Merged: Are We The Best Mediocre Team In The NFL?

56 posts in this topic

I have come to the conclusion that the Ravens will never make it. It's a combination of a turnover prone offense, an old defense, the NFL obviously desiring a Steelers' victory (thus the ridiculous calls in the 4th), a total cluster-fudge of a QB, an OC who doesn't belong at any level of football, an over-rated running back (hold the flipping ball)....the list goes on.

News flash to the Ravens. There are 4 quarters in football...not 2. That little break in the middle isn't the end of the game. You don't give up there...you actually have to try and win for another 30 minutes.

The Ravens are nothing more than a second place team. For the past 10 years they have been the greatest middle of the road team. They can beat up on the KC or the Panthers...but choke when they face the best. They will never be any better, and they will never beat BB. They are who we thought they were...a second tier team who once again imploded in a despicable second half.

So...I am done. I will no longer invest so much money, time and emotion on a team that cares not for playing like a champ (chumps?). I am so weary of late game mistakes and lackluster, unmotivated play in the 4th. No urgency, no heart, no desire. The Ravens are dead to me...they have proven for the 3rd straight year that they can not hang with the Steelers (or the Colts/Pats for that matter). I do not have the time for this garbage.

Most of you will probably say good riddance...but whatever. I am officially deleting them from my life. No more heartache...I can't take it. I will remove my account shortly after this post. Take care all.

i love our team and our defensive performance, except for the long ball on webb was the best i´ve seen for a long time!!!!

sometimes you win sometimes you lose. i have no doubt that flacco will win it all for us at the right time....

let´s just keep getting better and learn from our mistakes!!!!

LET´S GO RAVENS!!!!!!!

Except we don't learn from our mistakes. We just keep bringing Cam back. Doesn't anyone else wonder why Joe is the only QB (who isn't a rookie) that does not have the wrist thing with the plays on it? Because Cam will never let him go. I doubt Joe will even resign here if Cam stays. I sure wouldn't if I were him.

We let Mattison continue calling that 3 man rush even though we've seen all season long that it taxes our secondary. And he did it on nearly every single 3rd and long this game. Allowing them to convert 90% of the time.

The 3rd and 19 play itself is really a non-issue because the refs had thrown that phantom illegal contact flag as insurance if the Steelers didn't convert it.

I will never let my pride in the Ravens die, Never. I am so hurt by yesterdays loss. It hurts even more not knowing if there will be football next season, and knowing what that may mean for the Ravens but at the end of the day... I bleed purple and black.

So if Baltimore goes 19-0 next year with Flacco throwing for 50 tds you say you'd still be done? You should be ashamed.
[/quote]

You are either severely delusional or really high.

Even if Flacco actually turns into a useful passer for all 16 games and shows up for the playoffs, some major costly mistake will blow it once again. If always a dropped ball, blown coverage, missed block, phantom penalty etc.

For all those accusations of fairweather fandom...fine. I have stuck by this team since the beginning and have absolutlely had it with their pathetic postseason performances. Losing to the better team is acceptable, shooting yourself in the foot every stinking time is not.

OOO NOOO....SOME MESSAGE BOARD "PEOPLE" NEG REPPED ME AND THINK I AM A BAD FAN...whatever shall I do with my life? :229031_rofl:

Not really an accusation of being fair weather...your deciding to stop cheering for your team, that is fair weather.

You obviously cared enough about people saying you were fair weather to keep posting so I guess it had some effect on you.

I for one hope people don't stop cheering for "there team" just because we lost to the steelers again. The steelers are a great football team and we aren't up to par with them yet in big games but we will get there.

First of all let me say this:
I'M A FAN OF ALL THINGS BALTIMORE (i wan't less crime, better metro system, and more jobs)...so, I sympathize with people being done with the Ravens...I understand that doesn't mean switching teams. It's like with me and the orioles...I JUST DON'T WATCH BASEBALL!!! MLB doesn't exsit to me unless the orioles are doing something. I watched a handful of orioles games since 97 cause I know the red sox and yankees dominate and we have a terrible owner. I didn't/don't cheer for another team cause I don't even care about baseball....I JUST CARE ABOUT BALTIMORE! I relate to the Ravens...rather baltimore fans that feel the same way as I do about the orioles

I happen to like football including college...so imma keep watchin the Ravens even if they continue to lose in the curent manor.

to my points:
Along with the Chargers WE HAVE THE BEST TALENT IN OUR RESPECTIVE DIVISIONS...
And with that said i'm sure we will get over the steelers hump next year....but then we might lose to the colts because we just can't string sucess together! You don't give the other team the ball on unforced errors. All the steelers errors were forced (ravens were clearly the better team). we created our own errors (steelers lucked up...and they know it!).

pee wee fotball 101...carry the ball high and tight so you can only get stripped by a helment making contact and not a hand. Sure ray rice can outplay any of us on this forum because of being physically gifted...but it was bound to happen because he is prone to carry it like bread and has been lucky all season. FUNDAMENTALS!!!
why yall think he got benched after that play? they tell rice all season and told him before that play protection is more important than a big run....huh?

Green bay last night is what we were suppose to do to the steelers! Flacco is my dude...but he looked nervous at times when we were on top in the 2nd half like he was in shock that we were the better team! Aaron Rogders was not shocked last night and put his neck on ATL throat because he expected to succeed. it's like the Ravens couldn't believe we were winning....what's up with that?

2008 loss gave us hope and noone was down on the team...this yeat looked like regression! We are looking like the san diego chargers! Where there is smoke there is fire...Cam Cameron! Cam Cameron is insane. cam does the same thing over and over again to expect different results. Lets just try something new on offense. Cam Cameron was at his best in 2008 and our QB wasn't experinced enuff to get it done. Cam decided to go in a different direction...and i think it's time the organization did the same.

I wish I could + that about 25 times, but even mods can't do that.

I am so proud of this organization and all the good they do. I'm proud of our overall record even when losing yesterday is eating me alive. Ravens fans are so spoiled by our successes that we forget to be grateful for them. Imagine being a fan of a team with 13 losing seasons in a row.

you mean the orioles fans (most of which live in the b-more area)that are dealing with 13 losing seasons, lol? I don't think you want to say on a ravens board that people aren't greatful IMO especially since it's home of the orioles in b-more.

I'm sure a lot of ravens fans are/have been orioles fans and know that feeling. Orioles don't have expectations tho....it's easier to digest their losses because they are out of contention by mid-season.

What success? Getting slapped for 9 years with all the talent this team has had?
That's not success, it's pitiful and embarassing. If Biscuit doesn't take action here, he should just sell the team to a passionate owner.

Obviously not everyone makes it to the Superbowl, and it's not even guaranteed if Pittsburgh will make it yet.
Not everyone even makes the playoffs, look at the Saints. They're the 2010 Champions...yet they got eliminated by the Seahawks, who didn't have that great of a team. Everyone has their time, we will have ours. Have some faith in the Ravens.

And my question is when does it stop becoming about making the playoffs as an accomplishment (see san diego chargers) and winning championships?

did u see the steelers in the 90's...that playoff crap we doing now wasn't acceptable to their fans and they wanted cowher out! We need higher standards in b-more if he want to take out pittsburgh. Any season the steelers are in the playoff and don't win a superbowl is considered a bad season in the organization and in fanbase.

Tomlin would have said after the loss "they are the pittsburgh steelers and that is not acceptable football and would have apologized to the fans, steeler tradition, and the past players"...harbaugh and maybe baltimore has lower standards that will not take us to the top. Harbaugh needs to call the season a failure and play to a higher standard.

Wow. This really shows me what a true fan is. What a, excuse my language, disgrace. I wouldn't go as far as telling you you deserve to root for the Ravens. Sure I'm knocked down, sure, I hate this. But I wouldn't THINK of stopping as a fan. What a real fan is, you wouldn't even begin to know. Get off this board.

i like football so imma always watch the raven. But the orioles...i don't even watch baseball cause of them! This is is about baltimore. some people just don't understand how the Ravens is all we got to represent the metro are these days and the image to the world. Cause outside of football everyone craps on b-more and call it a crime ridden city and can't even imagine living there and rather be in the DC metro area.

Who are those Baltimore Ravens radio announcers, The Fan, 159.2? They were correct in saying after one game that manyy Ravens fan are so, well, not into it. So quick to hurl aspersions. This stuff is jus like water off a duck's back.
