Overreactions...

21 posts in this topic

I was the one who made the "bash Flacco" thread, but I'll admit that it was an overreaction borne out of emotion. That loss was a team effort on offense. Skill players, coaching, everyone.

I still say coaching is the main culprit, because the issues have been chronic. When the same story occurs in basically every game seemingly regardless of execution you have to look at the coaching. People keep talking about talent but without good coaching talent means nothing. The Cowboys and the Bengals know this well.

Anyway who is saying Flacco should go is overreacting. Tom Brady has made people expect too much from young QBs. Look at how Falcons fans are reacting - not nearly as crazy and impulsive. I'm embarrassed by my actions as a fan, and by the conduct of my fellow fans.

Hopefully the offense comes together next season. Next season really will be our last shot with the vets on defense.

First you say not to overreact, and than you go on to say next year will be our last shot?

Edit: okay, I see that you said with the vets on defense. In that case I agree.

I disagree it came down coaching. The biggest plays of the game where self-induced mistakes by the players.

Next year is the Ravens' "last shot"? Wow...

So Ravens will never draft enough talent to make more runs at the Super Bowl?

How is that overreacting? The vets on defense won't be here forever. 1 or 2 season tops, probably.

We'll be fine after they leave (we'll just be a team known more for offense than defense, I see the transition coming), but I would love for someone like Reed to get a ring before he leaves.

I love when people go back on their word over and over and over again....there needs to be a mandatory shut down of the board for 2 hours after a loss. That way the crazies can figure out what they really think and then methodically post, as opposed to haplessly going awol.

I agree the players choked today. But this sort of thing has been happening EVERY GAME. Something has to change fundamentally.

Actually, now that I think about it, I wonder if have a Randy Moss situation for ourselves with all these vets. I'm not sure Ozzie wants to completely rebuild on offense but we have nothing to lose at this point imo.

AT LEAST!

Haha, I was hoping they would be down by the time I pulled my grumpy self to my computer. No luck. And the crazies are out in full.

It's natural for a lot of fans (including myself) to overreact because we were SO CLOSE. Nevertheless, our team crumbled on the big stage and all we can do as fans is look forward to next year and the upcoming offseason.

Side note: Wow...anyone see Ray's postgame? He pretty much blamed it on the offense straight up...wow...

What has to change fundamentally? The coaches are by no means perfect on this team. THhy do numerous things that are questionable to say the least. However, again, the backbreaking plays for the Ravens today were player miscues.

Ozzie doesn't have to completely rebuild on offense. He has a QB, RB, at least one WR and three good o-lineman in place. The foundation is there to be a good unit. Some young play-makers at WRs need to be drafted or emerge and the o-line needs shoring up but I don't see how he needs to rebuild.

I saw it. You can't blame him. Rice's turnover was bad but Joe's pick and Birk's botched snap were just ridiculous.

Yeah, Ray was MAD. I think we'll see some of the locker room dissatisfaction leaking out soon.

it WAS the offenses fault. the defense played pretty much lights out except for the 3 & 19 play. WHY do we run the ball on a 2 and 15? NUMEROUS TIMES into the middle

Such a disasterous loss. So many people were counting on this. It's got a lot of people reeling. I know it's just a football game but still...especially being up 21-7 at the half. Rice fumbles, Burk missnaps (or Flacco fumbles), dropped passes, interception, costly holding call, defensive backs letting the runner get by them for a deep route, on and on...Why go back to the 3 man rush and give Ben more time to pick the backfield apart? Everybody's got an opinion I guess. It was a good year overall.

IMO it didn't come across as anger, but more as being disheartened because the defense really played as hard as they could given the situations they were put in. They laid it all out on the line (especially Suggs, man we are wasting these amazing games by this guy) but the offense made critical turnovers that put the defense in a bad predicament where they could not succeed.

Of course, the Defense played well. Infact excellent. Just Suggs alone was in his own world looking sktward, inspired after beating on Ben and their line. Of course, they will tire and be unsustained after pounding away, to no relief from a
flacid offense. How long are they always supposed to prop the team. They did this v. KC as well. If it wern't for the defeense, Flacco would not have come out of his funk. They uplifted the team. The Ravens havn't changed in this regard. It's their identity.

Yeah, everyone concurs, what's with the run up the middle? Accomplishes everything but forward progress, just burn a down.

falcons don't play in the same division as the steelers. they don't have an organization that is dominate...holding 6 rings over they head...a fanbase that permeates ya home field advantage...an arrogant franchise to deal with!

NFC South is rotating with no dominate team with national fans that everyone bandwagon...and they don't have another team 30mins south sucking up the fanbase!

based on division and geographical location....we have more pressue and worry for concern!

I might be overreacting but nothing hurts more then giving them the game with our mistakes....theres to many to list offense and defense the team as a whole lacks the killer insticnt and when they relieze there up 21-7 at half they turn over the ball 3 times in our territory i dont know what it is but we are never gunna beat pittsburgh until we have a top tear qb like arron rodgers, oh and by the way every year we wait our defense gets just a bit worse.

falcons and ravens are too organizations under different circumstances. The south cares about college football. check gerogia bull dawgs and georgia tech boards!...see the same reactions as we have in the north. Plus ATL has an entire state.

ok flacco gonna have to work on thrown the ball little quicker and with velocity , sometimes it feels like his throws stay in air for ever, secondly he needs to stop running outbounds for loses,
