[News] Game Recap - Divisional - Ravens at Steelers

250 posts in this topic

The Ravens had their playoff destiny all but secured after jumping out to a 21-7 lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers, but turnovers, penalties and blown coverages were too costly.   More to the point, turnovers, penalties and blown coverages in the third quarter were too costly. As the lights dim at a raucous Heinz Field Saturday night, the Steelers find themselves heading to the AFC Championship with a 31-24 victory, while the Ravens watched their Super Bowl hopes die.

Sad day for Ravens fans:
1. Biscotti you need to make some changes. New coaching staff first priority. Start with OC.
2. Worst officiating crew of all time.
3. 3 man rush? C'mon man!
4. Flacco is a good QB but Ben R. is great in crunch time.
5. Plenty of blame to go around on offense. Defense played their hearts out. Blame DC for 3 man rush calls which killed us.
6. Don't blame Rice for the loss. He carried the team all year. The defender made a great play to knock the ball out.
7. Did I mention the owner needs to make some changes?

Both Coordinators need to go! we score 21 in the first half and 3 points in the second half. It seems that we try not to lose instead of trying to win the game. Cam seems scared of any defense that is even half decent. What was Mattison thinking on 3rd and 19 only calling a 3 man rush?!?! Even worse was the 8 men in coverage couldn't stop the pass! Fire Cameron and Mattison and get some people in there that aren't afraid of the Steelers.

well not all cams fault. boldin and housch let us down when it counted most. our offense was not really there at all. turnovers were key to this game. flacco stunk but tried to redeem himself but receivers didn't help. i think changes need to be made and yes cam has to go but housch and boldin really dropped the ball here. why are we a 2 quarter team? i don't get it. why do we run 2nd and 15 and get 1 yard out of rice. next play he catches it but fumbles. pittsburgh on 3rd and 19 gets on the 4 yard line. we have no balls in our receivers. is it justified? i don't know. i'm all over the place here but i'm pissed. a lot of let downs this year.

Mike Tucker & others - amen!

Cam. Gone. NOW! I can't even talk about how gutted I am about this game... but if there's any silver lining, maybe it's that Bisciotti will get rid of Cam, because no one else will.

And Mattison.. for the 3-man rush in that situation?? I think you need to go too.

ravensfanfromsc I signed in to write the exact same thing. This season, although fantastic at times, was a pretty big offsenive dissapointment. We have the best wide receiving group in the league, Todd Heap (enough said), one of the most dynamic backs in the game, an elite QB and a young, talented, offensive line. There is no reason our offense shouldn't have been destroying teams and as good as the greatest show on turf. If Cam Cameron has a job in Baltimore next season I will be extremely dissapointed, and baffleled, with Ravens front office.

this headline is bull the only thing that mattered in this game is the terrible call by the ref that said smith held on webbs return for a touchdown was a great pancake block and no hold at all they dont cheat there we win period!! yet again the steelers move on because of the refs and the ravens will get an apoligy from the nfl and head of officials!! well that doesnt give us a win does it!!

First, I want to say that I am feeling a bit emotional right now. Second, I hope MR Bisciotti fires Cam tomorrow. We were 22nd offense during regular season. Then we can't score a single effing point in the 2nd half against our arch rivals in a game where we had solid control and would have put us one game from the SB. I AM SO TIRED of losing to the Steelers in big games. I dont blame Joe. I blame the conservative play calling in the 2nd half. Should we keep running into the brick wall or pass the ball when it was working? F u, CAM.

Explain how do you let a receiver come off the line free and clear and you let him get by you. Where was a blitz? Poor coaching in that situation, a three man rush what the heck!!!!!!!!!

So pissed right now man this loss was horrible and idicative of how our season has been all yr not good enough!!i enjoyed 12-4 but our o line was never blowing ppl off the ball this yr which was the true problem it wasnt Cam 7 the play calling but the inability to block ppl.. so tired of D playing lights out only to have O squander it away

The offense shot themselves in the foot with a miserable third quarter, and the blame goes squarely on Cam Cameron's shoulders. There were two consecutive plays in the third quarter when Cam decided to call a run on 2nd and long. Now, I think its a little early to try to run the clock down!

If I were an offensive coordinator, every time the ball is in our posession should be considered a time to put points on the board. I dont think there is such a thing as a overly aggressive offense. Every time the ball is in our hands is a time to score, and I don't think Cam Cameron understands that. If he dows, his playcalling certainly hides it well.

Sure Quan should've caught that ball, but in all fairness to him:
1) It should've been thrown on 2nd down, not 3rd... #@$%^& CAM!!
2) How can we really expect him to stay sharp and make great catches when we HARDLY EVER THROW THE #@&^#$%^ BALL TO HIM???!! Remind me why we brought him here again?

Oh and I saw a shot of Stallworth riding bench. Hey anybody remember him? They said he's a speed receiver but who knows...

Flacco has some sort of disorder that causes him to get a careless attitude way too often and it always shows in his play during these spells. It was evident today. He is at best a so-so qb. In many games, especially this year the ravens would have lost if not for their defense and sometimes they did in spite of their defense. Due primarily to Wacco Flacco. This guy isn't championship caliper, never will be and knows it. When it counted the most each and every time, Flacco went weird. Plain and simple. No leader in that man (or boy). What a waste of a good defense. Make the defense play all the time and backed up to their own end zone. I said it before this game. Put glue on Flacco's hands or loose the game. He drops snaps, fumbles and throws interceptions when it hurts the most. Take a look at each and every game where the ravens lost. The backup qb looked great in the few plays that he was used during the pre-season. Put him in. Take Flacco out. He inspires no one especially Bolden and Housch. I don't know what the stats are for Flacco but if they are positive then they lie. If he would have just fell on the ball in the second half the Ravens might have pulled this one out. Ravens are becoming the laughing stock in P-burgh. I am so bummed out right. All the wasted talent up in smoke. Harbaugh comes out after the game and is so milk-toast that I can't stand him anymore either. Maybe that's his style. But I don't have to like it.

Slip away????? It ran away from us with room to spare! The defense played astonishly well, Cundiff was present when needed (as normal), and even the specialists did their part, although the officials messed it up... But, man, the offence ruined everything!!!! Flacco was horrible in the 2nd half, the playcalling was mediocre and Cam's face.... Man... Cam's face told me we'd lose a lot sooner than we actualy did. It was a disaster! I'm sorry for Lewis, Suggs and Wilson, 'cause their deserved to win.

PS: FIRE CAMERON NOW!!!!!!!!

I believe the ravens need to go and look at the tapes after this game, and view them over and over, I was so disappointed in this loss but I am proud that we made it this far; my head hangs low that our defeat was by Pittsburgh again :34853_doh: . Whats the problem? I don't know but through the year I have seen many mistakes that need looked over and in need of changing.

The D played their hearts out. As for Flacco, and Cam. Really? 1st and goal, and you run twice for no gain, then take just one shot, and Boldin drops it. I have never seen such bad situational play calling. I agree, you drop 8 guys in coverage, and a guy still gets behind you? Maybe you blitz and they get 10-15, or even a hurried throw and a pick. There were too many bad plays called to even re-count. What a shame, this could have been a great team.
