Reasons Why This Will Be A High Scoring Game.

15 posts in this topic

Just like all other Steeler/Raven games, they're low scoring, hard hitting and very methodical by nature. Neither team wants to make the first mistake whether it be a turnover, losing field position or giving up the first score.

Now if history dictates, the Steelers want the Ravens to keep playing this type of football because it has bode well for the Steelers, especially in the playoffs. I think this time around, the Ravens have finally learned that while Steeler & Ravens football is very similar, Ben is a slightly better 4th quarter QB and that's what has made the difference in many games. (I'm not saying Ben is superior to Joe in all aspects, just at the end of the game)

Now this leads me to believe that the game is going to be higher scoring because I doubt we will see the same methodical Ravens team from the past playoff games against the Steelers. Compare it to how the Steelers never change their style against the Pats and NE knows this and wants the Steelers to keep playing that type of football against them and that's why it's so frustrating as a Steelers fan to play the Pats because it feels like the coaches are so stubborn! The same goes for the Ravens vs Steelers in the playoffs, the Steelers just kind of have the Ravens number in the big games in the past. (This is fact and not me being a homer)

I know for a fact the Ravens are going to try to unleash hell in the first half of this game because they know they have the defense to withstand a turnover or two from attempting to stretch the field. It's going to be a 3 quarter game, the Ravens want to finish off the Steelers and make the 4th quarter pointless.

As a Steelers fan, I can actually see the Ravens doing this, but to argue, I can also see Ben moving the ball against your defense if need be.

I see this being a game were 50 total points are possible because I have a feeling the Ravens want to go for the jugular early but it can go either way. It can work like they plan and put the Steelers in their rearview, it can lead the teams to do some back and forth scoring, or it can cause Joe to lose his confidence if he commits some turnovers at the beginning.

Im not going to predict a winner, just saying, 50 total points is possible with the Ravens and their new mentality that will come out tomorrow, count on it.

Here's to a hard fought game!

I was going to use"Semi-High" scoring in the thread title but wasn't sure if people would understand that. The term semi-high scoring in a Steelers/Ravens game is 30 points total. lol

I agree. I don't think it's going to be the low scoring match everyone is predicting. Ravens by 2 TDs.

Go Ravens!!

I'm curious to know how you know for a fact the Ravens will try and unleash hell(*snicker*) in the first half.

Good points made Pitts200. There are so many variables to take into account its kind of hard to determine how high the score will be or who'll win. It all boils down to who makes the beat "preparations". The Browns blew out the Pats simply because they "prepared" for THEM...and the Pats did not make plans to play the Browns. The Steeler's have been "unusually quiet" this week (as compared to in the past playoff games) so I don't know if gives cause to have concern, or I should be elated because they have devised a game plan out of this world... We'll know by this time tomorrow which road they took...

As much as I love the classic Raven/Steeler games, it would be interesting to see a real shootout between these teams. Hopefully :baltimore-ravens: come out on top :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

I am unsure about the score, but I am comfortable that no one will ever have more than a ten point lead.

The way Joe ran last week could be a game breaker! That said, I still think Billy wins this for us, high or low scoring. My money's on the 20-17 range.

I doubt this will be a blowout it will another game with less than 40 points between the two teams being more like a 20-17 or 17-13 type of ugly game.

I just predicated 44 points score (close to 50), thinking the short to medium passes open up the run slightly & a couple bombs downfield.
