You think these guys don't know what they are doing? Come on guys get a clue. This is sports, not the boy scouts.

That being said, I don't care. If he wants to chew up ground deer antler to help him recover so be it, it's his body on the line every week, I think they've all earned to use what they want as long as they pass the NFL testing.
