I just hope Pagano doesnt try to go all Rex Ryan "overload blitz" king on us and end up like Shawn McDermott.

Why can't Cam be getting interest from his Alma Mater.

Too bad Indiana hired Kevin Wilson. Cam would've been a perfect fit. Hell we would've gave a great reference!
Cam was Head Coach at Indiana for five years with an 18-37 record so i do not think he is welcome back LOL

I Second this nomination. A lot of our DC's have come from within. Pagano would be a great choice.
I like Pagano and think that he is a great secondary coach, but he has never been a DC in the NFL. Wouldn't LB coach Dean Pees be a more likely candidate for DC? Below is part of his bio taken from the Ravens site.

"Dean Pees was named the team’s linebackers coach in January 2010. Pees came to Baltimore after a six-year stint with the New England Patriots, serving as defensive coordinator for the past four seasons (2006-09). During his tenure guiding the defense, the Patriots were the only NFL team to finish in the top 10 in scoring defense in four consecutive seasons. New England’s unit also allowed less than 20 points per game in every season under Pees’ guidance."

He also set their franchise record for points allowed in his 1st season as their DC. When he left the Pats their defense because one of the leagues worst. Despite initial reports, he was not fired nor did he step down from the Pats. He was offered a new contract as their DC and declined for personal reasons (i.e. Belichick is a D*ck).

Thoughts?

I looked at his bio and man has that guy held a lot of decent jobs. He wouldn't be a bad choice at all. He's even had HC expierence at some schools.

Pees is a possibility as he has experience, but everyone knows Belichick is his own DC.

yes lsu please take cam and yes michigan please take mattison. dont get me wrong mattison is good with HIS scheme but with the talent we have on d there is no way we shouldnt be number 1 total d every year we need someone who is aggressive like rex and knows how to get 100% out of our players mattison is good but to conservative for baltimore imo
You're in denial. The D isn't that talented. After Suggs, who is a really good pass rusher? Which of ILBs consistently makes plays all over the field? Which of the CBs is considered a top CB in the league?

The times everybody's favorite coach, Rex Ryan, fielded top defenses was when he had top players.

Being reported that Mattison is leaving. http://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora It's one of the top ones.

Wow this is big! Glad he made up his mind quick and leaves us with some good choices still, hope we make up our minds with Cam soon too. I don't think we could go wrong with Pagano or Pees. Good luck to Gregg, he did a pretty damn good job here for his short stay.

Pagano did wonders for this secondary and really got them to play as a group, hopefully he'll do the same with our defense as a whole.

What about Clarence Brooks? He could be a good replacement--if it happened.
It happened.
We don't know yet if Pagano will remain the DC, but he currently is since Mattison took the job at Michigan.

"duffstar Mike Duffy
Confirmed: #Ravens DC Greg Mattison is going to take the same position with U of Michigan."

Was he encouraged to leave? Does that mean Cam will be "encouraged" as well?

Eh, at this point I'm not really that upset. We can promote from within and there won't be any drop off. Now we just need the other coordinator to leave and we'll be set. Man, just think what our offense could be like if we had a legit offensive coordinator.

I think Cam will be gone by Friday, or Thursday since Harbs will be meeting with Ozzie and Bisciotti.

I'm not positive but I've heard that Mattison just wasn't comfortable coaching our team. I don't think he was fired.

Why would you encourage Mattison to go though, after 2 seasons of top 10 defenses in yards and 2 seasons as the #3 defense in ppg. That doesnt even make sense to encourage him to go.

I wonder what "wasn't comfortable coaching our team" means.

Wow, I wasn't expecting a change so fast.

How wasnt he comfortable? Ive read reports he had a great relationship with Ray and some of the other defensive guys in just 2 years.
