#52 Shredding Our Offense

58 posts in this topic

The defense held them to 7 points in the first half. We were crushing them on defense, Ben looked scared, he had no accuracy, he got pressured on every down. Then Rice fumbles...

cam is holding the offense back
So is a still-developing QB, poor o-line play and slow WRs.

This hurts more than the below average Oline does, I dont even think Flacco would be able to find anyone open if we had the Patriots steller pass blocking line.

Ray is right the offense CANT turn the ball over 3 straight times in their own territory and then drop all the big game throws when it matters. Offense played good the first two Qtrs but did nothing but turn the ball over and drop passes in the 2nd half. Rays message before the game is about sacrifice and I dont think the offense sacrificed enough to say they gave it their all. A 3 and out in one thing but to turn it over that close to the Ravens endzone is...

Agreed. Cam didn't help by having them routinely 9 routes but even on intermediate routes, the WRs had trouble getting free.

See honestly after about week 13 I gave up on the notion that our offense was capable of putting up points and being efficient. It just wasnt possible with our personnel. Really if you think about it we have 3 Derrick Mason's at WR, Boldin isnt as smooth a route runner but he's more physical than Mason, but like Mason he doesnt have any top end speed, and struggles against the press (something I didnt think he would considering how big and strong he is), TJ is Mason light just taller. That puts into light all the more ridiculous move of never playing Stallworth at all. When you look at the Steelers gameplan last night they routinely had 2 deep safeties when we went into the gun, and just let their corners play underneath on routes, gave them room to take chances on breaks. Our WRs put no fear into anyone with a chance to get beat vertically.

Definitely agree with the notion that offenses have cost Ray and Ed 1 super bowl forsure, and possibly a 2nd.

. Patriots system allows even slow players to get open and make plays. Tom Brady dumps the ball of TEs, RBs, and Wes Welker who is not a burner at all. The right system can overcome physical limitations.

You look at this game and ask yourself did the defense give up some plays? Yes. At the same time the games was 7-21 halftime and ended 31-24. The offense scored 3 stinking points in the 2nd half, 3 stinking points 3!!!!!!!!! :34853_shakehead:

Welker is extremely quick out of his breaks though and gets separation that way. Hernandez's game speed is prob equal to all of our WRs and then consider hes matched up with a safety or a LB and you can see why hes open frequently. The right system can help, so can having the best pass blocking Oline in the league as well as Brady throwing the ball.

I agree with what Ray said and hats off to our guys not say anything rash or un professional after an emotional loss. Our offense is talented we seem to have the right guys but again we still can not get it done when we need too. That is the different bewteen us and Steelers I hate to say but we do have the better team. Our WR core is a good example Bolden, Housch, and Mason all pro bowle vetrens how many passes did they drop. Our offensive lime Brk, grubs, oher Flacco should be able to sit back have coke read a book and pass at his leasure. I put it on the cordinator Cam is just not the right guy. I am sure he will be here next yea sigh but I think he handcuffs Flacco, shows no emotion and just straight out sucks. Our D is good I do think one thing Ray did fail to look at Ben did own oursecondary today maybe we get Reed some help it will get better but I think that is why we suffer against great QB Manning, Ben, ect we rush, bilitz pressure all day but WR and TE or not shut down and provide easy targets. Anyhow again we made post season not one and done for the 3rd year in a row that is better than alot of teams can say

Flacco needs to go off of having a mental clock in his head when to start rolling out the pocket b/c it was two sacks where the O-Line gave him reasonable time, yet, he just stays in the pocket not anticipating anything like the Steelers pass rush aint deadly ,LOL. He needs to study Rodgers.

What will that achieve? Rodgers is more mobile than him and has better awareness. I could watch Michael Jordan hit fade-away shots for hours. It's not going to help me improve my game.

It's ironic how we have been the best 3rd quarter team for years and then well yeah. Ray seems really frustrated, and he should be.
I have to admit, bad enough we lost but then they lost that record for them as well. That really was hard to take for me personally last night.

Because Cam was the guy to turn the ball over the 3 times in the third quarter on the bad side of the 50 yard line?

You should get Jumpsoles to increase your vertical.

I already have them, and they just don't seem to work for me ^_^

About the OP, it wasn't just Ray that was shredding the O, Sizzle was up on the mic and looked very displeased and disappointed as well. When most people who don't talk with their hands start to use their hands when talking to the mic are usually frustrated.

I guess its all on how different people interpret lights out. I agree with you that 5 sacks and a TD is pretty close, but for me to play lights out, you cant allow big gains. That one pass put them in scoring position, which you cant allow to happen.
Ok but a lot of those points were because our offense turned the ball over and gave great field position for the steelers.

Third and nineteen.

= Webb + Landry letting the ball go over their heads.

It's painful, I know.
