The Draft ?

7 posts in this topic

Could anyone tell me a website were it explains the draft system. The reason being in UK and Europe there is no such thing players are bought and sold not drafted.

Cheers

Basically the worst team of the seasons gets first pick at college players that are seniors or juniors.

The best team gets the last pick.

They do 7 rounds of this, where every team picks once per round, sometimes more if they trade a player or draft picks for a higher draft pick.

Here's a good site that has a mock draft that gives you an idea of how it's done.

Like Nobi said, the team with the worst record picks first, and the team that wins the SB picks last.

And how does the scouting system work for soccer/futbal? Is there a drafting system where they put their young players in scouting teams? I get the loan and buying and selling players idea, so I'm not completely helpless, but I don't understand the whole process. Because it seems the scouting system is a little flawed because it seems like the same teams are always good, and the bad teams are always bad. At least in the EPL, or am I being a little ignorant?

Also, for drafting there workout for the draft picks that is called the combine which is before the draft. Where the topic prospects from college come workout and do things like the 40 yard dash and bench press and other workouts to measure speed and strength. Teams also do individual workouts with players and interviews because football, just like every sport, is important to have an intelligent and mature player. So teams can avoid headcases like a Mario Balotelli type player.

There is no real drafting system in soccer. A lot of professional teams have youth academies and reserve teams where they develop talent.

The main reason the rich get richer and the poor stay poorer comes down to money. Teams that excel at developing talent(like AFC Ajax) often don't have the coin to hold onto their players and must sell them to teams that do.

This may be off topic but the Ravens needs in the draft to me are as follows.

Offensive line depth, Birk is in the twilight of his career, Oher should be a RT, maybe we resign Gaither but who knows.

Defensive End / Another pass rusher, either a DE or LB who can get after the passer, having just Suggs isn't enough. If we can get two monsters coming off the edges it would help out our defense tremendously. We don't know what is going to happen with Sergio Kindle at this point.

DT - Kelly Gregg's best days are behind him and Cody has shown flashes but depth is a must

Safety to groom for when Ed Reed hangs it up

LB for when Ray hangs it up

WR - need to groom a replacement for Mason, TJ, etc...may already have him on roster = David Reed, he is much faster than I thought and he is a playmaker with the ball in his hands

I'm sure I missed something or people disagree.
