[Blogs] Ravens Trust Flacco WILL Take Games Over

167 posts in this topic

Flacco needs another year under his belt, needs to learn not to throw passes into double coverage, and learn to get rid of that ball in certain situations... However...
If Joe's line had a bit better protection, He'd be able to go through his reads more effectively. (Not saying this is his sole reason for having inconsistent play there are many, look at Brady, Manning, Rodgers and Roethlisberger, all have mediocre to poor O-lines)
Additionally, if there was a receiver going long and breaking coverage on the DB's (Stallworth or Reed, anyone remember those names on our roster) he would be able to show off the big arm, and if there were more slant routes ran by Heap and Boldin where they belong, and crossing patterns with the greatest route runner to ever live, Mason, I think Flacco would have better numbers, and a more consistent offensive showing.
If there was an offensive coordinator that knew when to leave a max protect option in the play calling for safety or corner blitzes, we would have won at least one more game and had a first round bye in the playoffs.
Maybe what I'm trying to say is Flacco is as good of a quarterback as Baltimore ever could have hoped to have. Use his strengths. Use our receivers strengths where they belong. Mason Doesn't have to be running stop routes along the sidelines every single play, and Heap is big, tall, and can get vertical for a ball, but he isn't gonna burn anyone except a linebacker trying to get down the field!
I'm not a damned offensive play caller, I've never been a quarterback, and I only started watching football when we got the Ravens in Baltimore... So my experience is lacking. But c'mon man... even I can see we aren't using our teams strengths.
Finally, "You've got to play great defense" To win games? Obviously Harbs... But the field is 100 yards long, and if the quarterback can't take the team every inch of it consistently, then there is a problem... and I DON'T think its the DEFENSE...
Man, am I the only one reading between the lines and looking through the fluff? Blow smoke up someone else's behind.

Flacco will never develop into the qb that the Ravens fans would like just as no qb that has ever been under Cam Cameron has reached their potential until Cameron left. I decided to google fire cam cameron and I ran across facebook pages, web sites, etc... dating from his time in San Diego, Miami and now Baltimore. Lets face it, I don't care about his family ties to the Harbaugh family, Bisciotti needs to move this loser out before he totally destroys Joe and he is playing on some Arena league team in the midwest that no one has ever heard of. Perhaps that would be good for him cause them he could be allowed to develop like he will never be allowed to grow under Cameron. Lets face it, until Joe gets to change the plays at the line of scrimmage, just like Ben did on 3rd and 19 to beat the Ravens, we will settle for a so so team, just like Harbaugh was a part of in Philly and unfortunately Harbaugh has grown to accumstomed to mediocrity and just getting to the playoffs after his stint in Philly. If Harbaugh allows himself to be blinded by his own personal family feeling about Cameron then it is time to get rid of him too.

I am usually real hard on Flacco even when we win. I just hope that he proves me wrong. If he is allowed to call plays and audible at the line and still looks like he had a stroke(like in the Steelers game) then we should put in Bulger for a game or two then maybe he would step up. If he dont next year then we should maybe look some where else. I know he isnt a Brady or Manning but compared to our past Qb's(Boeller, Testaverde, Redman, etc.) he is way better. I just hope Cam is gone everyone can see that this guy is 100% GARBAGE. GO RAVENS!!!!!

Your a good employee/manager and you treat my employees well but when it comes down to closing deals your going to cost us. Now I'm "not" going to fire you, instead I'm going to put something in place that will have my company best interest in mind. I can't just think only of you and I will consider the power of my company and no one man will keep failing at the end and cost me my best investors. Will you reach your true potential before the superstars have no choice but to call it a day?

I think Flacco has what it takes. I really believe he needs better coaching, and a new offensive coordinator. Even Peyton Manning could look like crap if he had an offensive scheme that didn't work. Cameron continually called plays that would not allow the WR's to get open. He NEVER used Boldin's strengths across the middle.

Bmore_07 - He, in 3 years, holds all of the Ravens passing records. How long did Kyle Boller play for us? McNair? Testeverti? Flacco is the real deal or he wouldn't be putting up these numbers. We have had an actual passing attack the last 3 years, which we've NEVER had as a team. You're obviously not a true fan if you can't appreciate that aspect.

Joe Flacco is this franchise on offense. Anyone remember when Kyle Boller was our QB? thinking every seasoon if he could even help us win games. Joe Is above and beyond that. He is a proffesional in every sense of the word. I support him fully because hes proven in his first three years he can win and learn on the fly. He understands what it takes to be a very good quarterback. Some people forget that at the end of the day its about winning. And Joe knows how to do that. End of story.

Zorn has taken Flacco as far as he can. He simply has nothing left to offer him. Bulger was a good QB is STL he just didn't have a team around him to work with. Everybody had jumped ship to cash in on the SB bucks.

Somebody call Brett Favre and ask him if he's interested in building an elite QB and get him to coach Flacco. Keep Bulger as the backup. Fire Cameron (and Harbs too if he's not on board) and get somebody with the fire and desire to make this team spectacular.

If you're really interested in dominating the NFL....put the people in place necessary to make it happen. The Ravens are a great team. They've got the talent to become a dynasty. Get some coaching to help them get there.

I'm sick to death of being the butt of all the Squealer bandwagon insults year after year. Fix it!!!

@OrganizedChaos2052

Or he can change the game from us losing to us winning see week 4 @ Pittsburgh. I and I didn't no it was Flacco's fault that ray rice fumbled the ball on Saturday or that matt birk snapped the ball prematurely. Every quarterback even the elite ones have up and downs and guess what those elite quarterbacks, brady, manning, brees aren't in the playoffs anymore either. Funny how facts and objectivity can get in the way of one's argument.

Amazing that people are willing to put Joe as the source of our ills here. Last I checked, football was a TEAM sport. I'm actually surprised that the headline here has "WILL" all capped! Did we all forget what happened in KC 2 weeks ago? He TOOK THE GAME OVER!

Dude was brought in as a rookie, to study behind (professional) Bowler, and Smith. Started on Day One, and has gotten consistently better in each season. The path is concistently UP!

It's OK to be frustrated at our losses, but the blame game is weak, y'all. Joe's our man!

@raven410

You are aware that flacco threw for those exact stats this season (25 tds and 10 ints) and did improve in every aspect that you alluded to right?

So Flacco won 1 game. How about we talk about what matters; the playoffs, where he has the NFL's worst stats ever in the playoffs. EVER...

And he's shown no signs of improvement in the playoffs.

Mr. Bisciotti - please review the attached link, PLEASE! Even the analysts are calling Cam Cameron out personally! You have to know that he is the weak link in the chain. Please take care of this situation for your fans.

Joe can become a better quarterback, if Cam Cameron is fired, or if Cam Cameron stays and turns the offense over to Joe. Joe is great at running the no huddle because HE is calling the plays. I dont know why Cam Cameron doesn't realize that this offense is more succesful when Joe is running the offense.

Football is a team sport. No one is an individual. They all rely upon each other, especially in the NFL.

So who in the history of the league has worse stats in the playoffs than Flacco?

And how did he show any improvements? Sure, in KC game he didn't play bad, but KC is terrible. Then he got exposed (again) by the Steelers...

He can't take control of a game.

3 years in and still not totally sold on Flacco. He still has too many Boller moments. Cam Cameron has to go. you dont get a lead and then try and coast through the rest of the game.

What's confusing about what i'm saying? A coach don't make a player great, a coach utilizes what you can do. Flacco has to make hisself great. Coaches are easier to hire and fire than players are. You switch coaches mainly because you stuck with the player who cost more.

@BmoreRavens what aspects did he improve in? I see a guy at our QB poistion that played the same ball game as the guy who was here in his roookie season and went to the AFC championship game and lost to the steelers allowing the steelers to continue onward to a superbowl ring.

Joe Flacco is a avgerage QB in the NFL I just wish he could bring us out of key clutch 3rd downs and keep a drive alive when we need it the most... I see WR running wide open alot and he forces the ball into tight coverage. I was expecting a lot from Joe this past season, but he didn't show me all the goods. I will give Joe 1 more year to see what he is made of because he is now coming into his 4th season, no more talk of he hasn't had time to get experience. Aaron Rodgers was in his 3rd or 4th starting season as a QB this year and he is a elite QB in the NFL and Rodgers doesn't break down under the blitz or under the pressure of clutch plays. His name is "Joe Cool" I want to see him remain cool and throw a 1st down on a 3rd down when we need it the most.

Well, for starters, there are tons of quarterbacks who never even make the postseason. There are many quarterbacks who have performed worse than Flacco in the playoffs but I'll give you a recognizable one - Matt Ryan. Not only has Joe outperformed him, he's done it with an inferior offense.

Joe played an excellent game against Kansas City and didn't do that poorly against Pittsburgh. Maybe the loss has clouded your judgement but Flacco is not at fault for the fumbles by Birk and Rice, drops by Housh and Boldin, and the poor blocking of the offensive line.

We won, this year because of Joe Flacco. We had an ineffective running game and the burden of the offense was put on the passing game. We went 12-4 by his hand.

@berad

Football is a team sport so why not use the team, Bulger was on the team correct?
Who said he wasn't? Maybe not on the field but I'm sure his experience and knowledge was invaluable in team meetings and film study.

Rodgers is in his third year starting, now, but he's had six years in the NFL learning behind Brett Favre...
