Since you mentioned the Raiders, I think the Jets have taken the distinction of actually taking all the NFL's cast offs these days:

Santonio Holmes - Steelers

Bart Scott - Ravens

Jim Leonard - Ravens

Braylon Edwards - Browns

Jason Taylor - Dolphins

There are a few more, but those are the first that come to mind and they're all impact players at key positions.
