Same here. I'd rather have a pure blocking FB, than one that wants the ball in his hands. I've never been the biggest McClain fan because he lacks what the best FBs to the best.

I'll take John Kuhn over McClain every day of the week.

Agreed.

That said, I think McClain and Fabe were just posting in the heat of the moment. Really, I'm not taking it to heart. If they come back, I won't be upset. If they leave, I won't be too upset. Frankly, there are more important players on this team that are more of a priority to be re-signed. Because I love them for their contributions to this team, I won't crucify them for their comments but I also wouldn't encourage them to keep posting more of their thoughts since it'll only burn more bridges.

I hate saying this about Ravens players, but Le'ron McClain acts like a punk.

A couple of spitting incidents, that whole stupid "McClain4RB" campaign and now this? I can't stand the way he acts and will be happy enough to see him leave.

Washington can go, too. Guy is arrogant and cocky from what I've seen, which you could understand if he actually had game. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't and will be lucky to make 4th string on most NFL teams.
What are you talking about? Washington has been more down on himself than any DB I've seen....

Very few teams use a pure FB anyway... why not put Willis in that role so we can finally see Rice and McGahee on the field at the same time?

Agreed. I've seen his tweets throughout the season and the guy is more critical of himself than any other NFL player I follow on Twitter, outside of Domonique Foxworth. Foxworth beat himself up for weeks over his injury, and the guy had rarely tweeted prior to it.

Why shouldn't he be allowed to test FA waters? take into account the fact he was grossly underpaid and then tell me what he owes us.
$2.2 million for a FB isn't "grossly underpaid", IMO.

I think he's an above average lead blocker, but with 219 total yards, he didn't contribute offensively, otherwise, to deserve a large raise. I think he wants starting RB money and the starts to go with it. No way Rice sits to give him 200 carries, so away Le'Ron goes. I wish him well.

Willis can pass block, can he run block?
He blocked for Clinton Portis for a number of games and the National Championship when they were at Miami but I don't think he could do it in the NFL.

I'm listening to the radio and Le'Ron has supposedly told reporters he likely won't be back and doesn't want to be back. He cited that he wasn't used properly.

Correct. McClain told jen royale of the fan that he is uphappy with our offense and how he was used- said he will not return to the ravens unless he is used more with the run.

Looks like he's gone.

Like a RB? Good luck with that venture McClain. McClain is a bruising runner, but he doesn't have that same motor like Tolbert to be effective enough in the run game.

Plus a team would have to carry two FBs.

It's just poor taste to bring this issue up so quick after a loss. At least appreciate this organization for the opportunity it has given you.

I wish Leron the best if he does indeed leave. Unfortunately, like many other players on offense, he wasn't used properly in the offense. Always commended his passion.

Agreed on all counts. McClain is a good runner but Tolbert has some burst. I don't wish him ill but it'll be interesting to see if any teams utilizes him the way he seems to think he should be.

I'll miss Le'Ron a little but I think the Ravens can find a better blocking FB.
i agree.

i have watched Leron's gameplay for a while now and notice at times that he is not explosive in getting to the hole to blow up defenders to clear the way for Rice. some times he would just move slowly (almost at a stand still) to look around to see who to block.

to me...my FB needs to be a beast! get to the hole....blow out your man to clear the way.

see ya Le'Ron!

Im not saying that! Just leron said he's unhappy with his role in the offense and he wants out. Said he kept his mouth shut, did his job and now that his contract is over he is ready to move on.

I respect him for that. He never cried or complained. Leron is a good raven and ill miss him.

This is probably what they are actually referring to:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=nfp-20110117_leron_mcclain_wants_to_return_if_hes_a_part_of_the_offense
He just said his decision of where he goes is based on his proposed role of the offense that isn't blocking. So basically, he knows he won't do crap here. One thing I've thought about all season I'll let you guys hear. It won't be that tough to find a pure blocking FB. And hopefully we fix our O-line problems. So I saw McClain take some of that weight back off, maybe 15+ stomach pounds, then work on those legs like crazy. McClain would be our #2 back behind Rice. We need a real power back. Willis is a pretty good back with some power, but he's not very powerful. We would now have a better solution for whatever down and short. AND also not have to settle for 3 when we're so close to the end zone. We all remember 2008, Le'Ron had some help from Neal and guys up front. But if we get a new FB Le'Ron could really fill in that missing hole. And with some weight loss up top he would have better balance and not stumble all the time after he catches the ball. And we all know Le'Ron even though a big boy can still bust one. Dallas 2008 right?

I never meant to infer you did, bud. I'm just wondering if that's what Leron is trying to say....

Actually, Bulldog was specifically referring to comments Jen Royle gathered from Le'Ron as the players are currently cleaning out of their lockers. Those comments in the article might have been made Saturday night but regardless, whether McClain is re-signed or not is all part of the off-season process.

McClain doesn't have the agility or speed or run power to be a good runner like Hillis.

He should stick to blocking, and im afraid some team is actually going to use him more of a runningback.....

Oh well. IM STARTING THE OWEN MARICIC BANDWAGON!!!!!!

I thought Leron would be our Franchise FB and a keeper but FB is the easiest position to replace and we just need a blocking a FB. I'm with ROFL let's get Owen Maricic.

Happy Trails!

Now for Fabian, well I can understand him not coming back as well he is a Free Agent and like someone brought up, the money we save by letting McClain walk can be used toward someone else and letting Fabian walk will help us out as well since we'll need the money to sign Ngata and hopefully get Aso.

I wouldnt mind LeRon being our #2 RB and trade Willis. Maybe the Redskins would pick him up, they seem to like to grab older backs past their prime (they wont, the have Williams and Torain) just making fun of Dan Snyder.

I don't see Willis netting anymore than a 7th round pick and that would have to be after he takes a significant pay-cut.

No one has denied he's a key part of the offense but he isn't irreplaceable.
exactly!

his antics are already proof-positive that the Ravens and he need to part ways.

the Ravens top-brass just needs to clean house and get some more younger, hungrier and passionate about winning players in here!

Nobody is going to trade Willis because of the size of his backloaded contract and 2) Willis is going to have to take a pay cut if he wants to remain being a Raven.

I expect a whole new back-up backfield next year.
