Romo Ravens

McGahee Might Not Come Back

That's another thing. We don't even know which direction this offense is going. If we're going to be run-heavy, then yeah we'll need a good backup RB. Someone like Willis, if not Willis. Power back.

If we're going to go pass all the time, then we need more of a balanced RB like a larger, slightly more powerful Ray Rice. Jason Snelling from Atlanta comes to mind, but he's kinda injury prone.

But for the record, I hope Willis agrees to the pay cut. I like having a power runner for a change of pace back. Plus he's getting older and a lot of teams probably won't look at him anymore, so why not just stick around?

(Also for the record, I am a Willis McGahee fan. He won me over when he went crazy in the Monday night game against the 16-0 Patriots in 2007. That TD run will stay with me for as long as I live.)

In other news, I honestly don't think Steele will amount to anything for this team. He's gone the way of Cory Ross in my eyes.

Birk is all effort, though. The bridge of his nose is consistently bloody haha.

He's a good leader for our young OL. Most of those players are entering their prime, though. I don't know if we'd easily find anyone better than Birk on the market or in the draft but it wouldn't hurt to invest for the future.

 Very true. I thought no man's nose bridge could get more bloody than Heap's before Birk was signed.

Finding someone on the market or in the draft better than Birk probably won't be easy, I'm just hoping it can happen. If he does return, so be it. But the tackle spot have to be stabilized and Chris Chester cannot be a starter.

I just want a balance offense that doesn't get shut down every time they face a good defense. Being too pass-happy has it's downfalls and we as Ravens fans have seen that only being to pound the rock can hurt you as well.

How has Steele "gone the way" of Ross? He was a UDFA, flashed some skills in pre-season and has been on the practice squad all season. Ross was a special teamer in '06 and got some run late in '07 when the season was over.

I agree. Chester should not be starting for us. He's serviceable but definitely not a fit for the power-running game we want to employ. I hope for the same thing, we should've just cloned or brain-washed Jason Brown when we had the chance - he was our biggest loss in the 2009 FA departure.

we had the talent we never had the coaches to use the talent, we the best scouts and gm in the league they have found year after year the best players and talents, we just don't have the coaches to put that talent to work.

The talent isn't flawless.

Bad wording, not "gone the way" but "will go the way".

Just another TC/PS body. I don't expect much of anything from him if he couldn't beat out Jalen Parmele for a roster spot. Mebbe I'm being too harsh on the rookie but generally for a running back I don't give them much leeway cuz most of the time they either have it or they don't.

This is especially true when people start talkin about them being the #2 back of a run-heavy team instead of being a special teamer.

But hey, I'd be happy if he can prove me wrong. Lets see what he can do during the offseason and TC.

I have an idea ... why doesn't Willis start at Running back I personally think hes better than Ray at running the ball, bc i feel like whenever ray gets the ball he stops and tries to cut back and gets a 2 yard loss. I'd rather have Willis dance and pick up 2 yards then lose 2. I know this would probably be a dumb thing to say, but what about Rice in the slot and as a 3rd down back and spot back.

P.S. I know i will get a lot of heat for this, I just had to voice my oppinion and see what other people say.

Remember, Parmele had the advantage of being a proven special teams player and the starting kick returner late in '09. I really believe once Steele adds some muscle to his frame, he could be better than Parmele. That's not saying a lot but I liked what I saw in pre-season.

Rice didn't dance or try to cut back as much in 2009. If the o-line is improved more, Rice will as productive as he was '09.

Rice was definitely not the issue. He made the OL look better than it did, at times, with his strong running.
