Merged: Are We The Best Mediocre Team In The NFL?

56 posts in this topic

As a Steeler fan, I find the original post rather disturbing. The hurt is too new to be making statements like that.

Sure the Ravens have some improvement to do and some old players to promote off of the field but they are far from being done!

They are still one of the two most physical teams and most feared teams in the NFL.

I have come to the conclusion that the Ravens will never make it. It's a combination of a turnover prone offense, an old defense, the NFL obviously desiring a Steelers' victory (thus the ridiculous calls in the 4th), a total cluster-fudge of a QB, an OC who doesn't belong at any level of football, an over-rated running back (hold the flipping ball)....the list goes on.

Dude, its the NFL, winning is not guaranteed but the Ravens are one of the best organizations that give us a fighting shot. Go ask teams who haven't sniffed a playoff game in years ask them if they would like the Ravens success.

It's a game, things change from year to year.

If you don't like how things are this year, wait to next, because the NFL morphs year-to-year.

Mediocre??? As a fan, I think it was a great season. Tell me one game where you thought we were out of it with 2 minutes left in regulation. No blowouts, always good competition and a really exciting season. Yesterday was tough, but we had a chance in the end to tie it up and the game was always close. Its hard to get over the hump when you always play the post season on the road. Home games in the NFL are huge in the playoffs and if we can start off at home, I think we will go deeper.

The only issue I have with this team are in game adjustments. People have complained all year about Cam's in game adjustments and yesterday was another case of that. I don't believe either the steelers or ravens have been up 14 on each other at one point this season, so I was expecting us to run run run and make the clock our friend in the 2nd half. Even if we had three and outs its better than getting sacked on first down and forcing the ball leading to an int. But hey, if they completed the passes we would all be praising the aggressiveness.

Overall another great season. There can only be one winner each year, hopefully next year its our turn but more importantly I hope we are entertained every week like this year. Go Ravens!!!

It's a sad day when a Steelers fan has to talk sense into a Ravens fan. But you are very right.

Good luck from here on out.

While I cannot agree with you giving up on Baltimore, thats your choice and probably fueled largely by emotion. A friend told me something funny but that rings true to me after yesterdays loss. The Ravens are very similar to the Atlanta Braves ( Who I have always cheered for as well) from about 92-2004? (I think). They are great at making the post season but besides the 95 World Series champions have been the model of make the playoffs and fail. I just think most fans are frustrated at the lack of evolution on this team but if that makes you quit , were you really a fan to begin with?

Wow, really. This is what a 12-4 record and three years of Play Off appearances comes down too? Really! Never thought I would say this but Baltimore fans are spoiled.

You are either severely delusional or really high.

Even if Flacco actually turns into a useful passer for all 16 games and shows up for the playoffs, some major costly mistake will blow it once again. If always a dropped ball, blown coverage, missed block, phantom penalty etc.

For all those accusations of fairweather fandom...fine. I have stuck by this team since the beginning and have absolutlely had it with their pathetic postseason performances. Losing to the better team is acceptable, shooting yourself in the foot every stinking time is not.

OOO NOOO....SOME MESSAGE BOARD "PEOPLE" NEG REPPED ME AND THINK I AM A BAD FAN...whatever shall I do with my life? :229031_rofl:

News flash to the Ravens. There are 4 quarters in football...not 2. That little break in the middle isn't the end of the game. You don't give up there...you actually have to try and win for another 30 minutes.

The Ravens are nothing more than a second place team. For the past 10 years they have been the greatest middle of the road team. They can beat up on the KC or the Panthers...but choke when they face the best. They will never be any better, and they will never beat BB. They are who we thought they were...a second tier team who once again imploded in a despicable second half.

So...I am done. I will no longer invest so much money, time and emotion on a team that cares not for playing like a champ (chumps?). I am so weary of late game mistakes and lackluster, unmotivated play in the 4th. No urgency, no heart, no desire. The Ravens are dead to me...they have proven for the 3rd straight year that they can not hang with the Steelers (or the Colts/Pats for that matter). I do not have the time for this garbage.

Most of you will probably say good riddance...but whatever. I am officially deleting them from my life. No more heartache...I can't take it. I will remove my account shortly after this post. Take care all.
nah, wouldn't even waste my breath on that...

Its funny what you mentioned in the first paragraph considering we set a franchise low for turnovers this year, Rice had the longest active streak of touches w/o a fumble, and our "old" defense is still a top10 unit.

No team is perfect, but I have to admit we found a way to show every ounce of imperfection all at once in the second half yesterday.

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. Us true fans will still be here, just like we always have.

Just the typical influx of crazies popping in.....the storm will pass soon enough.

Nothing mediocre about the Ravens at all....NOTHING! Just ask all the Steeler's fans who were throwing in the towel at half-time.

Better yet...think how fans in Cleveland and Cincinnati must feel having to surpass both the Ravens and Steelers year after year after year? Both teams make dumb mistakes from time to time, but IMO these are the two toughest teams in the NFL.

One of the bright sides of this loss is that many of the bandwagon fans will jump ship and become Jets fans.

Cut the fat out of this forum. That's a plus.

Okay, I know there's a lot of disappointment this weekend, but the Baltimore Ravens are not a mediocre football team.

We were probably the most perplexing 12-4 team in history, but we're a Top 5 organization; always have been and always will be. Our trophy case just isn't as full as some of the others... yet.

I wonder what the Lions/Redskins/Cardinals/Panthers/Bucaneers/Texans/Raiders fans are talking about today?

I bet they would love to be 'mediocre' like us, hell most of them haven't smelled a playoff game in years.

A big speech for what... Does this person watch football... turnovers happen..... Sounds like one of those fans that jump on and off random bandwagon teams anyway.

All the posts that get locked and some dumb crap like this gets to remain open???? Really there are posts about potential free agents locked and this nonsense is up and running...

The best mediocre team? I'm not sure what that even means, NO! We were given a game in the first half and the we went in to the locker room at half time, wrap our new gift up and then came out in the 2nd half and give it back to the steelers with a nice pretty bow!

Ray Rice had his FIRST fumble at the game, and he was hit hard. Lots of mistakes happen- did you not see the score at halftime??? We were up 21-7! It just slipped us, they thought they already had it in the bag, but they didn't. Next year, we'll get it. Oh, but next year you won't be a Ravens fan apparently...so nevermind.
