Jerzey Care Question

9 posts in this topic

For Fathers day I got a Replica Ray Lewis home jerzey.

I have gone through countless of the fakie jerzeys with the iron on numbers, just to have them wash off after a few washes

My family steped it up with this one to one with the sewen on numbers. This is NOT one of the three hundred dollar ones, it is the ones a step below that. The ones that run just above one hundred dollars.

I want it to look good for a long long time. Is there any special care I should show this jerzey ?

Other than what the tag says ?

Agh, I hate those iron-on ones, but I think the heat from the dryer wears them out, not the washer. Idk

Well, I have one of the stitched ones, had it since mid-season '07 and it still looks great. Just wash it like the tag says and dry it normally.

You're probably talking about the premier jerseys (sometimes referred to as "repli-thentics"). Those are the ones with the stitched numbers and nameplates, but ironed-on sleeve logos and designs. The material isn't quite as thick as the authentic (stitched) jersey, but it's thicker than the replica (i.e. iron-on) jersey.

Those can be washed normally, but I wouldn't throw 'em in the dryer unless you have to. I usually have no choice (I'm pressed for time), but my jerseys have been fine in the dryer, with the exception of my authentic Deion Sanders jersey (which I suspect is a fake, anyway).

My only recommendation would be to turn the jersey inside-out so as to protect the outer stitching, and to prevent colors from bleeding onto the numbers on the outside.

Also, as with any jersey, I'd be careful not to wear it so frequently that it NEEDS to be washed frequently, y'know? If you can get away with wearing it twice between washes, then go for it. No one will think any less of you if you're careful enough to pull it off like I am...lol.

i have a 300$ one and i just hang in on a hanger in my room, if it gets dirty i put it in a bucket with some cold water than take it out and let it air dry. i have had it for a year and i have washed it 3 times and its still clean, so jsut try not to get it dirty

I have thrown mine in the dryer because it "grows" and I could wear it as a dress. I always wear a t-shirt under it and never cook at tailgate with it on. Tide stick works well for the occasional oops and does Shout as a pre-wash.

I always wear a t-shirt under mine, too, no matter how hot it is.

I'll be honest...I just feel strange with JUST the jersey on. And it feels awkward to be sweating directly on the fabric of the jersey, especially given how much the jerseys cost...

(anyone else weird like that? LOL)
