Steelers Have A Knack And We Gotta Give 'em Credit.

25 posts in this topic

The steelers always seem to never be quite 100% yet somehow they always FIND A WAY to win football games. Sure maybe their skill level isn't as great as ours(as most of the steelers O line is a bunch of no names, and we have "the best D-tackle in the game" and T-sizzle going after them), but their ability to stick around no matter how far they're down, and their ability to create turn overs in key points of the game is just phenominal.

Also notice how they seem to get the best out of anyone they draft.

Case and point: all their young receivers.....I always seem to be saying whenever I watch a steelers game " who is that receiver that just caught that game winning 90+ yard catch, wouldn't that be something if the ravens could do that"

They have a great QB, a great defense and are obviously a well-run organization. Still, I'm not going to credit them too much for last night's win. The Ravens choked.

The Ravens definitely choked, but at the end of the game they simply wanted it more.

We had Mendenhall stopped on 3rd down, but he gave 3 extra efforts to get in there. Yes we were screwed by that holding call, but at the end of the day, we had him tackled, but he still got the TD.

yeah, it's hard for any defence to

a) go out on the field without getting much of a rest.
B) defend the ball starting from within your own red zone or close to it.
c) have to do either a) or B) 3+ times in quick succession

can't win the ball game playing like that....maybe next year....if half our team doesn't retire.

To my Ravens friends,

I know you're hurting and I can certainly sympathize with that. I hope you'll find a way to keep your heads held high. This is one of the pains of being a fan of sports and I am all too familiar with it. Several of you were extremely rational and classy in the game day thread and as a visiting fan, I'd like to thank you for that. Those of you who know me, know you can count on the fact that I will not be gloating about this game around here.

For what it's worth, I'd made my decision before the game to root for the winner throughout the remainder of the playoffs. It was a huge step for me, but I made it out of respect for your team and most of you guys.

Cheers.

it would have been nice to welcome you aboard the band wagon, "perhaps next year" (how many times must I say that).

Great franchise…Great Quarterback… Great Safety…Great Team. I hate the Steelers, but you have to respect what they have achieved over the years. Also, I made the trip to the game yesterday. All and all, I found the fans to be pretty cool. Not sure I can pull for them to win the Super Bowl, but that’s probably due to the fact that I'm jealousy of what they have. Good luck Steelers (even if I don't really mean it)!

Pretty simple: LeBeau > Cameron.

Don't forget: Zimmer > Cameron

Thats great to hear man.

But I have to be honest with you. I can't root for the Steelers. Something inside me will die if I do that.

Much respect to your team though.

Its not called a knack, its called HEART. When a team can make a mistake as big as a live ball walk in by the other team, then come back to win it is HEART, pure and simple. The Steelers knew that they had to come out in the second half and go 1000% with their hair on fire and they did. We ducked and covered, made stupid, basic mistakes and lost. Take the fumbled snap from center. This is not the first time Flacco has done this. Cant he bend over? And Ray Rice, carrying the ball like a loaf of bread. Cmon guys, these are mistakes made by rookies, not contenders.
Wrong! Ravens didnt choke when you take into account they were given a gift when the ball lay Dormant on the field, then turned into a TD. Never saw that happen before.

Also, did you take a look at the STATS? Overwhelming in Steelers favor. Point is, you caught breaks in the first half, we caught a few in the second half. Call it even.

All in all, the Ravens lost that game, no excuses

Oh please. The sack and fumble on Ben wasn't a gift. The only reason no one went after the ball for a few minutes because to the naked eye, it looked Ben's arm going forward.

Statistics have been overwhelming in many a team's favor before but they've lost the game. The Ravens had an opportunity to go ahead late in the game but failed. They choked.

Winners find a way to win and losers find a way to lose, Yesterday the Ravens blew a huge first half lead, it's not surprising because we witnessed the same thing all season. Changes have to be made we'll see what happens and if this team can shed the losers mentality.

Are you kidding me? We failed on Offense period. Turnovers, and once again, lack of sustained drives due to lack of scoring mentality, oh yeah, we don't believe in audibles, use the same players for the same plays. How easy for a good defense when we hand our predictable game plan to them every time, give me a break.

To be honest with you, both teams choked, just the Ravens choked at a more inopportune time. I mean for the Ravens to have a 21-7 lead in the first half with 90 total yards says a little about the Steelers choking in the 1st half.

We each had one self inflicted turnover too, Joes fumble and mendenhalls (own offensive lineman elbowed it out of his grasp)

Overall, the Steelers Defense played slightly better and the offense was slightly better. Simple as that.

I still disagree. The Steeelers didn't choke in the first half; they were dominated defensively.

But whatever man. The Ravens lost. I'm sick of talking about the Steelers really.

Yeah, there's a difference between choking and getting outplayed... we outplayed the Steelers in the first half and choked it away in the second.

I'm not taking anything away from their second-half effort, but they didn't deserve that win.

Lol, ok, you're free to believe what you wish. I'll respect your opinion, this is your forum. Trust me, part of me would rather have lost yesterday if it means we lose to the Patriots again in the AFCCG.

Ha, you're baffling. You guys had 90 total yards in the first half? Im not sure why it's called choking on the Ravens behalf but not for the Steelers?

Is choking a reference to the time of the game, so choking can't happen in the first half of a game? I'm just curious. You don't call it a mental lapse when a player just stands there and looks directly down at a ball? Yes Suggs made a great play, no doubt.

But to say you guys dominated the 1st half is funny. Because you could not have felt good about how the score was 21-7.
