I think Willis goes and we re-sign McClain on a contract we could now afford, as well as the extra carries he'd want.

I like Willis, but he's probably a luxury we can no longer afford due to his contract.
This makes sense to me. McClain is younger and is still a "change of pace RB" - then sign another FB and you have McClain taking a few FB snaps too.

Is Ronnie Brown a free agent? It would be nice to see him in the backfield, depends how much hes gonna be asking for though
He is a UFA and well be 29 at the start of next season. He's also injury proned.

I don't think he can ask for too much. He won't be a Raven, but not a bad pickup if he can stay healthy.

Now might be the time to try and trade the guy even if it's only for a 5th rounder or something.
last offseason was our chance to trade him. His salary is too high. We will have to release him and someone else will sign him for less than his current contract. No on is gonna give up something in a trade to get the privilege of overpaying him.

the Ravens and McGahee need to part ways! they need another HB that can compliment Ray Rice. one that is bigger and stronger than Rice but just as explosive. and a monster FB....and not necessarily someone that is already in the league. that is what the draft is for.

Is Ingram gonna go int he 1st round? If not he'd be perfect for that.

He probably will if he runs a good 40 time.

That pretty much describes Willis........

I agree with a monster FB though.

Really? You want us to go for a running back in the second round. Do you realize how many holes we need to fill? Back up Running back is not the highest of priorities...

We have to fix our offensive line, get a wide receiver, find a defensive end and fix the pass rush with an OLB.

We might also need a safety and linebacker too.

Did someone say Parmele are you kidding. I dont wanna see him on special teams much less the backfield. His vision is terrible.

He's on his way in all likelihood. In this instance, it will be sad to see him go. Jay Parmele is an interesting quantity, would be interesting to see what he can do.

I agree. We really haven't seen much of Parmele, and he must show promise at RB because we certainly didn't keep him around for special teams!

Spend the $ on a real fullback rather than a FA RB and give RR the holes he had when Lorenzo was here.

I'll miss McGahee. I think he is an important part of our offense when he is used properly. Cam doesn't use anyone properly though. I wouldn't fault any player for leaving us with Cam returning to be honest. I'll always love 'ya Willis. Good luck wherever you wind up man.

He's actually not that bad. I was watching him carry the rock in training camp and he can hit the hole pretty quick. You never know what you got till you give them some chances.

From what I saw in preseason, Steele was much more impressive than Parmele.
I'd forgotten about Steele. He did look pretty good. He's on the practice squad now right?

Yep he's there. I am expecting him to be on the active roster next year. But that is all contingent upon releasing McGahee (or him taking a paycut) and if we pick up anybody in free agency.

Steele had some runs in PS last year. Hoping a year on the practice squad matures his game to the NFL level a bit.

Willis is the one offensive player we have who has had somewhat consistent success against Pittsburg. So it figures we'd let him walk.

Seriously though. We saw this coming a couple years ago. His salary is just too big for a backup running back.

I'm just not sure what we have in Parmele. He's gotten very few touches in meaningful games and I can't even remember any decent performances in preseason games. Unless we draft/sign somebody he would be our backup running back.
Couple years ago? Didn't he just become backup last year?

I agree though, as much as I like Willis, I don't see him with much of a future with us, and I would really look forward to us investing in youth and speed instead of veterans. Ray rice + a rookie backup or maybe even a primary speedback would be awesome for us

He's really not that good Pu rock. This guy stands straight up, he makes himself a easy target when he hits the line. Although he runs hard he's not patient and has no vision. Speed is bad also. I want a change of pace back. Someone we can put in and make the offense more explosive.

It won't make a difference unless the o-line is improved. Teams knew the Ravens were going to run the ball with Neal blocking for McClain out of the I-formation in '08 but couldn't stop it because they were getting blasted off the ball.

I won't say "answer" but if healthy, he'd help. His presence would allow Oher to move back to his better position, right tackle. Yanda would be able to slide back to his better position, guard, and replace Chester, who isn't starting material. Also, Birk needs to replaced.

Willis, like 90% of our offensive weapons, was under-utilized, and when he was in the game, not used correctly... I'd love to have him back.

Not sure if Willis would take the huge paycut necessary for him to stay, but I would be grateful to have him return. He's one of the best back-ups in the entire league, could be starting on a lot of teams.

Without him, though, we have a bevy of young runners. From Parmele, to Lawrence, to Steele, maybe even McClain. We could utilize him more, like he wants, and make-up for the possible loss of McGahee.

We do have a lot of holes to fill. Birk missing on the line though, has me a little nervous.

I'm not worried. Players like Alex Mack, Maurkice Pouncey and others have stepped in as rookie centers and played well from day one. I don't know if there's a center like that in the draft this season but the Ravens better find find someone in FA or the draft that will be ready in a year at most.

I respect Birk but he's been on the decline as a run blocker before he came to Baltimore.

Birk is all effort, though. The bridge of his nose is consistently bloody haha.

He's a good leader for our young OL. Most of those players are entering their prime, though. I don't know if we'd easily find anyone better than Birk on the market or in the draft but it wouldn't hurt to invest for the future.
