What The Steelers Should Be Worried About...

188 posts in this topic

In my opinion, this is what will help us win the game on Saturday:
1. Ed Reed's interceptions
2. Suggs's sacks
3. Rice's running
4. Mason and Heap being open for long catches!
what do you think we will and should do to win?
Go Ravens!!!

Bens nose is on high alert.

I hope we don't break it again, just because it would look like we won by playing dirty, even though it was a complete accident the first time.

Ed's never been much of an impact in our games. And if he has, he's been more of one for us.

So what should the Ravens be concerned with?

Troy? Ben's elusiveness?

It hasn't really sunk in yet that we're playing the Ravens for the right to go to the AFCCG yet. lol. Not sure why.

The Ravens have gave Pittsburgh ALOT to prepare for with the way the opened up the middle FINALLY for one thing. So IMO advantage Ravens in that department. Will the same kind of game we played in KC happen in Pittsburgh, most likely not. But Pittsburgh still has to account for what the Ravens were able to do in KC, and prepare in a much different way than they normally would for us IMO.

With that said will the Ravens be able to execute that same style, that is yet to be determined obviously. But it sure gives the Ravens more of an advantage than their normal routine with the run game and sideline work with Mase, now that Cam has found the middle of the field.

I'm not sure how much you can compare us to the Chiefs. I doubt the Ravens will be doing much in terms of a carry over from that game to ours. I'm sure we'll review tendencies from that game, and not Heap's impact, but we're still going to stop the run and try to pressure Flacco. That's the blanket MO for the Steelers.

I never said anything about Pittsburgh and Kansas City being the same or even comparing you two. All I was saying is that with the game the Ravens played against KC, Pittsburgh will have to account for that. I also said that more than likely the Ravens will not play that same kind of game in Pittsburgh, but it is yet to be determined. We all know what kind of game will 95% be played Saturday afternoon, and that's the usual Baltimore/pittsburgh grudge match. I hope Pittsburgh doesn't prepare for the Ravens in any different way, because if we "can" (key word there) keep the pressure off Flacco it could be a totally different game than we all expect.

Let me rephrase; I doubt either of us account much for what happened in the BAL/K.C. game.

This should be another defensive battle...not that any of us expected anything different:

Steelers Defense # 2

Ravens Passing Offense # 20
Steelers Passing Defense # 12

Ravens Rushing Offense # 14
Steelers Rushing Defense # 1

Ravens Scoring Offense # 16

Steelers Offense # 14
Ravens Defense # 10

Steelers Passing Offense # 14
Ravens Passing Defense # 21

Steelers Rushing Offense # 11
Ravens Rushing Defense # 5

Steeles Scoring Offense # 12
Ravens Scoring Defense # 3

Steelers Turnovers +17
Ravens Turnovers +7

Time of Possession:
Steelers 32:24
Ravens 31:20

Here is my thoughts on why we will win the SB. I think that the Ravens did the right thing by resting Rice for McGahee. Heap was great and will continue to play at this level because he just missed the last SB ring. Ray has taken his ring out of the safe deposit box for the first time in 10 years because he smells how close we are to victory. Ed Reed will go nuts on the field in honor of his fallen brother. Flacco is an Italian Stallion and he is about to become the greatest QB since Unitas. Oher will finally protect the blind side. Cody will erupt like the Krakatowa volcano on the run. Suggs will sack Ben until he sees stars (not college co-eds). No one will lateral. Carr will shut down Wallace. Next stop, Baltimore for the AFC Championship game.

I love the enthusiasm but I doubt Carr will be on Wallace.

2, 3 and 4...and for #1 I would say Flacco's play. I'll take a pick 6 from #20 in this game if it happens but more than anything, if Flacco can have a solid effort and avoid sacks that would be huge. I don't expect him to run like Michael Vick but the occasional sprint for 4/5 yards as opposed to a sack would do wonders to calm that steeler front 7. Efficient and effective play from #5 is critical. Great post BTW

Carr made Bowe ineffective and shut him out from making any catches. The only other CB fast enough to cover him is Webb, but he lacks Carr's game experience.

I doubt Carr was the one covering Bowe all game.

Webb has been on Wallace most of the snaps in both games this season and he covered him a lot last season in the prime time game here. The team has had success with Carr on Ward so I don't see much changing.

Block the head n shoulders guy.. That's a start

Heap is back this game. He is the one who was picking up the big hair guy the first game.

No question in my mind is Troy. Ben is elusive but he can and will be sacked and or hurried. No ifs ands or buts about it. Dont get me wrong, I realize Ben is part oak tree and is tough to bring down. I am not at all saying it is going to be easy or we are going to have our way with him. Not at all.

Troy on the other hand. I really just hate the guy. (in an opposing team sort of way) He is so freaking good at what he does. I hope he looses his car keys and cant get a ride to the game.

Watching the replay of the game, I don't see how we won't have Webb on Wallace a lot. But Webb was playing very far off. I'm sure the Steelers are going to use this to their advantage. We might see Wallace do more this game than streak it.

Agreed. We saw the Steelers take advantage of the cushion Wallace got here in Baltimore. I remember a screen pass to him where Wilson whiffed badly and Wallace picked up big yardage on. We'll probably see something like that again.

Suggs is always harassing Ben during the game. Plus our o-line is worse than it was in 2008. Still, Ben has been the one to come out on top in these games for a couple years now. I don't think that's an issue for us.

Not in denial. Not sure what it is. Guess I'm just not in game mode yet. We DID have the week off ya know. lol

I agree. Its easy to say offensive line is the cause for concern on both teams. But the Steelers have been playing with bad O-line play for years. Offensive line woes hurt the Ravens more than they would the Steelers.

What about Josh Wilson? I thought he has been covering better then Web? No?
He's played really well recently and he'll probably be on Wallace a number of times during the game.

You think so? You guys can still run the ball well.

Ironically, I think we could both be dynamic in the passing game if not for our O-Lines.

I'm looking forward to the Ravens O/Steelers D match ups. I think LeBeau and the Defense has come to an understanding about adjustments when we're getting spread out. That understanding is: Blitz heavily and hit the QB. No more sitting back.

IDK, Our running game has suffered this year because of our O-Line. They've had their games but so has Mendenhall. Against the Chiefs we couldn't do squat in the run game until McGahee broke one out.
