Unsurprising. His drops in the first Cincinnati game irked me and his drop against the Steelers Saturday was gut-wrenching but I've come out of this season with a new-found respect for T.J.

People say Houshmandzadeh is a whiner but, really, he just answers every question with extreme honesty. Like it or not, professional or not, that's how he answers.

He did it the same this time, saying openly and candidly that the drop and the lack of production bothers him - he's said that all season. He was also very up-front when talking about the offense and Joe Flacco. Now, being sorry for the drops do not excuse him from them, he'll have to hope the Ravens still believe in him.

His future probably depends on whether Derrick Mason and/or Donte Stallworth return.

Why wouldn't the Ravens still believe in him? So far they still believe in Cam, and he has dropped ALOT more this past season.

Personally I want the guy to stay especially if Mason retires, and it's not because he is a "veteran presence" who will "take the pressure of Boldin." No, that hasn't worked this season because the receivers don't get open. He's a good receiver, 600 catches in his career will evidence that, but he's a vocal presence we need on the offense. Replace Mason's leadership with a combination of Boldin and Housh.

I still want us to find a good receiver in the draft or groom David Reed though

It'd be a lot easier to cut ties, business-wise and from a personal standpoint, with Houshmandzadeh than Cameron. If they nullify his contract, the Ravens may still have to pay him in 2011 (I may be wrong on that) in addition to installing a new scheme.

I agree with everything you said. If Mase goes (I hope he doesn't, but it's possible) then I want T.J. back. He's shown that he can be a physical presence and has made some plays for us this year, another year in the system and with Flacco could do a lot for him.

We do need some youth and development at the receiver position, you're right. I like Reed. The Ravens signed Justin Harper to a "future contract" so maybe this will finally be the year he breaks through. We signed the talented, yet injury-prone, James Hardy, too. It definitely doesn't hurt to have young, talented wide-outs.

My response had nothing to do with the business side of things, just the seemingly very forgiving nature the organization seems to be if Cam returns.

I understand that, I was just giving reasons why putting Houshmandzadeh on the street would be easier than Cameron.

It's funny you say that cuz after that game I was thinking, "He's a double agent! DESTROY HIM!"

Now, I want him back next season. Even though I don't hold it against him at all, I'm kinda hoping he gets motivated from "The Drop" and uses it to be unstoppable.

Also, as a sidenote, even though he doesn't have the numbers this season, he's created a lot of penalties on defenses. That's just as good imo.

He said in his interview on 1057 today that he wants to make it up the city and the team.

Agreed on the penalties he drew. To be brutally honest, he might have gotten more separation than either Mason or Boldin.

He's a great player. Like the radio-guy whatever you call him said about his son, you can't be mad at TJ because he made so many good plays this year, like the catch that won the game in Pittsburgh Wk 4, and so many other 3rd down conversions!

Bring TJ back and forget about Plexiglass. The chemistry would be better given the unit has a year under it's belt. Go get a speedy receiver from the draft and start sending him deep to loosen up the pressure and help the run game. Or bring Stalworth back and use him deep like the one and only deep catch he had against the steelers dec. 5 which Joe badly under threw. Then instead of a TD we ended up punting on that drive. Why does it seem so simple yet we make it so freecken difficult.

He made some great catches in the Jets game also. Demonstrated he could go up and fight for the ball.

the drop could be blamed on flacco too, his throws always seems late, slow, with no velocity, look at aron rodgers throws, laser

Pretty difficult to blame Flacco for either of those drops when the ball hit both receivers on time and in the chest. Flacco wasn't perfect on the day, but those throws are hard to make any better.

So apparently Joe is not allowed to audible and the play is run regardless if he thinks it will work or not..This speaks in volumes on why they need to change their scheme on offense.

Don't draft a receiver they are a dime a dozen. We need to get our trenches solidified, and find the future in our football team on defense. With that said bring Housh back, i love the emotion he plays the game with. He is a constant professional and tells it like it is. I would say drop Donte and bring in some young speed.

Where exactly would you like us to find young speed without drafting it?

Free agency. There might be speedsters out there. We can get for cheap or free. We have some trade bait on the team.

Unless "young speed" is walking the streets that can step in help this offsense right away, I don't see any other way to bring some in other than through the DRAFT.

Mcgahee if he takes a pay cut. Bulger is out there im sure if we get him signed teams will bite. Mason can potentially be one of those guys. All linebackers minus Mcclain, and Ray. Paul Kruger Nakumura and Zibby. These players aren't going to get you much but all we are after is speed. Our Dt minus Cody and Haloti are all expendable.

If all you want is speed, get Yamon Figurs back. If you want speed and someone who can catch, go through the draft.

You're delusional

You're not going to get anything more than 7th round pick for Willis.

What team will give you "young speed" for a 34-year old QB? Please, tell me...

No team is trading away "young speed" for a WR that is the antithesis of that.

Ellerbe, McClain and the other LBs have done nothing in this league to warrant being traded for "young speed".

Neither have Kruger, Haruki, or Zibby.

None of the DTs besides Ngata and Cody have done anything to be good "trade bait".

This team needs more than just speed. He isn't Jacoby Ford but David Reed has some speed. What the Ravens need is a young WR with explosion to separate. Reed could be that guy but they need someone else.
