Ray And Ed

37 posts in this topic

after playing their hearts and souls out every game i wouldnt be suprised if they called it quits this offseason. to be hof players and have such a terrible surrounding (cam, mattison, the o line, flacco aka cant win a big game if my life depended on it) is probably the most frustrating thing in the world. if these two call its quits they will go down as the best linebacker safety duo to ever play and will be remembered as the ravens for ever

all that is sad but true. Ray and Ed will always be remembered as the best in my mind! I think Ray might have 1 more year left in him though.

just what are you talking about? this wasn't on flacco. this wasn't on our defence. they just beat us and tj couldnt catch it. if you mabey watched the game you would know it wasnt flaccos fault. second, ravens need to draft better corners and i know lewis will not quit. his is playing on a very high level still. i think reed has 1 good year in him left. even if he retires he will be the greatest. got all these weapons and still can't win? i think it isn't the players fault. it is cam cameron. i gave him a chance this year but his play calling sucks. i would keep mattison because the defence is begining to come around. we just need better corners.

I've been following Ray Ray since I was 6.. if he hangs it up this year, I'll be sad, as with all the people on this board that are hardcore Ravens fans.

I hate seeing them go out like that It's a damn shame all the years our D was dominating we couldn't produce an offense to make a push. They totally deserve better for their efforts.

I just can't see him going through another full year only to be disappointed in the defeat in the playoffs because the offense didn't step up to the challenge. But that's just me

First, I don't think either of these guys retire. I sure hope they don't. Mason I could see retiring, but who knows?

Second, Flacco has won a lot of games that mattered. He missed a couple throws, and that interception came at a horrible time. Cam called some great plays tonight, as did Mattison, so I really don't feel like this loss falls on their shoulders. Now the receiving crew--2 crucial dropped passes is unbelievable in a game like this especially by 2 pro-bowl receivers. Also, Flacco always has to check-down because they can't get open quickly.

Maybe this offseason we can help out the offensive line. If Flacco has more time to throw, I see us winning more games--especially games like this.

Overall, the game had GREAT moments, but also some really horrible mistakes. I don't think the blame can fall on any particular player.

On a side note, I really hate to say this, and I am a big proponent of not letting officiating make a difference because your team should take it out of their hands, but man, the refs really had some horrid calls tonight.

I feel the same. I love what these guys brought to the Ravens. They left everything on the field. I'm fine with them moving on if they want, I feel the worst for them.

If this is Rays or Mason's last game. I can see them thrashing some of the coaching (Cam) on their way out. It'll be interesting to watch Ray Lewis's pressers this week. He just lost one of the few remaining chances left to get to the big game again.

I just can't imagine a season without them, it breaks my heart to even think it could happen :(
While I would understand, it would never be the same for me.

I think Mase hangs it up, Ray and Reed might stick around for one more try.

Mason can't call it quits! Although him and Flacco fight sometimes...well I've seen it once or twice, but who knows what happens at practice, anyway, they work well together and they need Mason. We already gave up one receiver to another team, don't let Mason leave, too! :(

Well, it hasn't been officially announced yet. So let's just wait and see what happens. Hopefully they don't, but if they do, they gave me so many memories throughout my childhood following them. Wow this is sad :(

I don't know if I'd be able to even watch the season without Ed and Ray, I'd be too upset to see defense without them. While we do still have Suggs and Redding (who helped amazingly by putting points up!), we need these guys! I can't imagine the field without Ray or Ed on it. :34853_shakehead:

They wouldn't end it like this. I'm sure they'll be back next season. They probably want to end it with a victory- a big one. End their career with one more Superbowl ring. Next year, it's theirs.

To me one is the heart and the other is the soul of the Raven's. To see Ray come out of that tunnel, the way he pumps up the crowd, not to mention the way he motivates the team... Nope the loss of the game/season I can take. The loss of them?? Total heartbreak...

This is actually how I felt after last season. I thought Ray would actually go to a different team to get away from this "offense" who continually sabotages his defense.

He came back, and we know the rest. Now we're here...

Do Ray, Ed, and Mason really want to put their bodies through another season of this when they probably feel pretty confident it's just going to be more of the same? We know Kelly Gregg and Matt Birk are going to retire any year now.

This is probably why this loss hurts the most... because we realize the Ravens could be VERY different. Especially with the changes that are likely coming with the new CBA... perhaps more games? or less games with less pay? And of course the rules that continue to make it impossible to play defense... Ray and especially Ed Reed... might just decide to let their bodies heal and enjoy life.

I dont see either coming back if Cam does. They're not gonna waste another year of playing their hearts out when the offense is going to be basura

Ray and Ed are beloved and will be missed if they do not return next season. They both will be around in some capacity, nontheless, in football organizational and commmunity leadership.

The team does seem in need of certain restructuring at coaching and player levels.
Many, including myself, were holding onto giving Cam one chance after the next?
I'm skeptical, now.

The 3- headed Beast. You guys remember that analogy for our newly acquired offense: Boldin, Stallworth and Mason.

I will not be as pessimistic as others; since, we attained play-off status.

Coaching several players requires expending greater resources, time and energy, and less devotion to one or two top primary star players. An excess of talent, furthermore, may complicate decision-making and deepen internal divisions or rivalries. Who will start, who will get the ball, how many touches, rushes versus reception. Internal fragmentation and ironically excess talent may have been to the Ravens final undoing.

The Steelers had a different dynamic, and as someone else stated, won through our errors and poor officiating.

I hate to say it, but seeing Ray on the sidelines was a big downer for me, so i know it was as a player on the team. I think hes got a feeling of helplessness now

You know he may have that helplessness right now. We just lost our season, I think we all feel like that. Let him go spend time with his family and friends, watch his son play some football and he will be ready for next year.
