The Play Nobody Is Talking About

I never get why people feel the need to go into a board, which is CLEARLY a rival of your team?

Good intentions or not...

Dude, that was a text book tackle by Clark. His head was to the side of Mase. Only problem was Taylor being there.
I actually agree. He made sure he kept his helmet well away from Mason's head.

I just saw the play again on NFL Replay and Clark definitely lead with his helmet. Pretty pathetic.

Which is funny because in watching it again I actually changed my view to think it was a pretty textbook hit. Yes, he does lead with his helmet but he is turning his body to bring his shoulder into Mason.

Edit: Too funny. Neg 1 for defending a Steelers' player. I blame warden for this. He made me go look at the play again. lol

Maybe I looked at it wrong and didn't pinpoint what part him actually hit who first.

Go to you tube and watch a Ray Lewis video if you want to see "text book" tackling with the shoulder, not the helmet. Sure, his head may be down at times, but his eyes are on the prize and the weapon is his shoulder, not his head. Which, by the way, is illegal and has been illegal forever. It's called spearing whether the opposing player is hit in the head or wherever.

Ryan Clark leading with his helmet in an attempt to spear Ma$e, mase sidestepping and results in Ike Taylor getting laid out instead.

Would have made my day to see Clark getting a flag for spearing his own teammate :D

Oh, I was DEFINITELY talking about this play. I've even assaulted Ryan Clark on twitter explaining how he's so oblivious to the fact he doesn't know how to tackle. Him and Harrison always lead with their head, looking straight at the ground.

His response was simply "so much hate, you have no idea what you're talking about because you don't play the game."

And then I respond with... so how come Troy Polamalu, your teammate, never gets called for illegal hits and yet still considered one of the best defensive players? SIMPLE... HE KNOWS HOW TO TACKLE. He looks at what he is hitting.

Ryan Clark is just another idiot who doesn't deserve the money he makes, is even luckier than his team is, and actually thinks he is good because he's been getting away with being lucky for a while.

I'll never forget that ridiculous cheap shot on McGahee in a game that was already over. Lebron James knows all about karma, and I'm hopeful that Ryan Clark will soon know about it, courtesy of Rex and the Jets!

I love taking shots at Steelers' players as much as anyone but Clark made a clean hit. He hit Mason's side with his shoulder and his head was behind Masons' back, from what I recall. Bad luck for Taylor for standing there but, otherwise, a clean hit by Clark.

That said, he's been known for questionable hits in the past, this wasn't one of them.

EDIT: Clark may have led with his helmet, but he only made contact with his shoulder. Can't call him for that.
He didn't make a "clean hit." He simply MISSED because he was not looking at what he was TRYING to hit. He was obviously going for Mason... but instead rocked his own teammate with the "crown" of his helmet.

That's where I disagree with you. I don't think that hit was cheap at all. He came leading with his shoulder but not at a wide enough angle. As McGahee ducked to brace for contact, their helmets collided.

Really, I don't see how anyone could call that hit "cheap". Poor technique maybe, but not cheap.

I saw. So, as a result, it was not a dirty hit on Mason.

Why do you think he ended up hitting his own teammate, because his eyes wear looking at the ground. He would have never hit him if he was leading with the shoulder.

Riiiiight. You'll see "eyes looking at the ground" a lot. Even by your own Ravens. I promise you that. But the fact remains, it was a text book tackle of Mason.

We all know Ryan Clark is a head hunter.... : P
Were you in on the conversation the other where we were comparing our secondaries? I was trying to relay what Ryans role was which I'll acknowledge, doesn't usually involve him getting turnovers. Apparently, I could have lied and he would have backed me up. lol. Sorry, not trying to rub anything in. It's just that it's very unusual for him to get two turnovers in one game; I thought of that conversation after just the first one. lol

Hope that makes sense and doesn't come off as just babble.

What pisses me off most about this play was the tv coverage during the game. Mason just got flagged for a costly offensive PI calls but yet they showed 5 replays of the injury hit before they went to break. They never once showed us the offensive PI call.
