Wow.......... I'm shocked. But I'm offering the same deal for Cam if he goes to LSU, if Cam goes to LSU we get Patrick Peterson in return and if Mattison goes to Michigan we get Greg Jones.

On all seriousness though, what Defensive Coordinators are available or who is someone that is good we can promote from within?

I saw this rumor yesterday but it wasnt verified by a credible source...now Im just flat our stunned and frankly kind of upset. Can't wait for all the clowns saying "good riddance" and to "bring back pressure defense" when we had 6 sacks on Saturday and was ranked 3rd in PPG 2 years in a row.

What I liked about Mattison is that we might have a DC who was good for longer than 3 years, and someone with tenure, you know how much easier it is on a defense to have the same philosophy for years that works and to draft players for that philosophy. Im pretty heated right now...been a craptastic week.

Agreed. However, one major NCAA violation and your program is done for awhile. It'll probably take USC 3-5 years to be prominent again.

Honestly, the defense and schemes in the 1st half of the game reminded me of our "organized chaos" days. I loved it!!

That's what frustrates me too. Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan, Rex Ryan, and now maybe Greg Mattison. None of them have been the DC for longer than 3 years. Dick LeBeau has been with the Steelers for over 6 years and look how solid their defense has been. The Ravens definitely need to upgrade the talent on defense and get some youth in there, but they also need stability coaching + philosophy wise. I have nothing against coaches going onto other carreer paths, but the Ravens DC just don't stay for very long and constantly change.

That's what I am saying. If he has a choice, he's going to stay here as long as the money is equal. The real factor is time. None of these coaches are going to sit around just because 'something' might happen.

Agreed. This is crazy. I haven't even gotten over the loss and we're already talking about possible FA and coaching losses.

yes lsu please take cam and yes michigan please take mattison. dont get me wrong mattison is good with HIS scheme but with the talent we have on d there is no way we shouldnt be number 1 total d every year we need someone who is aggressive like rex and knows how to get 100% out of our players mattison is good but to conservative for baltimore imo

Very true but iam thinking some of the older coaches in the league are looking at their bank accounts and with a possible lockout they want their security and the college game has not threating a lockout.

Exactly, he knows Oakland needs a DC. That's an unknown here. Besides, it's Oakland if he goes there, he might be promoted to HC by the middle of next season. LOL

I would hope it would be here, unless Al Davis gives him an outrageous amount of money to put up with him. Hopefully Pagano remembers that Al will probably fine him if he so much as sneezes the wrong way and he'll end up making less than he would if he stays here.

We were blitzing alot, but I dont think it was anything as crazy as the old organized chaos days...I dont think another team will ever be able to do that again.

You have to move quickly, look how many coaches and assistants were hired before we even lost. Teams are always trying to get ahead when making changes.

I'm sure any coordinator would rather work with Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, and Ozzie Newsome. Not to mention a great offense and special teams.

It's just do they want to work for Harbaugh. He isn't exactly the funniest guy to work for as coach or player.

I don't like the sound of this. I agree that Mattison has likely worked up some consistency and philosophy with our players now, and him leaving would wreck it. I don't want to see a repeat of the first six weeks of his reign if he does leave. And, for all the criticism he receives for his somewhat notorious '3 man rush', he still runs a good, efficient defense.

Wouldn't be the first coordinator I'd show the door to either...

Aaron Wilson is a very good reporter with ties to the Ravens and legitimate sources. He's the guy I trust the most with Ravens information.

Why can't Cam be getting interest from his Alma Mater.

Although I think Mattison's performance as a DC was certainly not worthy of letting go, I wouldn't mind seeing him move on to greener pastures. I thought he did a fine job once the Defence started to jive in his system, but I would rather see someone else with a little more aggressive nature to him. Pagano has been named as the front runner should he leave. I think that might be a pretty good move. I would also love to see Cam take a college job as well. I think Cam might thrive a little better in a college system anyway.
