We Need Young Wrs

21 posts in this topic

Not necessarily a reaction to the game, but we need young and speedy WRs. Vets won't take us to the Super Bowl, so why not get some guys we can groom and have for a long time?

It's pretty obvious man. Reed has potential and I really hope he earns a larger role in the offense next season but another young, talented young WR needs to be drafted.

Even though it's not talked about a lot anymore because of Boldin, WR is as much a need as any other position on this team. Mason will retire or be let go. Housh won't be back, and Stallworth will probably be let go as well leaving Boldin and Reed the only WR's on the roster. We need to make some moves for Flacco's sake

May I ask, when was the last time the Ravens drafted a WR with a high pick? Was it Travis Taylor? It seems as if your Front Office is adept at finding every position but WR in the draft.

I honestly picked the Steelers to finish 7-9 this season, and when the Ravens added Boldin, I picked you guys to win the Super Bowl and thought the addition would make the offense more dynamic, but once again the offense seems status quo as where it has been in the past.

I never counted the Steelers out. Not with Ben at QB, and not with the defense they have and their ferocious pass rush. Everyone expected both of our teams to have crappy secondaries, in fact neither one was that bad. I thought maybe we'd edge you out for the division title.

I totally forgot about Clayton....

I thought the North was your for the taking this season. I thought, man a dynamic passing attack for Baltimore to go with that run game could be devastating.

When the Ravens signed TJ, alot of us Steeler fans did comment that having three veteran Diva WR's could lead to some potential problems. But honestly it seemed like we were trying to make ourselves feel better about the Ravens seemingly upgrading.

What sucks is that a lot of great WR's have decided to come back to school.

I really like Floyd, and he was a realistic option. But thats all fantasy now that hes staying in school.

But with that being said, there still are some very good 2nd to 4th round WR's to pick from.

There's a lot of talk about drafting a WR with an early pick. How about 3rd-6th? Because I feel a huge need to draft an O lineman in the 1st and possibly even 2nd round.

If Gaither comes back, which I pray he will, that need is eliminated unless of course the FO wants to spend a high pick on a Center. But even then, a new WR is badly needed

Well as far as the line, Gaither being back would help drastically. But I strongly question the RG and C positions on this team. We all know Birks time is running out and we need a replacement. Also, I don't feel comfortable with Cousins, Chester, Moll or even Yanda at this point in that starting role at RG. So I'd draft a WR in the 2nd at the earliest. Probably more like 3rd. 6th was a little too far I think lol.

David Reed could be nice as a 4th WR, but we know how much they get used... we need a Mike Wallace-type guy who's going to stretch the D and make people miss in open space... assuming we hire an OC who's going to actually utilize our players' strengths.

Huh? Having three legitimate threats should have given opposing teams problems. None foresaw the WRs being so poorly and underutilized and them struggling mightily to get separation at times.

So many more needs. Center. O-Line depth. D-Line, ILB.
Yeah I mean we have good players at all these positions (not so much O line) but most of them aren't long term answers.

Hopefully James Hardy ends up being a diamond in the rough. Really young guy.

I'd love to see it happen but am not holding out hope.

We have Kindle, no point going and getting another until we know the deal with him first. The game did show we need one elite WR, a go-to-guy or someone that needs double-teams and can open the field for our... less talented WRs. A shutdown corner would be nice too. Someone we can use to spotlight a WR on key plays.

Pittsburg always seem to get those plays to come off. We don't.
