I hate the jets. Pretty much it. The whole organization talks trash all day for no reason at all. I'm sure if Rex was coaching here, that would be us. I believe it starts from the top. HAIL OZ.

Rex was the last remnant of our style of football in the early to mid 2000s. He took it to New York and look at them 2 AFCCGs in 2 seasons. They might talk trash but they are backing it up and beating their opponents in the playoffs. I truly wish Rex was our head coach. He wants to totally destroy his opponents unlike one of our coordinators that go conservative with 3 point leads. Rex has turned them into winners and we shouldnt be mad about that. Also, Sanchez seems to be handling himself well with 3TDs and a 127 passer rating. Be happy Rex came from Baltimore and made NY a championship calibur team.

BTW his Jets beat the Colts and Patriots in 2 consecutive weeks. Next week if they beat the Steelers, they can talk how they want to because that is truly an improbable feat

Why are you glad? They've made it to the AFCCG 2 years straight, beat Colts and Patriots in consecutive weeks, in the playoffs, and they beat the Steelers at Heinz.

They run all over teams, and if Sanchez was better they could pass all over teams too. Their D shut down the Colts and they restricted the Patriots.

Rex motivates his players, and they play for him. He's a great coach. He backs up all the talk, so I dont even wanna here about that.

If Rex was here, we'd be serious superbowl contenders.

After the Jets dispatched the Pats, I've been wondering if we had hired Rex and kept certain players, would we have been headed to our third straight AFCCG? Just makes one wonder.

If Rex beats the Steelers, then he'll have proven that the Ravens made a mistake. Until then, he hasn't done anything more than we did. Lost to the Colts last year just like us, and might lose to the Steelers just like us. They just end up with a worse draft pick.

So the Ravens weren't serious Super Bowl contenders this season? So wait, what exactly would Rex have done to prevent some of the player miscues we saw Saturday night against the Steelers.

I cant say we were true super bowl contenders until we can beat teams like the Colts, Steelers, and Patriots. The Jets have beaten all three.

We thoroughly spanked the Pats in the playoffs last year...

To be fair though, the Pats weren't that good last year, and were missing there most important WR.

Regardless, Edelman still had a big day in Welkers spot, running all the same routes Welker does. This was also a Patriot team that hadnt lost a home playoff game since what, the 90s?. If we had eeked out the win then maybe I would chalk it up to catching a break with Welker being hurt....but we absolutely fed it to them.

For the record to all the Mattison haters out there....Rex played Mattison's gameplan against the Colts to beat them.

This 'Rex' bit is starting to get ridiculous.

The guy is gone. Support what we do have.
[/quote]

That is why I really want the Jets to lose and could actually stomach the Steelers getting to the Super Bowl again.

The amount of foolish comments I've heard in the last 24 hours alone have been stunning. One idiot wrote into Bruce Cunningham's show saying if Rex was still here, the Ravens would still have Bart and Leonhard, moronically forgetting Ray, Suggs and Bart were all FAs after '08 and the Ravens made the right decision.

If Rex can go into Pittsburgh and win, in the playoffs, with Polamalu playing (who wasn't playing when they met in the regular season), I'll regret not making him our head coach. Of course, he does have different personnel with the Jets, but he's shown the ability to adapt. He's no longer stubborn with his blitzing, he's created a defense capable of stifling Manning and Brady. Roethlisberger is a completely different animal, he's uniquely tenacious.

Honestly, the Jets look more disciplined than we do when it comes to football. Maybe they talk too much trash, and their image might not be so great, but they run an extremely disciplined defense. However, anything short of beating Pittsburgh and the Jets are just losing to the same teams as us in the playoffs, one round later.

That was the year a LB had to go. Suggs, Lewis and Scott were up for contracts. One of them needed to go. Scott was that man. I heard that comment as well, it was silly. Seriously? Like Preston said. Scott might've liked Rex, but not enough to take a pay cut.

I'm right there with you. The trash talking that the Jets do and the amount of Rex Ryan lovers on this forum are ALMOST giving me a new found respect for the Steelers in this game.

I hate people who go to other teams and then talk trash about their old teams. AD, Rex Ryan, Bart Scott, it doesn't matter who. Once you do that, I have zero respect for you. I hate tooting your own horn all the time too, it makes you look like even more of a fool when you lose. I trust Steve Bisciotti, and if he thought Harbaugh was the right move over Rex Ryan, then he probably knows something we don't. The last time I checked, the Jets haven't done squat since Woody Johnson became owner in the mid 1990s. Steve won us a Superbowl (along with Art Modell, I'll admit), and was willing to take a chance on an unknown as a head coach who turned out to take us to three straight playoff appearances for the first time in our franchise's history. Remember, the Browns hadn't won anything since 1964. Also, I have NO doubt that guys like Ozzie and Eric were involved in the coaching search, and I definitely trust their opinion when it comes to evaluating both the talent and the right coaches to coach that talent.

we have zero way of knowing that if Rex was the Ravens H.C. that they would be acting like the Jets as the original poster implied.

my comment was a sarcastic response! it wasn't serious! smh!

If Rex was our coach there was no way Ozzie would have let him over pay for Bart and Jimmy. He also didn't have a #1 shutdown corner here.

Wow, call me crazy but I think we have a pretty good coach already. There's no point in wondering what would've been if Rex was still here. He's gone. I'm with Ed_Reed, I would be able to stomach the Steelers going to the Super Bowl, because I absolutely hate the Jets, and now Rex too. Mike Tomlin is one of the classiest coaches i've seen, albeit that he's the Steelers coach.

I've read this board for some time now and I still don't get why so many of you guys hate Rex Ryan.

The guy was a top notch DC with head coaching aspirations. You guys passed him over for your HC job. Did you just expect the guy to give up on his dream and stay in Baltimore and play second fiddle forever?

And then there's the talk of Rex "stealing" former Ravens players. Are you kidding me? As if that isn't common place in the NFL? Tons of newly appointed HC's bring in some of their former players. Parcells did it with every team he coached. Mangini took some of our guys when he went to Cleveland. Whisenhunt took some guys from Pitt when he left for Arizona. The list goes on and on.

And as for the smack talk, whats the big deal? This IS football right? You know, entertainment? A childs game played by grown men for millions of dollars? Why the hell should everything have to be so PC and buttoned down? This isn't congress for christs sake.

Rex talks a lot, but he backs it up. He's in your face, but he's real. It's not like he's just some yammering dope like Jerry Glanville. The guy knows how to orchestrate a defense as well as anyone in the history of football. Everyone on this Jets team would run through a brick wall for the guy. The players absolutely adore him.

I guess I just don't get why you would rather see your arch rival Pittsburgh Steelers advance over us. You would rather see that team further establish their dominance within the AFC North over Rex and the Jets making their first Superbowl appearance in 42 years? Really??

He is the HC of your team so what we see and you see are of course different. It's been such a long time for the Jets to have a shot at SB. I'm glad such situation happened to your team. I don't like Rex but didn't dislike the Jets. Even the nicest person in the universe has enemies.

It's always fun to watch the underdog to win.

PS: I'm rooting for the Packers btw.....

Rex Ryan backs up his talk with what? People act like Rex Ryan has won something.

It's not just about the "smack" talk, it's about the circus the Jets have become. Players being disrespectful, multiple player legal issues, player steroid usage, multiple training camp/practice issues, talked down about Baltimore when he was a Jet, talked smack before our game and got spanked, Trip-Gate, foot fetish creepiness, among others things. Those are just some reasons I dislike Rex Ryan.

And I couldn't care less who wins the AFCCG if we're not in it. Looking for an NFC SB champion this year...
