Assuming There Is No Lockout, What Is Our #1 Priority In 2011?

I think we should only resign Haloti Ngata, Josh Wilson, Chris Carr, Dawan Landry, Marshall Yanda, Le'Ron McClain, Billy Cundiff, Sam Koch and then CLEAN HOUSE. Coaches included. We would have alot of cap room if we do clean house which i think we will.
so, signing all of those guys and retaining our other current contracts = a lot of cap?

Jets lead Patriots 14 - 3
If Ravens won yesterday and Jets win today we would've had a hope game for the AFC Championship game. That makes me sick lol. These playoffs cant be taken for granted because they are few and far between. Unless we get homefield throughout the playoffs next year i dont see us in the Super Bowl. The Colts will be back, Chargers will be back, not to mention Pittsburgh, NE, and NY. The AFC is tough. If the Ravens were in the NFC it would be different. Flacco and Harbaugh have a "its always next year" mentality in the post game presser. It pisses me off!! They say Flacco isnt an "Elite" QB. I agree and Harbaugh isnt an "Elite" coach. Personally I wanted us to promote Rex Ryan. Im not sold on Harbaugh at all.

Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is a Super Bowl team. We are very fortunate to have Harbaugh and Flacco as Ravens., maybe a little too fortunate. Given the early success of this regime, I think a lot of folks looked for an exponential progression to greatness. I for one think the 2010 Ravens overachieved given the holes we obviously had, especially on offense, but we are only a couple of pieces away from completing the puzzle. And hopefully there will be better chemistry between Joe, the OC(whoever that may be) and receivers.

I totally agree that we need to get home field advantage in the playoffs, which means winning the division. With our schedule next year, if we can take care of business within the division we should be in good shape.

It's been said 100 times, but we need a Mike Wallace. I'd use the first pick on a fast WR, then I would go for another safety, then CB, then LB, then tackle.

We also have to start thinking about filling the shoes of some of out veterans who will be leaving in the next few years

So you would address our tackle issues in the fifth round? I still see a team built through their lines, and I would draft a right tackle very early in the draft so that Yanda could go back to guard. Yanda is a natural pro guard, but who is next to him concerns me, what about Birk? Anyone's guess is as good as mine. By the way, I would draft defensive line before corner back also.

The Ravens already have a right tackle in Oher -- they need a left tackle.

i agree lol but Big Ben Roethlisberger built Rome in a day..the Steelers will win the Super Bowl this year and that'll be his 3rd ring in 7 years in the NFL..offensive coordinators dont make much of a difference if your quarterback isn't a field general. If your quarterback fumbles snaps, takes sacks, throws picks, and goes 3 and out you cant blame coordinators. Thats a lack of accountability. Joe said it himself that he screwed up.

Personally I think I would rather see us bring back Carr over Wilson, would probably be the cheaper of the two as well.

Next there is a huge target on the list there in Sidney Rice who could make Joe and Q ultimately much better because the threat and plays he can make over the top. We've seen how much help it is when you have 6'5 receiver (Chargers) who has a 40" vertical with great hands. He would be a huge target for Joe because Joe himself is a big man.

If we couldn't bring in Rice I'd love to see Holmes in a Ravens uniform. Regardless the Ravens are going to need to address the WR situation.

But the biggest thing of all is Ngata, he needs to be locked up.
I disagree, Wilson is a way better corner, you'll see Webb be better after another year of healing on his knee. I'm surprised Webb was playing as much as he did! Carr is a good servicable nickel corner.

Oh, so who missed Palamalu when he stripped and sacked Flacco? Ah, I thought it WAS LT, Oher.

You just further proved my point. Oher is a better right tackle than he is a left tackle.

We do have Gaither - get him signed and healthy. If not, maybe Harewood can be NFL ready?

Other than that, we need Kindle back. Getting Foxworth back will be big because he can push Webb to the slot where he'll be more effective.

In the draft? Best player available. With Foxy and Gaither back we'll have no big weakness. Except coaching.

I'd say WR is a big weakness. The WR corps of Boldin, Mason, Houshmandzadeh isn't a short-term answer, much less a long-term one.

I like our three vets but we're missing a big play guy. Oh wait, we have Stallworth and Reed - two crazy fast receivers. Too bad we don't use them.

Yep. Had either of them gotten more snaps this year though, we'd have to hear complaining from Mason and Houshmandzadeh.

Do you think Gaither wants to be a Raven or accept what we want to pay him? I do not see him with us next year.

Jets beat Patriots 28-21

Another BIG game from Santonio Holmes. The Jets cant resign both Holmes and Edwards this offseason. If we won yesterday we wouldve had a home game for
the AFC title game. What a waste.

Do you have anything from the 2010 season when he had his back injury? That is when the whole Gaither thing started to unravel.

I would take Carr to be honest, the whole year he was much more than just a 'nickel' corner and I don't remember specifically one game where he got picked on, he was a starter all year and is probably the most sure tackler out of all our CB's.

Well if it was a back injury he should be good to go next year (though could still re-injure himself). If it has something to do with his contract, I think the Ravens will test to see if he's healthy and make a decision based on then. Let's hope it happens before the draft.

The Jets will likely re-sign Holmes and someone else will overpay for Edwards.

Do you realize that Boldin already has a big contract? Forking out more money for a WR just wouldn't be smart.

Boldin averages only around 7m per year, while the higher WR's make 10+ mil don't they. 4 years over 28 mill is a big contract but it's not that big(doesn't Foxworth make more than him?, we have a few fair size contracts on the defensive side of the ball in Suggs, Ray and Reed as well.

I'd love to see the Ravens bring in Sidney Rice. He can run all the routes, great hands, excels at the deep ball and going over top of people. It would open up a helluva lot for Rice's checkdowns along with Q and Heap going over the middle and underneath.

A lot of people here keep mentioning free agents to acquire. Very well, I'm sure we will aim to make some splashes in this regard.

But c'mon, the best teams build through the draft. Luckily, we have an excellent GM in Ozzie who will address our areas of need. My point is, let's not go overboard with free agent acquisitions, in a rushed attempt to win a Superbowl.

Personally, I think with the age of our team, this was our best chance to win a Superbowl. Many key guys are beginning to physically regress, which is sad, but a fact of life and the game.

Like many, a return to Ravens fundamentals would be nice. I've thought more about our team over night, and bolstering our defence would be a good move. A lock down corner would be wonderful. Look at what Revis did against New England today, he was integral in the Jets win. Would be nice to beef up the offensive line again, so we can return to running the ball and controlling time of possession.

Boldin's contract is a 4yr 28 million which doesnt handicap us from signing a top tier reciever. Boldin could've went elsewhere and made more money. Once we release Houshmanzadah, Stallworth, Mcgahee's big contract and trim the fat from the defense we'll have room to go after Santonio Holmes. I think the Jets would be stupid to not resign Holmes. If Holmes resigns, we'll go after Sidney Rice or Vincent Jackson. I want Sidney Rice if we cant get Holmes. I think Jackson would demand too much money.

We'll be adding Ngata to the list of defensive players with big contracts in a few months. And after next year. Flacco and Rice will likely be looking for new contracts.

I don't see the Vikings letting Rice go anywhere.

Like I said before, in terms of a WR, I want the Ravens to finally draft one.

Not really. The Cardinals traded him and the Pats aside, I don't remember too many teams were pursuing him.

Rice will be re-signed as well dude.
